The wait wasn't too bad, we killed the time by checking out a few stores nearby! The place is small and tight! So I offered to walk our shopping bags back to our Airbnb. So glad I did!! As a table we shared the Brussels sprouts and cheese curds! The Brussels were amazing! The Korean BBQ sauce the use was great!! The cheese curds were good, but the best I've ever had!! Like I mentioned before the mockingbird sandwich was perfect. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juiced, hot and fresh! I'd skip on the season fries, unless you're a cumin lover. My friend got the BLT which was a bit disappointing for her, only 3 pieces of super thin (think Tyson) bacon, and the guacamole it comes with is def from a cup, tastes like cleaning products! She was very happy she asked for it on the side! The Hugo rose spritz was good, maybe not the best fall drink but would be a fantastic hot summer day option!! Our server Michelle was fantastic!! Truly made us feel so welcomed and taken care of!! Her charming and bubbly personality was very enchanting!! You can def tell locals love her!

She says sit down and moves a pair of gloves that belong to the woman next to me. So I sit down and get ready to order when, the woman next to me taps me on the shoulder and says she's saving the seat for someone who will be here soon so I'll have to get up... The bartender looks at her, then looks and me and shrugs her shoulders... Glad I didn't pay the meter before I sat down. I didn't know you could group up and reserve seats at the bar before your party is there. My bad. Now I know. I should have made reservations... for the bar stool... I thought I was becoming a regular. I'll have to seriously think again. That really felt pretty weak. Super disappointing.

It is a great feel for an afternoon lunch and although we were not there for dinner it would be an awesome experience. The food was good, tasty, and definitely want to try more on my next visit. The only surprise were the tacos. I had two different tacos, the Gringo with ground beef and the Carne Asada. Ok, yes I am a Gringo but it was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. The carne asada was bland, no flavor, and covered in some sort of avocado cream an imitation of real guacamole. Just a blip of some sort because everything else was excellent including the pork chop, veggies, awesome mashed red potatoes with the skin. The view is excellent overlooking Lake Geneva and the decor and feel was perfect.

I ordered the grass fed burger medium rare and when it came out I was shocked -- I'd never seen a more rare burger served in my life. I was hoping to find another great restaurant in town as there aren't a ton of options, but I was definitely dissented. The food isn't worth the prices. The service wasn't memorable. I'd potentially give it another shot but I wouldn't feel comfortable ordering anything with meat after my experience.

It's not very big inside, but there are a handful of high-tops, and seats along the bar. At the front of the room there's a stage as well. Sounds like they often have live music, which would be really fun to come back for. I was with a group of gals for a wine tasting. I'll say I loved all of the wines but one. Lots of great variety here! We all felt a little shorted on the tasting itself, as the woman leading out group was spread thin helping/educating multiple groups at once. We of course had to get a charcuterie plate to pair, and that was delightful. Best part? You get to take a bottle home of your favorite wine you tasted, which was a total surprise to us. In addition to their wines, they have tons of other drinks available at the bar. Custom cocktails, a whole section dedicated just to Old Fashioneds, plus some local brews. Their food menu is made up of mostly snack-style food, with many tasty picks from cheeses and meats, to spreads and small pizzas. After our tasting, we enjoyed their side patio - I had a lavender cocktail of sorts with an adorable butterfly ice cube. Points for presentation! I'd come back!

The mansion was built in 1856, making it the first mansion in Lake Geneva. The estate has been completely redone but charming details were kept. Along with a mansion where you can book a room, Maxwell also includes beautiful gardens, lounges, outdoor fireplaces, a heated pool, croquet and bocce ball. There is also a separate area in the back with motel rooms. Like I said, I was there for a lil' drink. There's a bar inside the mansion (Apothecary Bar) with all kinds of medical and druggist paraphernalia, with the space being a tribute to Dr. Philip Maxwell. But it's the speakeasy, which is accessible outside in the front of the house, that you'll want to visit. Ask for the password inside the mansion, and they will let you into a dark, below-ground bar. It's all decorated in prohibitionist flyers, and even the bartenders are dressed up in period costumes. It's a really cool and unique bar in Lake Geneva.

Focusing the review on the apothecary bar. You need to know the password to get in the speakeasy. A few days after we visited the speakeasy, we went in to try the apothecary bar to get some food and drink. A friendly helpful bartender, explained all their creative cocktails, shared the pub food that they offered, and answered questions. We ordered a flatbread pizza and a spinach artichoke dip as well as a couple of cocktails. They served us at a table where we sat on a couch in a room just across the hall and were quite comfortable. There are other rooms where you can go - not much seating in the actual apothecary bar.
