Outstanding !! In Hanover, we have many different pizza restaurants, and we have tried the majority of them and we must say, Genova's To Go has now become our favorite. As I voice text my review, I'm not sure if I took a picture of our pizza which was pepperoni with extra cheese and let me say it's done the right way. The cheese flavor is outstanding as well as the sauce, the crust and the pepperoni.. We have ordered here twice for pizza and yesterday on our way back from the BWI airport. We stopped and got two of their cheesesteaks, which are very good and made with their homemade bread and the flavor was just outstanding. We do highly recommend stopping here and you can dine in or do a phone in order which we have done these last several times and the food is always ready. The staff behind the counter are very friendly. Looking around at the seating areas inside the place is extremely clean and very well maintained and very presentable. And forgive me I thought we took pictures of our food and we did not. We just dove right in and child down. We promised to take pictures next time and add them with our review. I ordered a warm chicken parm sub. I could Not Be Happier with the results. A quick note.. it was going to take about 45 minutes to be ready so I called and asked why. The sequence that they heat and build the sub in takes time. And I'll tell you right now, it's worth it. The chicken is not nasty. It's all crispy and clean. No gristle or nasty components. It appears that they actually use very good chicken ingredients. It is a massive sub. I would have to be very hungry to eat the entire thing. lol. One of the better places in Hanover, but if you're from Pittsburgh or the north east coast in general don't expect that level of quality and flavor. Today was the second time we've ordered from here. The first time was amazing! I had the pizza sub and it was so good I couldn't get it out of my head. Tonight we finally decided to order again but were both very disappointed. My husband ordered the tuna melt and it was super fishy that neither of us wanted to finish it. My pizza sub was good but not as great as I remembered. I know that things happen or maybe they were super slammed. Maybe a third time could possibly change our minds? I have to say that my husband and I love going here for their Italian cold cut subs and cheese steak subs , but tonight for the very first time we thought we try some of their pizza. A gentleman took our order my husband ordered a supreme pizza. us thinking it was a supreme pizza that you know everything is cooked in to the pizza. This gentleman was not pacific. All he asked was is there something that we did not want on the pizza? meanwhile, the gentleman did not tell us that they just cut up. The onions, peppers and stuff and just top raw so when it came to our table, my husband and I looked at it and was like no this ain't right. He took it up to the counter where two young girls were one with blonde hair, one with light brown hair. The blonde hair was trying to figure out how to refund him on this pizza because we did not want it as soon as you would've picked up the pizza everything would've fell off. Everything was wrong in the pizza so the girl with blonde hair was having a little trouble. She didn't know what to do so she called the other girl over with light brown hair I'm sitting at the table. I can see all this and I can see the girl with the light brown hair with a snotty attitude there was no need for that and she continued with the snotty attitude, so that's when I got up from the table and went up there with my husband to see what was going on , she was very unprofessional with the way that she came off, rolling her eyes, There was no need for it and then to continue talking about it after it was taken care of I'm guessing by the manager after he explained that's how it comes if you ordered slices, but once again we were not told, but this young lady being very unprofessional from where we were sitting, we could see that she kept going around to other coworkers talking about it, and they kept looking at us, and I could see exactly what she was saying and by reading her lips and then other coworkers looking at us and then basically doing it right in front of us . can't believe they have someone like that working here. Since I'm vegan, I asked the shop what was in their pizza dough, then ordered a pizza w/spinach, broccoli, onions, black olives, mushrooms, extra sauce, NO cheese, and banana peppers. It was spectacular!! Genovas! You need to put that on your menu as a vegan option! And then be sure to get on the Happy Cow app that lists all vegan restaurants in the U.S. You would attract a whole new clientele! Part of what made this pizza so great was because the ingredients were so fresh, of good quality, and loved the quantity of veggies. Genova's isn't bad, but it is expensive. My personal size Stromboli with pepperoni, sausage, onions and green peppers was right at $15. They charge about $1.50 per ingredient. Want a side of extra sauce? That's gonna cost ya! And as far as the Stromboli goes like I said it's not bad but it's no Rays of Spring Grove. My wife likes the spaghetti with sausage well enough my son liked his cheesesteak and my other son enjoyed the lasagna. $65 out the door for 5 of us with only one drink purchased. read more

