I would not recommend this so called university. I had a health declined due to autoimmunes and I was told that it isn't a disability and treated terrible when put in for a leave. I was penalized, charged and what's even worse is they are so called Christians. I would not attend the high cost,, the lack of care and treatment, and the audacity to tell me a SPED teacher that what I have doesn't count as a disability. RUN! there is better out there and most cost effective to what you get. read more

We went for the concert series. Its a free event. Always free always a nice price. Concerts are about 1-2 hours depending on the pieces they are performing. Space is limited and yes it's Newberg so people come early to get that spot because it's free. Maybe be prepared to not have a seat if you come just in time. Its a clean nicely designed theatre. Great sound. The Orchestra is a mix of community players and students. Very good players and a wide array of instruments although they are looking to expand. Anyone that has a piano and believe it to be up to snuff for a symphony a donation is being sought. Its a really good time a d you will be glad you went. read more

I went here many years ago and was only going to go one year and then to the UO (I grew up in Eugene) but I liked the small classes, visits to my profs homes, and general quality of classes and beautiful campus which has improved over the years. This is a private school so if you like to drink, have sex, etc, there are zillions of colleges to go to even UO, OSU, Southern Oregon. I finished up at Western Oregon & UO, had excellent teachers there, too. That being said there was a lot of drinking and pot smoking going on when I was there(g 1975)by a lot of my friends and athletic cohorts and yet it wasn't persecuted because most of it was done off campus. I particularly enjoyed the individual attention I received esp when I was having any serious difficulties in my academic or social life. They have a lot of dedicated employees. I also liked the closeness to Portland for social and sports events, plus I did a lot of partying at OSU which is basically just down the road...Keep up the great work! read more

We had some small hiccups along the way but all in all every hiccup we encountered was met with satisfaction on our end as the university was eager to help out and correct anything on their end. I believe my daughter will comité to have a great experience. read more

My son started as a Freshman here. Starting with the positives, the campus is very pretty (so was Stepford by the way), and the town of Newberg is very quaint. It wasn't the school for my son because he felt more like he'd joined a cult (mandatory chapel) than was attending a university. Most of the students there are like the "children of the corn." What we found when he decided to leave the university is that most of his freshman year curriculum doesn't transfer to other universities because the classes are so "specialized" for GFU, and seem to all have a religious undertone. My son is now at UofO and very happy there. We do not recommend GFU to anyone. read more

Our daughter is a senior here and is lamenting that this is her last year at this amazing university! The president is personable and involved with the students. The chaplains care and even lead small group Bible studies of which our daughter was lucky to be in one for part of her time at GFU. It is a strong Christian environment which our daughter really wanted as she didn't want the typical party campus. She met wonderful people here and felt cared for by many amazing faculty and staff. We highly recommend this university and hope our son chooses it as well! read more

I attended Foxy George a few years ago, and graduated with a bachelor's degree. I was very involved, as a House Manager, among other things. Here are some observations I have: 1) the students tend to be more strict/traditional than a lot of the professors. This may be because some of the professors are Quaker, while most of the students are non-denom/baptiist/etc. I enjoyed my religion/theology classes because the professors who taught them seemed open minded, non-judgmental, and were just generally cool, nice people. 2) if you're not a christian, OR you're not a baseball player, this is probably not the right place for you, unless you are interested in becoming a Christian. Some of my friends who were there were Catholic, and they seemed to generally enjoy themselves, but occasionally got annoyed/frustrated with other students, or got tired of the chapel services which are very protestant in nature. 3) the quality of the education is good. there are a few prof's who seem a bit bored with their job and just want to shock the students, a few who seem a bit self-righteous and have a political agenda, and there are a few outstanding ones who obviously LOVE teaching and love their subject matter. like any other place. 4) This is not a good place for people who are social drinkers, or who want to have sex before they're married, because you'll feel judged, and you could get in trouble if you're caught. You are asked to sign something saying you will not do those things while studying at GFU. Obviously, some people break the rules, but it is not accepted well by the general community. Also, there were no openly "out" people while I was there, even though I know some who have come out since graduating. I'm just telling it like it is-- you will either like this atmospherre, or you won't. I liked it some of the time, in the beginning, but towards the end I was sort of done with the rules. the staff are friendly and down-to-earth, but again, if you are not christian, or if you are uncomfortable with RA's potentially trying to get you to become more religious/hard-core than you already may be, you might start to dislike this place. don't come here just because your parents want you to. Parents, don't force your kids to come here. In my case, I wanted to go but my parents didn't want me to, in part because it's so expensive, but I'm glad it was MY choice. By the by, the junior's abroad program is wonderful!! I also did a semester abroad in Spain and highly recommend it! read more

I wish I could give the administration and professors different stars because the profs would get 5 and the administration would get 2 (Student Life would get 1 star). I graduated from GFU a while ago and many things have changed since then, particularly physically with the construction of new buildings. The campus is really nice and I liked the small-school feel. I still keep in touch with my professors and look forward to some of the alumni events. I would recommend this university because of the quality of education they would receive. read more

My wife and I both attended GFU and were extremely pleased with out experience. The school's main catch phrase is "Be Known". I feel that they truly mean this and actively work to achieve it. Professors genuinely work to learn your name and get to know you on a personal level. The experience and level of education we gained from GFU is worth the investment and we are already reaping the financial benefits of our investment in education with our current employments. If you are considering GFU as your avenue for education, go take a visit. Explore the campus, meet your potential professors and get a feeling for the school. I have no doubt that you will agree with what I've said and have a gut feeling that GFU is an exceptional school who value their students. read more

The professors here want to know you personally and they are more than willing to take time and help you if you are struggling with an assignment or understanding content.
