David took the unit apart, and in removing the drain pan he found a buildup the was keeping the pan from emptying totally. He proceeded to remove the blower which definitely needed service and clean and reassemble the unit. I first met Evan in November of 2022, when we discussed repair of a gas fireplace, which he claimed would be fixed by ordering a special remote from the company. When I questioned if it could be any other issue, he stated that it could be the starter, but if it was that problem, the fix is cheap and he would cover the cost. Remote was due to be delivered in December. I never heard from Evan. Since then, I have called Shield Services and spoke to his receptionist on several occasions. I have been told multiple times Evan would be calling me, but he never did. The receptionist gave me a lot of excuses. First the remote was "out for delivery". I waited a week, then it was, "I'll have Evan call you". Waited again, no one reached out. I confirmed my contact information multiple times. Multiple calls and unanswered messages. Then I got in contact with the receptionist again who told me it was on backorder. How something can go from "out to delivery" to "on back order" makes no sense to me. I have heard about half a dozen excuses. If you are looking for more red flags, note that this business does not have an address (something I learned when I was filing with better business bureau).
