During my out of state work travel I stumbled upon this charm of a restaurant. I'm always searching for the non chain non corporate restaurants and when I discovered this gem, I was pleasantly satisfied. I met the owner and had the most delightful conversation. She informed me they make everything from scratch. Every meal they prepare is treated as if they are preparing it for them self. The presentation was artfully inviting and the flavor was exceptionally delicious. Basically great flavor chemistry. I have been traveling to Newton, KS for two years now and the only regret I have is that I had not discovered this culinary delight much sooner. Upon my return to Kansas in a few months, I'll return to Genova Italian Restaurant to explore more of their menu. What I liked most; I grew up in an Italian family. Eating at Genova reminded me of those times. Rosie (the Owner) and company have captured the art form of creating Italian cuisine and bring a little piece of Italy to the heartland of Newton, KS. Went here the first time tonight, and I was NOT DISAPPOINTED! I wanted to stop to Arby's and grab a Beef N' Cheddar and curly fries like I usually do, but I decided to try some of the more obscure restaurants in my town. NO REGRETS! Got a warm welcome from the staff, and was instantly seated. It's a bit pricey though! Tried the Stromboli and Pasta Sampler. Reviews below. Lasagna- Simply WONDERFUL!!! Incredible ratio to pasta to meat to cheese to sauce. 9/10. Manicotti- Pasta nice, ricotta a bit grainy, and a lot of onion. Not bad, but I give it a 7.5/10. Spinach Ravioli- Tastes incredible, but has an unappetizing olive green color. 8.5/10. Stromboli- The best thing I tasted. Tastes like a thickly stuffed pizza crust, which is what a stromboli basically is. Very filling and comes with red sauce! 10/10. Overall, this was a great experience and I will surely be back! I have seen mainly sub-par to decent restaurants in my town, but I have found one of the few gems in Newton! Recommend to anyone who cuts through! read more

While near Newton visiting relatives, staying at Hesston in a hotel, we were looking for something different than fast food. It was close to closing time so we ordered carryout. We are a bit finicky and that being said, our order was post on! We had the Chicken Parm and Chicken Pomadoro both of which we mixed it up a bit. The food was outstanding! Highly recommend visiting or carry out either way! The knots with dipping oil really hit it, rounding out our meal. The only thing I wish we'd have done was ask for grated parm to top off the entree. We'll make Genova a part of our trip when we visit again! read more

Great location for out of town diners. Love the service (Rosie) and the food. We 5 Adults had a reservation so got seated immediately. Our table was served 4 different dishes and each loved their choice. The bread is warm and yummy, in fact they brought us more. We shared 2 salads because of their size and both were good and fresh. Sound like a lot of food? Well it was and we left filled the the brim, without a taste of dessert. We were looking to drive out of town to dine and will make plans to do it again soon. read more

My sister lived in Newton so one night we decided to try Genova. Phenomenal food. We got a chance to talk with the owner who is delightful and she told us about how she ended up here from Italy and about the family recipes she uses. Check it out you won't be disappointed... You can't just eat there one time. It will be a hankering you get for the rest of your life! The Wichita resty that I loved, Angelo's (had a fire and never re-opened in around 95.) Genova's puts Angelo's in the dust. I live in Newton, and we eat out quite a bit. When we're hungry for Italian, we DO NOT LEAVE NEWTON. It's just that good. read more

My family had a very good first experience here recently! Great authentic food, very generous portions, great service, and laid back atmosphere! I had the Portobello ravioli and I NEED more, lol. Genova is a hidden Italian food gem in SC Kansas. It's atmosphere and lack of a wine menu are possible drawbacks, but the quality of the food makes up for those things. Always fresh, always hot and very tasty. Go-to dishes are the portobello ravioli and the linguini tutti de mare. And don't miss the bread--it's fantastic. read more
