This is the only place I let touch my car. Honest, reliable and affordable service. I refer all my friends to this place.

I had the good fortune to visit this establishment twice before writing this review. Yes. Good…read morefortune. Most people dread going to a mechanic, but it seems clear to me that these folks want to do two things: 1) They want to take care of cars. 2) They want to take care of their customers. So the only downside to visiting Far East is that there's not much of an indoor waiting area. There is no free wifi (that I'm aware of), and no free coffee, no nearby café, and no Snap-On posters with half-dressed people holding socket wrenches covering the walls. But you know what? I don't need those things. (Except for maybe the posters.) I don't need those things because it seems clear that I'm always going to walk out of this place with my car in better shape than I left it. And it seems clear that the folks behind the counter are going to give it to me straight. They have been thorough in their assessments, and absolutely superlative in their communications. Next time I go, if you could pick me up and take me to a café, I'd greatly appreciate it.

If you're reading this and have a Honda/Acura and need service look nowhere else. I think you get great value just from the customer service alone. The service is also wonderful I like the information they took the time to put about the status of the battery and condition of tires. Value information for any driver. I have the utmost confidence taking my vehicle here and that it will be treated with care. The only thing I can think of that's a con is the time available to be scheduled, but that's because it seems they always have work going on! The way I look at it. That's a plus in my book. Hidden gem.

Kevin is great to work with and you can cut your auto repair bill in half, but keep the following in mind when working with Kevin. 1. You will be dealing with cash. 2. There is no written warranty, but a solid personal guarantee with a handshake. 3. Pay Kevin for labor and buy the part yourself. Find a coupon for Advanced Auto, Autozone, Pepboys, etc or for an even better deal use a mail order parts place like www.rockauto.com 4. The garage is outdoors, so don't plan on waiting around in an air conditioned lobby. 5. Call him for an appointment. 6. Mandarin is his native language, but knows English well enough to tell you the problem. His 16 year old son knows more about auto repairs then you ever will and can translate anything not understood. 7. The address given on Yelp is correct, but there is no signage except for one of a printing company that occupies the space in the front part of the building. Go down the driveway to the right of the building and you will come to a gate....if you are greeted by a German Shepherd and other dogs, then you are at the right place. 8. Kevin will give you a timeline for other repairs needed. Brakes, radiator leak, belts, etc., this will give you time to shop around and find some good pricing on parts.

I am glad I found this shop…read more I was having issues with my engine periodically misfiring. I first made the mistake of taking it to a AAA shop where, for $120, they told me nothing was wrong with my engine. A friend told me about Optimum and when I arrive the proprietor got in the car with me for a test drive. He experienced the issue and right away the said he knew what was wrong, and he was correct, I had a defective ignition coil. Now my car runs as great as ever. I also ask for them to do an oil change, but I was informed that my oil still looked good and recommended against it. How many places do you know that will turn down business? My car has a new doctor and it is Optimum Auto Repair.

Perhaps there are mechanics that take issue with specific cars at the owner's unawares…read more I found that my infotainment system no longer worked properly. I never had that issue until I became a regular customer for services. First, I paid no mind to the phone not connecting right away because eventually, it did. Upon a random visit out of a total of 12 for services, I noticed the issue again in addition to trouble connecting to my playlists until it eventually picked up. I felt they would not owe up to it despite having the obvious of the mechanic. Next visit to the shop, the plugin was practically loosened; a fix that had to be done at the infotainment center who did the install. Case in point: when I come to a mechanic shop, I expect to have the car serviced without tinkering with anything outside of scope. As I said, I know they won't owe up to screwing with my infotainment system which has nothing to do with auto repairs such as alternators, battery installations, fluid checks, etc but I am aware that the issue stemmed from the mechanics there. Lastly, I agree with a lady customer, who sat in the waiting area in tears about pricing concerns for a repeated issue,, who didn't understand the need for a $100+ diagnostic practically every trip or within the same year or quarter of the last. I don't see that as reasonable other than a grab at additional money given this economy. I would suggest that every customer keep a record of every transaction done to support their concerns, mechanical repair costs, etc. There may be the likelihood of haggling once you bring your vehicle in for that repair or a mechanic assigned to your car doing workarounds to stay at cost determined by a diagnostic. Although there may be a good mechanic there; which is a saving grace for the location, there are some who shouldn't be allowed to touch anyone's car. I had to return my vehicle twice on the same issue until the one mechanic who can fix the issue was the one who did. The customer service is fine despite no longer ever seeing Diamond and I think Vanessa, a pretty blonde, at the location. They may had their reasons for leaving. However, the overall mechanic team can be a risky story. I do believe when I find another independent, I may have to resort to going there to spare the risk of something truly going afoul at this one. The mechanic that can actually fix cars may not be the one assigned to mine.

And I found out the hard way…read more I have lived in Brookhaven/Chamblee for thirty years and throughout that time I always had my vehicles serviced by Shad and Melissa at J&L. Never a complaint, never questioned the pricing and the work was always done in a timely, professional manner. In December of 2022 I returned for a front end alignment and when dropping off the vehicle I asked where Shad was and was told he was out. Well he was indeed out. He had sold the business to a new crew and I should have figured that out when it took three weeks to get my car back. When I did get my car back, the leather wrapped steering wheel was filthy with grease as was the drivers seat and armrest. And they had managed to burn up three quarters of a tank of fuel leaving my fuel light on when I drove away. Insult to injury they had not even done the alignment. They also managed to not do several hundred more dollars of work that I was charged for. Forget all the positive reviews which are regarding the work done by the wonderful previous owners. This robbing crew needs to be avoided. I can't fathom how some people can be so dishonest.
