These guys were recommended by a musician who used to work for Ibanez when it used to have the factory here in PA. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they have a great selection of gear. They also do beautiful work on guitars. I've had five different guitars worked on there. Most recently, I had the telecaster in the photo worked on. Great music store. The guys are always friendly and helpful. They love talking guitars and know their stuff. I like their string punch card program. Just don't forget to go in each month to get your credit! Good section of Martin's and Taylor's on the acoustic side, and an awesome selection of Gibson and Fender electrics. They have some really high end stuff and the entry level stuff too. They'll let you A/B guitars in a lesson room if you want to. I had a great experience at George's Music! I wanted to get a Les Paul with some very specific specs, and they helped me find one, and got it in promptly. I regularly emailed the manager, Matt, with questions and changes, and he always got back to me promptly. From the moment I walked in, I knew that I had found the best music store in the area. Go play some of the instruments there and see for yourself. If you really want to feel the difference, head over to Guitar Center or Sam Ash after. The quality and care given to the instruments at George's is noticeably better. George's music overview: As a classical guitarist and singer/songwriter I have bought many items at George's music over the years. I have frequented the Berwyn location, the Springfield location, and the North Wales location. I am always impressed with their service and the quality of items they have. They are a very friendly staff who has helped me make many quality purchases. Their philosophy is that of a positive family friendly environment. In my experience, all the staff are courteous and patient of musicians and shoppers of all ability level. George's music Berwyn location: Wayne( the manager) and the music community: Wayne G. Harvey (the manager at the George's music Berwyn store) is a pillar to the music community and I do not use that term lightly. He brought me into this community of musicians several years ago and has since become a great friend. In 2009 he organized a holiday benefit CD that supported the PA Breast Cancer Coalition. He spent countless hours recording, producing, and promoting this CD (Peace on your way) and did not receive a dime. In addition to supporting a wonderful cause, this brought together dozens of musicians who may not have been heard and promoted songs of peace that are still being talked about and enjoyed 6 years later. Wayne and his customers: This past Christmas (2014) Wayne told me of a customer who is always shopping at his store and has bought several of their instruments there. This customer came in and said they were buying an instrument for a friend. They asked Wayne what his favorite guitar in the store was. Wayne brought out a Taylor 12 string guitar. The customer looked it over and took a few strums and then negotiated on a price. When the sale was final, the customer handed Wayne the guitar and said Merry Christmas. The friend the customer had bought the guitar for was Wayne. While I don't know all the details of this story (IE the relationship between Wayne and this customer), I do know that Wayne connects with people on this level. Anyone that is looking to connect with a positive group of musicians should connect with Wayne. Likewise he is knowledgeable about the instruments and I consult him and his shop for all of my major purchases. Musical instrument selection: Wayne stocks some of the best steel string guitars I've played. They have an exhaustive array of guitar brands with selections from $100 to several thousand. Additionally they have a great selection of Ukuleles and Banjos. I think I have played all of them. They tried the old bait and switch tactic on me. So shady.... I left and will never return.

They were friendly enough when I was a potential customer, and after I bought my guitar and amp there a year ago, they told me I could bring it back for a free restringing. When I brought it back in, they told me that the restringing was not actually free, but that I would have to pay for the strings. I bought a pack of strings, and told them I needed the guitar two days hence. When I went back in to pick it up, there were two employees standing around talking and no customers in the store, but they had not touched my guitar. They assured me it would only take 7 minutes to restring if I would just wait, but I had already given them 48 hours and they hadn't touched it. If it only takes 7 minutes, they could have done it today instead of standing around talking to each other. I feel like I got played - like I'm only interesting to them if I might spend more money, but as soon as they have my money, they don't care about me at all. That was a big disappointment, and I'll never go back to any George's Music again because of this experience. I could have just bought my stuff online, but I was hoping for some good old fashioned customer service from a brick and mortar store. What a disappointment. read more