This place has great food however they have very little seating when it's busy. We came on a busy Sunday between our child's soccer games and were told there were no available tables. It was freezing outside so we really wanted to sit down and eat inside of the restaurant. There were empty tables behind a wall, but when we asked about these the staff said "we don't let people sit there". This is a total waste of resources and obviously done for staff convenience (so they don't have to clean). Super unfortunate. Once they told us this the staff made sure to come out and rope off this area so no one else would ask. Saw many people who had the same disappointment while we waited for our food to go. read more

After arriving at the store, I had to wait an additional half an hour to get my pizza. When I said something to the girl that people had come in and sat down at the table and ordered pizza and already got their pizza order. She got nasty with me and said if that's the worst thing that happened to me today I should be happy. total time waiting on a pizza was 50+ minutes and I do not need somebody to talk to me. We've gone to Genova's in Hanover quite a few times over the last 10 years. They were always more expensive for a pizza restaurant but the food was always quality. Subs and sandwiches were good - I like the tuna melt. Today's experience with take-out was a big disappointment and considering the prices I don't think we'll be back again. The cheeseburger sub was good, fries were typical of pizza place fries and the roll was good. Unfortunately everything else was just terrible. The fettuccine alfredo was a soupy mess of jarred sauce. And the sauce in the garlic knots was so hot that it melted the lid, leaking sauce all over the garlic knots, making them soggy and inedible. I called Genova's about the garlic knots and they offered to credit $3.99 towards a future order, but we won't be using that credit anytime soon. I appreciate their effort to try to make it right, so 3 stars instead of 2. If you go, I'd recommend dining in instead of paying for take-out. read more

This place is wildly overpriced. Arancini tastes like bland frozen nothingness with a little cheese. The lasagna was just ok. Sauce tastes like they just poured a can of crushed tomatoes in a pot and added a little sugar and maybe a pinch of salt. It was very basic and not worth it. Cheesesteak sub had very little meat but flavor was ok. Chicken in the chicken parm was serviceable but that's about it. Overall I would not recommend that anyone blow their money. There are many other good choices around town for pizza, subs, and Italian. My family will certainly never return read more

Honestly, this is one of the absolute best places in Hanover. My favorite pizza has meatballs and ricotta cheese but I also love the supreme pizza which gives the ability to choose your own toppings. Tonight we thought we would take advantage of their buy one pasta dish get one 1/2 off special they run on Tuesdays. My wife wanted spaghetti, meat sauce, mushrooms, peppers and onions. I wanted their ziti. Little did I know the thing that would get 50% off was the spaghetti part of the spaghetti, meat sauce, mushrooms, peppers and onions which was $4.99. The rest (meat sauce $3.99, mushrooms $1.99, and peppers and onions $1.99) was full price. I think this was very cheap of them. While I may continue ordering pizza and subs from them THEY WILL NEVER GET A PASTA ORDER FROM ME AGAIN. They may have made some additional money from me this time but in the long run they will have lost more money than they made. My family and I enjoy this place. Pretty reasonable for lunch as well. Seems to be mainly TO-GO so it's never overly crowded and overwhelming. Service is prompt. Portions are fair. Always have the games on. They have latest and greatest drink machine, it's the little things that matter to me. Food is always hot and fresh. Assortment of subs and pastas.Portions are fair. Ok, after being a loyal customer for over 3 years and giving Genova's the best review the ultimate rejection occurred. We spend over $2000.00 a year at Genovas as a family but my last order was a disaster. After ordering a delivery our pizza showed up an hour later cold. I complained to the delivery driver who said it wasn't his fault the sent him to Mcsherrystown first with our food when we live in West Mannheim off of Fairview. So then I called the "manager" who acted like it was no big deal and never even apologized. The worst part of this is that i received no response from the ownership after an email was sent to explain my disappointment. My $2000.00 will now go elsewhere. read more

