I asked for huge centerpieces (16 of them to be exact) and while I did provide some inspiration photos, much of my ideas were a mish-mash. Cue Alva-Jean and her husband Dan...they smartly had me in to do a trial run with the flowers and I was able to view the mock design of the centerpieces, say yes, say no, add this or add that, take this away, and put that over here. Once that was all done, I had a beautiful mock up and Alva-Jean had a clear vision of what I was going for. The day of - I was delivered gorgeous white and lavender rose bouquets, the men all had gorgeous roses pinned to their lapels and the honored ladies had corsages. And man...those centerpieces were the star of the reception hall...they helped to transform the room! They were a hot commodity at the end of the night ... each of the flowers were built into a bowl that rested on top of the glass vase so that guests literally could take the flowers out of the vase and hit the road! The flowers were delivered on time (and personally by Alva-Jean and her husband). She even took the time to pin the brooch from my mother onto my bouquet. She was very communicative both by email and by phone through the whole process and it was a complete pleasure to work with her. I am so happy with the outcome...amazing florist!

A serendipity on our walk up from a nearby B&B this past summer. The photo of the gardens shows…read morewhat you will find -- a field of dozens and dozens and dozens of varieties of daylilies. Fascinating range of colors and sizes, bloom periods, all the rest. Owner Chris and the two young women who helped us were patient and helpful. Chris's mother makes some beautiful decorated ceramics, on display inside. We bought more daylilies than I had expected, lol, and my wife even got a new cultivar named after a family member, additional fee required. Up the road a little (20 mins) from Brattleboro. Mail order catalog, too, and the shipping which we requested for a particular time in the future arrived right on schedule. Seasonal, obviously, so check when they're open, but I think I saw all 7 days listed during summer peak period.

Story #1: My cousins forgot to bring a turkey with them from NYC. They called us last-minute to buy one ... on CHRISTMAS EVE! We went to the River Bend Market and asked if they had any non-frozen turkeys (my cousins left no time for thawing). River Bend not only had a range of sizes, but they were all FRESH, non-GMO, organic, and from a local farm in the neighborhood! Ended up being the best turkey I've ever had. Story #2: We once again had to get something last-minute. This time, a Christmas tree. During Christmas week. We drove all over the county looking for one. We finally found a nice one, but it was an hour away. We bought it, and then stopped by River Bend for some snacks and wine. Wouldn't you know it ... they had a whole selection of Christmas trees! Should've gone there first.

The team worked all day and did a beautiful job! A couple of the bushes didn't do well after the winter season but we attributed it to a very harsh winter. Unlike other reviews I read, who blamed the nursery for the trees/bushes not doing well, there can be many reasons for stress on your plants, such as weather and animal intrusion. Can't wait to get started on our patio project and trust Maple Hill to do a fabulous job!

I prefer to go to smaller stores than the big box superstores when I can to support local smaller business and to get things more quickly- this size has plenty to offer but it's faster than walking through a mega store to get a few screws or a new tool. 2) selection: hands down, this store has far more in stock than all other Aces and local smaller stores when it comes to power tools/ power tool option models from Dewalt, Makita, craftsman, black and decker and Bosch- among others. Decent selection of most things you could ever need for your projects and household stuff. Any time I've ordered online the order is there and ready. Recommended.

They had 1 paint can on the shelf, but no lid. The price marked on the shelf was $5.99. i picked up a cheap plastic lid hoping she would at least give me a discount or find me a lid so i did not have to buy one, that was supposed to come with the pail. Nope, the empty paint can rang up at 6.99 and she rang up the cover at 2.59 for a total of $9.58 for an empty paint can. I told her to keep it and i would go to Home Depot to get it. IHome Depot price was 6.99 and it came with a cover. I think Hamshaws need to empower their employees, the ability to work with the customer, if there is an issue, like i experienced. I am sure (maybe not)Hamshaws would rather have me leave as a happy customer and not a disgruntled one
