The meal, served buffet-style, included a salad of seasonal mixed greens, rolls, mashed potatoes, mostaciolli sautéed in olive oil & garlic, chicken piccata, roasted vegetables (served cold), and chef-carved roast sirloin. Plated brownies were brought out for dessert. As far as banquet hall food goes, the quality was exceptional. The entertainer on this day, John Ludy Puleo, is a gifted vocalist who emulates the styles of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tom Jones, Bobby Darin, and other Las Vegas greats of the '50s-'80s. Following lunch, his nostalgic 90-minute show delighted the audience. I was underwhelmed by the service at this event. If you wanted a beverage other than water, you had to go and get it yourself. When I pointed out a soiled half-filled water glass to a server, he actually picked it up, examined it, gave me a ridiculous "explanation," and set it back down on the table! The guy carving the sirloin whittled off a tiny piece; when I asked for more, he made a face. Finally, it seemed rather odd that the restroom doors were propped wide open the entire time.

When I called to report the error to the store, not only did they credit my delivery fee, but further corrected the mistake by promising to deliver flowers to her on my original delivery date as well! I thought that was exceptional. I wasn't upset about the error--flowers are nice to get any day, I had just wanted them to be aware to avoid confusion later in the week. Their custoner service went above and beyond to ensure I was compensated. I'd selected a local small businesses on purpose and really feel it was money well spent. My sister loved her boquet.

Partially covered space and uncovered. It was a great space for some outdoor seating and games, as well as a space for kids toys and entertainment. The surrounding area has a beautiful park with the dam and playground. This would be a beautiful space for any event, the staff I spoke to was all very friendly and made our time there enjoyable!

She was ahead of schedule, organized and extremely reasonable as far as cost(s.) She met with us on the weekend as we live in Illinois and did an on-site visit at the location in Lake Geneva to assist in planning and positioning for the flowers. Another wonderful thing about Toni is her creativity. She creates arrangements and bouquets that are whimsical and inventive. Although I am sure she will put together a more plain arrangement, the bouquets my sister had from Toni were amazing. They were unique -- I had not seen anything like them before. In addition, the style fit perfectly in with a Lake Geneva backyard wedding, down to the Mason Jar wildflower chair sets. I tend to be highly critical of vendors and have been a part of several weddings (sisters, friends and mine) and Toni/Gia Bella was top notch. I highly recommend her to any bride looking for fabulous flowers.

My brother and his wife treated me to a weekend at the Hamilton Inn. (They had stayed there a year…read moreago and raved about it - for good reason!) This gorgeous 1861 mansion is exquisite, perfect down to the last detail. The multi-course breakfasts, created by innkeeper (and Culinary Institute-trained chef) Gloria, were off-the-charts delicious and kept my belly full til dinnertime, even after a day spent hiking the gorgeous Kettle Moraine. I slept deeply on the luxurious comfy bed, but I'd eat saltine crackers and sleep on a cot to hear Gloria's stories! Gloria has a talent for being present but never intrusive. She'll give you a house tour with fascinating tidbits (from John Belushi to the Underground Railroad!) but ask about her journey from Woodstock NY to Whitewater WI for a rollicking story with a happy ending!

Like so many, my wife and I were ready for a respite from our COVID-19 exile. Two nights at the…read moreelegant Hamilton House was just what the doctor ordered! Built in the 1860s and a stop on the Underground Railroad, the spacious, high-ceilinged HH exudes history and charm. Innkeeper and owner Gloria Buley greeted us warmly; I like to think I could see her smile through the surgical mask she was wearing. Our well-appointed room had a comfy king bed and a recently remodeled en suite. The wardrobe contained two plush bathrobes; a small table held bottles of Perrier, chocolates, fresh flowers, and two surgical masks. Like our room, the inn's common areas are immaculate and tastefully furnished with period antiques and Oriental rugs. Our two breakfasts were highlights! Gloria's a CIA culinary school grad and it shows. Fresh-squeezed OJ, omelettes, French toast, baked apples, sausages, Canadian bacon--whew, I don't eat nearly this well at home. Breakfast was also a chance to get to know Gloria. A recent transplant from Woodstock, NY, she purchased the Hamilton House weeks before the coronavirus shut down the world. I'd be down in the dumps, but Gloria seems indefatigable and is using the time to, among other things, install a garden walk that will pay homage to the nearby Birge Fountain, circa 1903. We're already looking forward to our next visit! A tip: One of Wisconsin's best supper clubs, the Duck Inn in Delavan, is a 15-minute drive from the HH.

Since we had a significant amount of kids joining us, we chose to have a little play kitchen and some games for them to play with. I think this is amazing touch as most venue spaces don't offer additional activities for kids. We also had a s'mores bar set up which really gave the party a cute unique feel. Both the adults and kids had fun making tasty s'mores on a chilly day. Holly was our host, and she was very helpful through out the duration of the party. There was plenty of space for our group, and we heard many compliments. Our party was held on one of the coldest days of the year. The interior was so warm in spite of the large doors being glass. I can imagine how beautiful the events would be on a summer day with the doors open, too. This space is uniquely designed to accommodate events throughout the year.