As a fan of Genovas when they used to be in the Manchester shopping strip with the outdoor area, we wanted to give the Hanover location a try. My wife got the normal loaded Cold Cut which she said was amazing. I got lasagna and my son got pizza and the meal and experience was great. Its a very cozy atmosphere and its always warm and welcoming. One of my favorite things at their Hampstead location is the new Coke machine which allows you to make custom Coke drinks and they said they are getting that soon which will be awesome. I went to the Hanover location many years ago, it was close to an hour wait for one carry out pizza, and the price was extraordinary high for the size. I recently went to their new Hanover location (same area, but bigger location) and was blown away. The parking lot was very spacious and inside was amazing. The last location was crowded and always felt like you were in the way and about to be hit by the door while waiting for your carryout order, but this new location is completely different. Not only is there a huge amount of room around the counter, but there are several people at computers who can take your order and help you. Also, the counter is separate from the dinning and not overly close to the door so you never feel like you're constantly in the way of someone while you wait for your order. I called in my order for two Extra-Large pizzas, was told it would be a 15-20 min. wait, went in after 12-15 minutes and went right up to the counter to pay without having to wait in-line. Paying was a breeze (took far less time than most places) and my order was already done and waiting for me--super hot and right out of the oven. I was very impressed the pizza was actually done within 15-20 minutes like promised, especially since it was a Saturday evening. I was also extremely impressed with the easy and fast checkout process that got me in and out of the restaurant in record time. It was frankly the fastest I've ever picked up any to-go order from any restaurant before in my life. Having more than one person to take your order/help you made all the difference in the world and having three people at the counter was the best customer service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. In addition to great customer service, the pizzas were amazing! Firstly, the size was actually true to size. The 20-inch Extra-Large was actually as large as advertised unlike some places who list one size on their menu and then give you a drastically smaller than listed pizza. Secondly, the pizza was delicious. This was far superior to the pizza I had gotten from them years ago, so much so that if I hadn't known it was the same restaurant I would have bet money this was some new fancy restaurant that had just opened rather than Genova's. Genova's To Go actually became my new favorite pizza place after I had just one slice of pizza it was that good. The prices are average and actually less than my former favorite pizza place. For two Extra-Large pizzas that were actually as large as advertised and mouthwatering delicious, I felt the price was fair. I got a lot of food for the price I paid. First yelp review I have ever put because I felt like I got ripped off. I have been looking at yelp for years, but Geneva's pushed me to do this. A kids Ravioli is 6.99 and my son got three pieces of Ravioli. That is a rip off. 3 for 6.99. I got a tuna salad sandwhich for lunch one time (I get tuna salad all the time, but this was the first time here) and it tasted spoiled. They have had issues with their online order system, causing pizza orders to be very delayed. They attempted delivery at the wrong location, after having delivered a few times, causing a major delay when hosting family and friends. read more

Decided to give Genovas another try and it was a complete fail. A cold cut sub, a steak sub and french fries was...Wait for it, $27. Not only was the price outrageous, but the subs were horrible. Completely dissapointed on all accounts and for us, this was the last straw. We do not recommend this establishment. Instead, give Sal's a shot, they are a few minutes down the road or even Brothers in Mcsherrystown. 2 thumbs down all around. read more

Absolutely the "Worst" customer service I have ever experienced.! I placed an order for pick-up. When I got home I realized I did not get my complete order and called the store to ask them if they could send me the rest of my order. The manager (Sergio) absolutely refused to send the rest of my order to me but told me if i wanted to come back to the store he would give me what was missing. So now (to no fault of mine) I am out money and did not get my food. I am totally disgusted by this experience.!! Stay away from the salads they are awful, very plain and they give you one packet of dressing that is sitting on the top of the salad. I'm not from Hanover but have lived here for 10 years and couldn't find a decent Italian sub. I found this place about a year ago and love the Italian sub. I've ordered this sub a few times and it is great every time. So now I finally found a great Italian place. I will be trying other items in the future.
