Buyer Beware! Do not be taken advantage of as I was by not first receiving an estimate. I am a senior citizen and should have been more astute. I needed my Kohler Flush Tower replaced in my toilet. I figured a plumbing company would range around $250. I used Genevie because they have done work at my house in the past. I requested a service call in late October. The plumber and apprentice initially came early November. They did not have the needed part on the truck and attempted to find to no avail. It needed to be ordered and they would return to install. They returned this past week to install the part. The part cost $36 in accordance with the service work order invoice received after the work was completed. This is the sticker shock!! I was charged $426 for a job that took 20 minutes to install. I was given a $43 discount. I paid $383 - absolutely ridiculous. When I called the company to inquire about this exorbitant charge, I was told they would call me back the next day. They did not, I had to call back! I called back the next day and was transferred to the office manager, I'm assuming. She was very disrespectful and dismissive. She told me I was charged for two service calls at $195 per hour. That is extremely overpriced!! I won't ever use this company again, they have lost a customer. If you use them, make sure you get an estimate in advance. Lastly, when service people come to your home, they should know to remove their boots before proceeding into your home. This you should not have to tell them. read more

Had a leaking commode over the weekend. Called Monday morning when they opened and was told they would be there between 3 & 5pm. They called back and said they could be there at 11am. Fixed the issue promptly and decided to have them look at a couple of other minor issues. Fixed everything and cleaned up after themselves. Very happy. Bill was very reasonable. read more

The work performed, which was the replacement of an exterior hose bib, was fine, but I was way over charged. The time spent actually on my property replacing the hose bib took just over an hour, but I was charged for a total of 2.5 hours (@ $150/hour) due to the company's policy to charge the customer for the plumber's travel (at the full rate of $150/hr) by starting the clock once the plumber leaves his previous job. On top of that, there was a $100 'ARRIVAL FEE' for the appointment. Neither the cost for travel time or arrival fee were disclosed when the appointment was made with the owner several days prior, or when the plumber arrived before the work began. What frustrated me was that I had no control over where the plumber's previous appointment was, and even before the plumber had even arrived, I was on the hook for $250!! I did contact the owner of the company to confirm the company's policy on charging travel time, and if it was true, how I witnessed the technician spend about 10 minutes smoking before coming to my door (while I was apparently on the clock). The owner said he was only responsible for booking the appointment and not what occurred during the appointment, what the plumber did with his time, or what he ended up charging for time/travel (since the owner was not actually there to witness it). He did offer to split the travel cost with me. I will not be using this company again, and recommend anyone who does use them make sure you get an agreement of their costs before setting any appointment. read more

Called them about a stopped-up bathroom sink. They came by, added some fluid(note that I had already tried Roto-Rooter and a snake, but they didn't work), cleared out the stoppage(10 minutes max), then, Wham-bam-thank-you-mam - $150 for labor?, $50 for PARTS. In addition, there was a leak under the same sink, which they didn't even check. I ended up doing the plumber work after the plumber left. My wife called them to let them know(not irate, just FYI for future) that they should check for leaks also(more $$ for them, right?). The actual plumber called back and was completely irate with her. How can I put this plainly - There are lots of good plumbers out there, which these guys are not. read more

We had a dreadful problem with another plumbing company that got their snake stuck in our sewage line. They quoted us a price of $9600 to excavate and remove the snake. Nick, from Genevieve Plumbing, was able to squeeze in an extra appointment on the same day. He even made a special effort to do this so I would not have to pay the after hours rates. In no time at all, Nick was able to retrieve the snake. The cost was less than $700 and I'm not sure how they knew to give me a military discount, but I am military and they did give me that discount even though I never asked for it. This company from the first person I spoke with, who was Linda, was professional, thorough, efficient, and KIND. We have lost this value in business as bigger businesses have taken over. While installing a new water heater in our home a Genevie technician did damage to the sliding door they used to bring in the water heater. When I called to report the damage I asked for a manager or owner to come to our home to inspect the damage. All I got was a call from the technician who did the repair saying he couldn't remember whether or not there was damage to the door before he got there. Since then I have called back multiple times and the owner refused to take my call, return my messages, or come to inspect the damage. Because of their careless treatment of our home and unprofessionalism in resolving the issue we won't be using Genevie Plumbing again. read more

Wow! A lifesaver! The faucet in my downstairs basement broke and hot water was gushing out everywhere ( I had know idea how to turn the water off!) I originally called another plumbing company, Jiffy Plumbing, and they told me it would take AN HOUR to get to my house (it was around 6pm at night). NO WAY, I called Genevie and since they are located in Charles County, their plumber (David) arrived at my house within 20 minutes! I was sooooooo thankful. He even let me go to Lowe's and purchase a faucet...and when I got back he installed the faucet quickly...saving me money. And what's even better, i had no choice but to trust David in my home while I ran to Lowes (I live alone)...and when I got back, nothing was taken :-) I think I received a fair price considering it was after hours and the service was excellent. I've owned several homes, and was so glad to find Genevie Plumbing after I purchased my second home. They are honest, competent, and reasonably priced. I have even recommended them to my parents, who are seniors, because I know there are unscrupulous people in this world who would take advantage of them, if they could. They fixed the problem but I believe I was severely overcharged. I had low water pressure and my hot water heater stopped working. My house is about 5 1/2 year old. I was told the water pressure valve was bad and the part would cost $150. Then he went ahead to clean out the water heater in hopes that it would fix the problem, which didn't. I was charged $380. He then ordered that part and told me he was able to get the parts for the water heater for free because it was barely out of warranty and that he would need to come back to install the part for another $165. I ended up paying $545 to replace a water pressure valve and to replace parts in my water heater. They fixed the problem, which I think any plumbing company could have done, nothing out of the ordinary. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN and I do not recommend this company because they are over priced which to me is scamming desperate people out of their money. You only get one chance to scam me. Called to fix an issue with shower faucet. Technician arrived and tried to fix, had to leave to go get parts, over an hour of travel time. At our home for total of 40 minutes and charged 2 hours and problem not fixed. Tech said we needed to break into wall to repair/replace. We went to store and problem solved with counter guy and fixed it ourselves for $12. Called office to discuss charges and arrange for compromise, was treated rudely and repeatedly hung up on. Technician very nice and understood concerns, office personnel and owner was the problem. A little common sense would have gone a long way. Completely unprofessional and would never recommend them to anyone, steer clear! Have never negatively rated company until now. read more

In 2013 we purchased our first home and gave birth to our son all in the same month. Ideally we had hoped to settled in and enjoy a relaxing year, unfortunately that did not happen. Shortly after closing we discovered the main drain line in our home needed to be replaced. This was really going to be a tough job because our home is on a cement slab, and our flooring would need to be removed and the pad would need to be jack hammered. Thankfully the job was covered by our home owners insurance, but we would have to move into a hotel with our newborn while the work was being completed. We contacted Genevie and quickly discovered that we had found the company for the job. The owner Paul arranged for the work to begin immediately and they finished up in a quick and timely manner. I was 100% satisfied with the work Genevie did. Now fast forward to spring 2015. One morning I noticed that the brand new laminate flooring was buckeling in a different part of the house. I immediately contacted our insurance and Genevie. We were dismayed to discover another plumbing issue that had accrued. Paul not only began the work immediately, he also worked endlessly with my insurance company to get this repair covered as well. Without his help and support I think I would have lost my mind. Not once did I feel like the plumbers Pete (Paul's brother) or their two sons did not have our best interest at heart. If you are looking for a professional company who will treat you with respect and like a human being than Genevie is the best choice! read more
