My 17 year old Puggle Cookie got suddenly ill she had a stroke in her right eye she was blind, deaf, and could barely walk. We had to make a very difficult family decision. I called on a Saturday morning and spoke to Steele, he was very comforting and accommodating he scheduled my appointment for the very next morning. Steele explained step-by-step exactly what was going to happen and how the procedure would go. He was very reassuring and comforting during my time of need. Sunday morning Dr. Rachel came to my home. She was a very wonderful doctor, very professional and explained step-by-step. What she was going to do. She greeted my baby and sat with her, stroking her talking to her, loving her. We were all sobbing she was so gentle and my Cookie didn't even flinch when she received the first twilight sedation. We waited about 20 minutes. We all were able to say goodbye and spend time and then Dr. Rachel gave her the IV injection. The whole procedure took about an hour and a half from start to finish. It was the most beautiful way to say goodbye privately in my home with respect, dignity, and compassion. Last week it became clear that our almost 16 y/o Maltese Savannah was failing. People say you know when your dog is suffering and it's true. I stopped at Gentle Pet based on a previous call and recommendation from a friend. I met with Juanique. They are by appt. She was so lovely and helpful. I booked an appt. for my girl to be put to sleep at home. The next day she got even worse and they were so accommodating to move her up. Dr Racheal came to our home. She was so lovely and we took our girl out to her favorite spot and she was kindly & warmly put to sleep in our arms. I felt at such peace. It was as good as could possibly be expected. She took our girl with her and I picked up her ashes today. Dr Racheal was so caring and wonderful. LI had the experience of putting my last Maltese at the vet. This is the second time that I've utilized the services of Gentle Pet Crossing. Scheduling was easy and convenient. It was wonderful having a dedicated "sanctuary" location for those final moments. (They have an in-home option too which I might consider in the future.) Staff provided lots of tissues and water and privacy but were there when we needed support. The veterinarian Dr Katie Matzke was kind and compassionate, guiding us through every step. Ever since I learned about Gentle Pet Crossing years ago, I had always kept them in the back of my mind because I never knew when the need might arise. When it was time for 13 year old Lucy to cross the Rainbow Bridge, I knew who to call. A vet came to the house to administer the two shots. She was amazing. I can not appreciate a group more than I do the team at gentle pet crossing. Our dog was succumbing to his age and it came time to help him pass. Late on a Sunday I reached out to gentle pet crossing and to my surprise Juanique reached out almost instantly. She asked if we needed immediate euthanasia and I said we didn't and scheduled a home visit for Monday. Our patient decided it was his time earlier than scheduled. I contacted Juanique and she sent Steele over to take our pet for aquamation. Steele was completely amazing, gentle and caring. Lastly Jessica called to arrange the pick up of our pets remains and once again another saint. My son had called and we brought him there at 4:30 in the afternoon they had a beautiful paw blanket and basket waiting for him very compassionate. We picked him tonight a week later they gave us his paw print and remains in a beautiful urn and photo keepsake and a paw print necklace and then we went into the sanctuary room and lit candles and prayed for him and then we won't notice to him in a box that they had with notes to pets . She made numerous phone calls locating a Veterinarian who could do at home euthanasia. I felt that she really cared about our beloved Chloe. At the time, I did not even realize that they have the Aquamation process. but it is nice because everything is done right there, we don't have to wait for weeks for the boxes of ashes to come in the mail. My lovebird passed away on Christmas night of 2020 and I was torn apart. I did a lot of research because I had heard many horror stories of the cremation process "mixing up" with other people's pets. Then I found this amazing group of people.. they were so kind, so understanding, they went out of their way to help me get the process started (in their off time), even offered to help me get my sweet Jalapeño's remains from Ocala at the rescue I had her boarded at when she died. They explained that they perform aqua cremations which keeps each pet's remains separate. They let me sit with Jalapeño for as long as I needed to say my goodbyes .. such a lovely place, so kind.. I felt truly supported in one of the most heartbreaking and saddening experiences I've had. They placed some of her feathers into a beautiful memorial jar for me, I received a small urn and a certificate with her name on a small plaque which I have had on an altar surrounded with her photos ever since. I would 1000% recommend this place and would certainly be here again should the need ever arise in the future.
