This is a good place to go for genetics. Dr. Neda Zadeh goes above and beyond providing patients with the best care possible. She is very attentive and listens to all your needs. This is one of the only places that has pediatric and adult genetics in Orange County. Checking In to your appointment was easy and the receptionists are always so friendly and kind. The genetics coordinators are also so friendly and very helpful. If you are looking for the best geneticist for pediatric and adult, look no further than Dr. Zadeh. I had two appointments with this center one was a consult and one was a genetics test (blood draw). Staff was super easy going and very communicative. I arrived for my appointment and waited maybe 2 minutes (I was 5 minutes early) before I was taken back for my appointment. Nurse was experienced and quick with the blood draw. No bruise after words. Answered all my questions I had about results and the screening. Took really good care of me throughout this whole experience and eased all my nerves. read more

The ultrasound tech was absolutely fabulous. But I found the front desk to be very pushy. My doctor had sent the order asking them to do the NT measurement only. They called me telling me I need to schedule for that, blood draw and genetic testing. I told them I'm getting the rest done elsewhere and only need the NT. They still told me at the confirmation voicemail I needed the blood draw. I had to call my doctor and confirm that I didn't need to get that through them. They made me sign forms when I checked in that I was refusing the blood draw and genetic counseling. {{{My doctor didn't order them!!}}} They made me even sign a form saying how much the blood draw would be even though I had "refused it". Not off to a good start. I'm hoping the billing won't be a nightmare. Still... Props to the ultrasound tech. She was very friendly and personable. read more

I appreciate the the genetics center is being cautious regarding Covid. I felt completely safe - masks and distancing are enforced. I had 2 interviews with genetics counselors. I don't recall their names (Emily? with short dark hair and another girl with longer dark hair). Both were professional, kind and patient. I felt very comfortable sharing personal information with them. Dr. Zadeh, who I met briefly during my first visit and then had an appointment with during my second visit, is one of a kind! She's so sweet and friendly. She immediately put my at ease, she's very intelligent. She gave me a ton of information and if she wasn't certain about something, she researched and then let me know. You can tell she is very passionate about helping families. I really appreciate her diligence in trying to help me determine if my condition is cause for concern. I highly recommend her. All that said, it was extremely hard to get my first appointment. It took weeks of me leaving messages and calling often to get through to somebody who could schedule me. Even returning calls to confirm my appts was hard because it's tough to reach somebody or get a call back. I hope this improves. Dr Zadeh was booked out pretty far - but the wait was worth it. I can't speak to billing or insurance but I can say that they were able to let me know if tests were covered beforehand which was helpful read more

I had a prenatal appointment here. I set up my appointment by going to their website and clicking on "Request to Schedule". I received a call to schedule my appointment the same day. The day before my appointment I called their office and had to leave a message. They called me back within the hour and were very patient and friendly. My appointment the next day was at 8am. Parking was a breeze and every single staff member I dealt with was very professional and friendly. I don't normally leave reviews for doctor offices but all of these negative reviews really surprised me so I felt compelled to share my experience. My whole appointment took less than an hour and a half. I had a perfectly pleasant experience. read more

First off the parking is terrible. It is definitely a mission just to get a parking space. Second, the wait time is horrible. Waited an hour and a half just for blood work. When I first needed to make my appointment I made over 10 different phone calls. But when the office is confirming an appointment they have no issue picking up the phone to call you, & get your appointment times mixed up. Not only is this place so unorganized my doctor had requested specific testing & they said I needed to go elsewhere. Elsewhere isn't covered by my insurance, & I made a call too my insurance provider to get a confirmation that this location is covered by them. Next pregnancy my husband and I will prefer to pay out of pocket than deal with this center. read more

The ultrasound tech and office manager were okay after a heated discussion, but if you care about supporting your spouse while here, be ready for an argument or find another provider. They didn't get the memo that CA is open, and claim that the CDC is driving their decisions fully. Too bad there are no free thinkers looking at what is going on in the world... pay attention to passed pens, tablets, door handles. There is no perfect way to prevent this virus, but the process of being pregnant is priceless. This place does not respect that. read more

Medical billing is a total mystery, but be aware this facility "estimates" patient responsibility and makes you pay BEFORE you receive services, without sending bill to your insurance first. I tried to tell them billing ahead was not fair and not usual, but they just said "that's our policy." They ended up refunding me money months later, but I had to figure out how to deposit that check without getting fees or taxes, making my life more difficult. The services I received we're ok, not that I have alot of medical experience, but I feel like the technician missed an obvious issue. No worries, I later got properly diagnosed. Also, I never met the doctor. I gave the facility 3 stars because despite my poor experience, the place was nice, clean, easy access, decent parking, not too full. read more

This is the first time at this center and I have no complaints. When I got the referral from my doctor, they gave me a copy and faxed a copy to the center. I admit, calling and getting ahold of someone is a little difficult, but they called me to schedule the appointment when they received the fax from my doctor. They were very nice and were able to get my appointment scheduled very quickly. A few days before my appointment they called to confirm and so called the day before to go over their covid protocols. When I arrived the receptionist was very nice and got me checked in and gave me all the paperwork I needed to fill out. read more

Oof there's a lot I could say. But what I will say, moms to be if you really want to know NIPT results as soon as possible, since it will take them days to call you after the results are in - they use Labcorp for their NIPT testing. You can register an account on the Labcorp website. You will receive the results in your account on the labcorp website about 2 days after the results are sent to genetics testing center. In my case I took the test Friday afternoon, the results were sent to the genetics center Monday. I received the results on Wednesday in the Labcorp portal. I did not hear from genetics center until the following Monday(6 workdays from my test, 3 workdays after my results were ready) while I understand this is the quoted time, I wanted to know ASAP and it was nice not having to wait for them to decide to call The results on the Labcorp website were self explanatory and did not very from what the genetic counselor told us. Only caution is they include information on the gender , it's unavoidable since it's in the middle of the report. read more

