He checked my unit both inside and outside. He added refrigerant and told me that I may have a leak which sounded like a big job to fix. we got cold air coming out right away. He called me the next day to check on me and I told him I was still cool. Two days later It stopped cooling!!!! I called the company and told them and the owner came out the same day and worked into the eveningHe had to go back into the attic which I'm sure felt like a steam bath. The motor had seized up. He took it off and went to get another, then went up to the attic-(steam bath) and replaced it. within minutes we had cold air flowing. Everyone that I dealt with was kind and considerate. Before they did anything he told me what he thought and how much it would cost and asked for permission to continue. I hope my cool air continues but if it stops I will call them again because I am sure they will stand behind their work.

He told me that after a pressure test on my gas line that there were two leaks in the gas line. He said the pipes could be rusted out and would need to be replaced. If I wanted this to pass inspection I had to okay his estimate for service for $1,155.00 This was $200 for his fee and $955.00 for the repair. I expected to be told that they dug up rusted pipes and replaced them. However, I found out that he subbed out the work to a plumbing company and the two leaks were minor. They involved changing the pipe tape where the fittings went together. This reminds me of going to the car dealer for a noise in the engine and being told it could be the transmission and if you really need to use the car then you have to approve the cost of repair. When coming back to pick up the car you are told it was just a belt, but, because you approved the cost of replacing the transmission, you have to pay $3,000 not $300 for a belt. I don't know if Alex Buie thought it is easy to take advantage of a person not present, or because it is easy to take advantage of a senior citizen, but the charge of $955 to replace the tape used where two fittings come together is exorbitant. I have no complaint with the work done, but I do have an issue with the ethics and the greed of Buie's Heating and Air Do not use this company if ethics and price are important to you.

They were unsure which unit needed troubleshooting and did not bother to call for clarification. They went on site on Friday, and by Wednesday we still had no proper updates. They repeatedly told us they would submit a repair quote, only to finally admit--after 5 days--that they did not know what needed to be done because they were unsure which unit required service. This wasted 5 days of my time! When we asked to speak with the "owner," who was the one performing the assessment at the time, we were told, "You can't speak with him because he's busy working." We were also working and needed this issue handled promptly. If communication and follow-up cannot be provided because you are too busy "working," then that reflects very poorly on your business practices. The lack of accountability and honesty was extremely frustrating. :) And for future reference, the operator should never raise her voice at a customer. Professionalism and proper customer service should always be maintained. I was the one dealing with the issue and the unnecessary delay, so that response was completely inappropriate. I strongly recommend additional customer service training for her.

We moved to Wears Valley in October 2020 and found that the HVAC system required service due to…read moredeferred maintenance and severe humidity in the crawl space. In other words the heat pump wasn't working properly. Tristar was sent by the home warranty company to resolve a covered issue. However there were many uncovered issues with the HVAC system and I called Tristar to return to address them. Tristar returned, inspected and diagnosed the entire system, and informed me of their findings. My options were to either attempt to repair a unit close to the end of its service life or replace it. We chose to replace it with a larger and more efficient unit. Tristar did this quickly and professionally. I inspected the old unit when they got it out of the crawl space and it was a wreck in obviously horrible condition. Obvious moisture damage. After the installation, George Williams (the owner) strongly recommended that I install a dehumidifier and told me in no uncertain terms that without one I'd shorten the service life of the new unit. So I asked him to quote me a price. I was surprised when he said he didn't sell them. He was just letting me know that I had to have one! So, I got one and installed it. He also told me that the zone system controlling the ductwork was in bad shape and may need to be replaced but to wait to see whether the dehumidifier would correct the problem. It didn't, but the crawl space dried out. The zone system continued to malfunction so I called Tristar again. They replaced the zone system electronic components. The ductwork itself was fine. After the work was completed George informed me that the water filter on my well pump was a mess and needed attention. I didn't even know it had a filter! George is just that way. If he sees something that needs attention he tells you. He's observant and conscientious. No extra charge. In my experience Tristar is a good company, run by a good man. I cannot recommend them more highly. The new system works very well and was worth the expense.
