The restaurant has had some updates done. Gives a nice lounge feel. The bars & seating areas are…read morethe same places. I came in for the 4-6p happy hour & had the Jubba wings, side of oxtail Mac n Cheese (not HH), Strawberry Margarita, & Red Sangria. I arrived at 5p & it wasn't too busy since they opened at 4p. That soon changed. Thankfully, I put in my order pretty fast, & received the food promptly. As it became busier, I noticed there was a delay in food coming out. Especially if am entrée was ordered. The food itself was delicious. They didn't skimp on the amount of Oxtail & cheeses in my side order. The portion was also filling & I had leftovers (yeah!) It was hot, tender, & it had the cheese pull. The wings were tough, but the sauce was everything. So good, I didn't bother with the dipping sauce, that has a mayo consistency. The strawberry margarita was tasty, a little sweeter than I'm used to. The sangria was ok. It more of red wine, orange juice & maybe pineapple. The service was good until the crowd came in. My bill had an extra drink on it & had to have it corrected twice, with the result being refunded some money in cash. Despite this, I would still frequent the restaurant. The music is always enjoyable & the food is delicious.

We went for a little Galentine's dinner, and while the food was absolutely amazing (that oxtail mac…read moreand cheese is to die for ), the service was really disappointing. The restaurant was packed, which I get, but this has happened on multiple visits (July and September) the staff can be so rude and inattentive. During this visit, our waitress basically forgot about us. We never got water, had to track her down through the hostess, and watched her serve other tables while we waited. Eventually, she admitted, "omg I forgot about them," and they took 10% off our bill. A nice gesture, but it doesn't make up for feeling ignored. Great food, terrible service it's hard to fully recommend unless they fix their staff issues.

I only wish I had taken pictures of the stunning interior design here. I attended as a guest of a…read morebirthday party and everything was perfect from the parking, the welcoming entry into the event, the appetizers and drinks, dinner and eventually dancing/snacks. We had no idea that this venue even existed, mostly because we rarely go into Hartford for social events and weddings as they all seem to be in the suburbs. The building interior is so beautiful from the high vaulted ceilings, interesting lighting, tasteful fabrics, wood decor in the bar area, and just such an elegant feeling. We will definitely be back soon, either having our own events or hopefully we get invited back to someone else's again!

We were never offered our deposit back (thousands of dollars), despite the date getting booked by another party shortly after our decision to postpone the wedding. We cancelled with several months notice. We didn't receive any follow up communications. I suppose I am still really disappointed by the lack of compassion and the poor business practices. Aside from the money, which I made my peace with soon after, the gossiping about us was just plain hurtful. Despite the beautiful ambiance, I would never ever recommend this place.

When I arrived I was told it would be a 45 minute wait. Basically my reservation was useless. The 2 greeters made no attempt to address this whatsoever and didn't care at all. We decided to wait at the bar 2. The bar was not crowded with a couple of bartenders. We placed our order. The bartender looked like she didn't know what she was doing and greeted us with about as little enthusiasm and happiness as possible. (Maybe she was having a bad day). She didn't seem to know how to mix two drinks; a manhattan and a Negroni. She couldn't answer our question about what gin she had at the bar and just told us to ' look' as she pointed behind her. Then it took about 10 minutes for three drinks to arrive; the poorly made Negroni, a Coors light in the bottle (she never asked if I wanted a glass), the wrong glass of white wine that she had to redo with the correct one, then after 5 more minutes the manhattan arrived, also made poorly. She didn't charge us for that drink due to the delay saying she had to wait to get the vermouth. That's an odd excuse from a bartender. I've been a paid bartender, I know what to expect and she was just horrible. I'm sorry but that's a plain fact. If she worked for me I would have fired her on the spot and took over myself. 3. By this time, about 7:50, we were seated at an outside table. The crowd was dying down but our waitress was less than attentive and certainly not prompt. We have dietary allergies that she promptly noted but did nothing about as she said she would check wth the kitchen about of couple of possible choices we had interest in, but never came back to give us the answer. Now being quite impatient, we ordered anyway based on the menu description. One appetizer could not be eaten because of the allergy. We asked for the wine list, that never arrived, and it was 10 minutes until she came back to the table, but we ordered without it. The waitress seemed like she could care less about how we were doing or how she was performing her job. After dinner, ironically, the manager stopped by to ask how everything was, but we quickly said things were OK only because it would have taken too much time to make note of everything that had gone wrong. By now it was after 9 and my reservation was at 7. We had to leave. Suffice it to say, we won't be back. A sad overall experience indeed. I don't expect this restaurant and or management will be around for long as I have no reason to believe we were the only party to endure this horrible dining experience.

I was driving on Franklin Ave looking for a place to eat when I noticed Uchu for the first time…read more Uchu is a un upscale Peruvian restaurant that serves things like Chaufa, Lomo Saltado and other traditional dishes. The inside is comfortable, colorful and well appointed. Service was friendly, but they seem like maybe they're thinly staffed at the moment because, even though it wasn't particularly crowded, I wanted to get my check for about 10 minutes at lunch before I had to ask for it. I ordered a Pan con Chicharron off the breakfast menu, which they serve until around noon I believe. Even though it seems like lunch type sandwich to me, in Peruvian cuisine it's considered more of a breakfast item. It came with huge chunks of gently fried pork belly, slices of sweet potato and Salsa Criolla, which is the red onion salsa popular in Peru. It came in a huge crusty roll. that was full of the other ingredients and cut in half. I've never had another sandwich quite like this. The color was great. They were so generous with the ingredients that they spilled out of the bread. The bread was super fresh. They served it with aji and thin crispy potato sticks that I think may be called papas Hilo. So you could use the aji to add flavor if you wanted. They charged me $10 for this, along with complimentary chips, three different aji and Cancha (the crispy Peruvian corn kernels). I thought this was a tremendous value. I would definitely return to try more of the menu. 4.25 Stars
