There are much worse in other schools such as some in the evergreen school district in Vancouver. If you don't know what I mean is that 75% of the school goes to tigard high school and the other 25% goes to Tualatin high school. The Van is all over the Portland Metro area at different times a year. I had no idea the Van would be part of this Compassion Clinic. It was awesome. What a great community event. Tigard High gets a gold star for hosting this event. Wooo Hoo!!!! I had a great time.

They ended up using the standard school photo everyone took at the beginning of the year, THAT I HATE WITH A PASSION instead of using the picture that I spend money and time to take that was supposed to be FOR THIS particular purpose. Now I get it, what's done is done and you can't change it. But after I made it clear to them that I am very upset with the mistake that they made, even if I followed all the steps to properly turning in everything they needed on time, I didn't even receive an apology from the yearbook people acknowledging that they messed up. All they did was blame it on the pandemic. So does that mean because of this pandemic you can make all the mistakes you want? Cause this pandemic not only hit you, it took everyone else out too. And as part of the student body, I would think that they would understand how important the final yearbook means to us. It is one of the major milestones in every person's life.I honestly was about to make my peace with this situation but the fact that I never received any sort of apology or anything in an apologetic tone, really pissed me off. I paid money for this yearbook like everyone else and I have to live with the fact you screwed up the one good thing I could have as a memory for my final year of high school. The High school students are too lazy to park in parking lot at Hazelia dog park. Why have a high school which students attend where you cannot park at the school of have permit parking makes no sense. So many students are fully able bodied capable of walking to big parking lot to get their cars yet they wanna take up spaces by dog park because too lazy to park in parking lot and take the spaces away from a disabled person who has walking challenges. DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT 1 STAR REVIEW!!!…read more I'm also a student attending SSA and have been for 6 1/2 years, and in contrast to other student reviews, I really enjoy and would recommend my school. and "Whatever's T" is exaggerating! I cannot emphasize this enough. Sure, sometimes it gets a little hot outside, but both Upper and Lower school buildings have air conditioning and you can just stay inside if it really is too hot out for uniforms, and the colors at the Upper School are white/powder blue and khaki, not dark at all, if you just take off your navy sweater/blazer (depending on your grade). I could see this argument made for the Lower School because they have gray and navy with evergreen sweaters, but there's so much shade there. If I were going to give one piece of advice, get breathable shoes and thin socks for summer. Your feet do get kinda hot in black shoes and socks, but other than that, the uniform is a bonus, not a bad thing. Uniforms really efficiently take away worrying about what people think you're wearing, and needing to spend all that time choosing every morning. Yes. I find my teachers have high standards, as they should. Yes, they're strict, but not the bad kind. Your teachers have to be strict to get an average student SAT score be 1320! (Compared to 1045 at a normal public school) On the average day, if you haven't forgotten anything, you just have a ton of fun with the teachers! Sometimes it can feel a bit overwhelming if you get a lot of homework in one day, but then you realize that half of it isn't due until next week, and you can make good progress without having to shut yourself up in your room for four hours. The only time you do need to do that is if you forgot about a big project and it's due tomorrow. In that case, that's on you, not how strict the teachers are! The workload is actually very light. On Latin- Sure, it's a dead language, but it makes you feel really reverent to be speaking, reading, and memorizing the way people actually spoke in the Biblical eras and History lessons. Also, you'd be surprised how much it will help with all the Romance languages, Spanish included, and you start in 4th grade and can choose not to take Adv. Latin in 8th. For the public school questions, almost all of us are Christian (Catholic included) and have some core beliefs that we don't think are being upheld correctly in the public school system and curriculum. That's why the school is here - freedom of choice. Certainly people can do great wherever they are. We are saying "bad things" like we disagree, not like we think they are evil. Parents, if you love your kids' mental, spiritual, emotional, etc. etc. etc. health, then Do, from the deepest depths of my soul, Do take them to SSA. I love my teachers, my peers, and my upperclassmen. I really look up to them and love to hang out with them. The class ratio is 1:10 which means I know all of my teachers well - even some I don't have classes with. The ratio means that I have been with roughly ~13 of the same 27 kids every year since I started in 2nd grade, and I recognize that in that 27 there are a lot of different opinions, theological beliefs, and backgrounds, which means we all need to learn how to handle those differences. Ex. My friends and I are currently debating Calvinism vs. Arminianism, Infant baptism, and sprinkling. (An example of what SSA kids do for fun :) ) I'm able to go to any of my teachers and ask for advice, even on things in my own life, not just school and I trust them so much. My parents and I are also really good friends with the families of many of the kids from across the grades, not just my grade, due to the House System. (Yes, Harry Potter!) All of the grades are divided into four houses (Essex, Milan, Castile, and Capet) which really help mix grades, and allow you to hang out, have a place in the school, and just get a time to goof off during competitions for the house cup. All this to say, DO, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO SEND YOUR KIDS TO ST. STEPHENS ACADEMY. (P.S. When they do come, Essex is the best House. -Totally Unbiased Source....)

The teachers are super strict and not the good kind of strict, the bad kind. The only reason why I like this place is seeing specific people here. The curriculum is HORRIBLE! No one wants to learn Latin. It's a dead language like what the heck! All the homework is very stressful and really drians out your energy whoch could affect your mental health. Parents, if you love your kid's mental health,don't take them here. They say bad things about public schools but not all public schools are bad. Read the public school reviews, most of them are saying good things about the school.

That's groomer behavior, which shouldn't be acceptable. The principal supports this behavior from his teachers, so I can only imagine what actually goes on behind the scenes.
