I purchased through Teleflora the Spring Bloom Basket for my Mothers 83rd Birthday at the cost of $79.17 what I received was horrific. The basket was frayed with broken areas and was suppose to be oblong and yet it was a light colored round basket with the handle facing the wrong direction, the flowers were so sparse you could place your hand throughout the open areas, the back was completely void of flowers which my palm could be placed in the space of emptiness. The arrangement looked absolutely NOTHING like the photo with many of the flowers already wilted, dark and dying. There was to be a purple butterfly atop of the flowers as if to appear in flight and yet it had a pink butterfly glued to the handle down low in the very front of the basket. It was just ugly. I will indeed add pics of what I ordered and what I received and let you be the judge, but I will say this...I wouldn't order from George Thomas ever again after this, also they were to get back to me and did not, as of yet anyway. I ordered a premium arrangement and received something that looked sad and maybe the cost of $25. The basket looked warped, old and used. I'm still waiting to hear back from someone. I've never bought flowers from here, but I stopped in during the Irvington Art Walk and they were really friendly...all smiles. They invited us to go back into the workshop area to view some of the arrangements they were working on, and their large glass walk-in fridge is up front where you can see all the flowers. I've always thought florists were kind of secretive (one of the many ways I'm weird), and I appreciate the open-ness here. We left with a business card and were told about their happy hour: during the last hour they're open each day (4:30-5:30pm), all stems are half-off. As pretty as the arrangement was, I just wouldn't consider it "premium" quality (which is what I paid for). In fact, it makes me wonder what a "standard" arrangement would even look like. The arrangement was sparse and lacked some of the flowers that should have been included. It also arrived in a smaller vase than what it was supposed to come in. The vase had a smaller opening than the one that was shown in the picture, which is why there were less flowers. Though customer service did give me 20% off of my order because of the complaint, I probably won't shop here again. read more

For our one year anniversary I wanted to recreate my wife's bouquet from our wedding day as a gift. I went to George Thomas Florist a few weeks before the date and asked if they could make that happen. They were very friendly and helpful (as always), asked if I could send them a picture and that was it. When I went to pick them up they'd used the picture to not only match the flowers, but to arrange them as close to possible to the original bouquet down to flower positioning. My wife cried. Also worth checking out is their happy hour. They do half priced stems every weekday starting at 4:30. I'll stop by once a month or so and ask them to create a $20 bouquet for me and they always do a fantastic job (and they always stay under the price I set). This is one of those stores that you go to and you're happy to spend money there because everyone's so pleasant and they all clearly care about doing a good job and making you happy. read more

I'm sentimental about George Thomas, since they've been around since I lived in Indianapolis over 25 years ago. The flowers are always fresh and delivery is always as promised. My friends and relatives are never disappointed, which is saying something, since the nationwide services often make delivery mistakes or provide less than satisfactory flowers. I was pleasantly surprised at the very low cost to get flowers to one of my dearest friends on Mother's Day this year. Furthermore, they have my trust, because they admitted when I attempted to order for some more of my relatives that they are overwhelmed with orders and might not be able to deliver on time. George Thomas handled the flowers for our wedding, and we were really pleased with the experience. I'm not very knowledgeable about flowers, and they did not get a very big portion of our wedding budget, but Melissa was able to create bouquets for my bridesmaids and me for a very reasonable price. I explained what colors I liked and that I wanted a blend of flowers and things that looked more like foliage, and I trusted her to choose what would look best. She showed me lots of choices and the end result was beautiful. Then, closer to our wedding, we decided that we wanted some greenery near the altar for our wedding. They suggested peace lilies, which they rented to us for a lower price. One of the florists had been to our venue before, so he was able to make suggestions on how to arrange them (and they looked great). It had been many years since I used George Thomas Florist. My previous visit was at their old location at 10th and Shadeland. My sister suddenly passed away recently and when we needed flowers, George Thomas came to mind immediately. With all of the chaos and grief, I did not order my sister's flowers until the day before her funeral, but George Thomas made it happen. I first looked at their website the night before I called and placed my order over the phone with Becca. I chose the Fireside red and white roses arrangement. It could be upgraded, but I went with the standard and was not disappointed. Just as she described, it was very full and beautiful. I came in under budget and did not feel pressured at all to spend more than I was comfortable. Compared to some other places, I felt I received a very good price. I am not so sure I would have gotten as nice of an arrangement at some other places, even if it had cost more. My order was taken in a prompt and professional manner. I almost couldn't believe how effortless it was and was grateful that it was something I could check off my list. That gave me a big sigh of relief. I also received an email receipt right away, as well as a confirmation of my order and delivery. My sister's flowers arrived when asked and were a beautiful tribute to her. Still adore this florist. I finally got to visit their store and was very impressed by their selection. Not only fresh flowers, but a great deal of potted plants and succulents that you can transfer into a terrarium. The workers are extremely attentive and accommodating. I was in and out in a few minutes and able to come back for my mother's arrangement. I was extremely impressed by. I told the florist I wanted sunflowers and lilies.