When your child's pediatrician or your OB informs you that you need genetic testing for your child or fetus, your heart jumps into your throat. You want answers yesterday. My very first question when they answered the phone was "how soon can my child be seen?" I was relieved to find we could get her in about 2 weeks. A few days later they called me with the news that someone had canceled and I could come in the next day. We huffed down to CHOC and met with a genetic counselor and they took some measurements. A few days later we returned for a blood draw with a pediatric phlebotomist who was very kind and excellent at her job. On the way out they said they would call in 7-10 days with the results. On day 7 they called with the great news that our baby's test was negative. Wish I could give ten stars, seriously folks. These guys are on top of their game. read more

Horrible customer service. This is a place that should provide the best care upfront for oncoming new patients (considering the testing that goes on) and they are the worst. The phones ARE NEVER ANSWERED, I had to show up in person to schedule an appointment WEEKS after my doctor asked me to and the girl upfront had an attitude because I showed up with no appointment yet NO ONE was in the waiting room and the phone was not being picked up. This review is way overdue and for a specific genetics counselor that works at this location. I went in around 12 weeks for an NT measurement and much to my surprise I was told my baby had a 3.4 measurement which could be linked to a chromosomal abnormality. I left my appointment distraught, confused, and with a lack of information. I wasn't sure of my options and felt more lost than ever. I came in about 2 weeks later for an NIPT and met with Mikayla (spell check on name). Mikayla was informative, calm, professional and laid out everything for me. I felt that she was empathetic while still explaining the risks and potential things that could be going on. After leaving the first time, I thought I would never go back but Mikayla was the absolute best. I want to thank her and would suggest if you can request that she be your genetic counselor. I am now 26 weeks pregnant and baby is healthy as can be! I am very grateful for her and wish her the best in her career as a genetic counselor!! read more

They dont have hand sanitizer anywhere in the waiting room. When you sign in you have to use the same pen everyone else uses. Most drs offices, if not all, have a "clean pen" and "used pen" jar. Maybe they should do that here and add hand sanitizer...‍ read more

The counselor that I met with was great and was able to answer my questions well. The ultrasound tech, phlebotomist, and front desk personnel were professional. However, I feel that this facility is impossible to contact by phone. I've had multiple rounds of calling to no answer, then submitting a Request to Schedule on the website, only to barely miss the call due to work meetings, call back immediately to no answer, submitting another Request to Schedule. On and on, ad infinitum. Frustration abounds. Am I actually trying to schedule a visit with Fort Knox or the DARPA research center? If you work during the day like the majority of people, how are you supposed to schedule anything with this facility? The Genetics Center may want to consider an online scheduling system like so many other healthcare facilities and labs have in place. Overall I like the people but the scheduling system is inefficient to the max - now that I've exhausted my options via phone and web, I guess I'll try carrier pigeons and smoke signals next. ‍ read more

The front desk here is atrocious. It seems to be the same person anytime i get through on the phone. They hardly answer and when they do, the girl that answers has the biggest attitude. I can hardly understand her as she speaks so quietly and with so much sass it's palpable through the phone. When I asked if they received information from my doctor she had said no. I called my doctor who assured me they sent it several times. When I called again I urged the girl to please diligently check any place it would be and got a response not more than 10 seconds later of "oh yeah, it's right here." The genetics counselors here are fine as far as their friendliness but I was given results and "percentage chances" for a list of things that were so off base that every doctor and professional I've talked to afterwards asks where I went for genetic counseling because they were so wrong. I wouldn't come here if you can help it. They probably wouldn't answer the phone anyway. read more

Genetics can provide science based information to be far more proactive and certain with our health, health risks and future. It can also play a role with family and offspring health knowledge and planning. Cancer took the lives of many of my parental family members and taking the initiative for my testing and also potential impact to my children was something I considered carefully. I chose to go to Genetics Center based on personal recommendations and I am extremely satisfied and fortunate to be supported by a great team of knowledgeable professionals. Katie was my counselor and she absolutely answered every question and provided background and perspective on every talking point and issue. The scheduling was excellent, the turn around outstanding. I am so happy to have this center be recommended to me and I in turn hope my review can help others to also select this center. Take advantage of the opportunity to learn for you and your family. Take advantage of the time with your counselor to understand what health risks and decision options may be available. I am completely satisfied. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. The staff is friendly and our genetic counselor was knowledgeable. But in the end, it's a money-making business that didn't provide all that much value. They tried to sell me a cystic fibrosis screening that would cost $1000 out-of-pocket. Of course they didn't tell me that my wife's screening already included CF (and I know that both of us need to be carriers for our baby to be even at risk). Also, they couldn't tell me if my insurance would cover anything. I checked with my insurance and they said the Genetics Center is covered, but little did I know that they would send the labwork somewhere else that ended up not being covered. Surprise, plump bill in the mailbox. If you need specific genetic screening and have the money to pay for it, I guess I would recommend this place. But even after our $175 consultation (which doesn't include any of the bloodwork, by the way), I believe that the vast majority of people do not need extensive prenatal genetics screening. At the stage that the screening is possible, it's too late to do anything should you find out bad news. And a positive result many time still only means there is an increased % of a genetic disease. We all want to do everything we can for our babies, so I can understand why soon-to-be parents might go test crazy. For us, the statistics didn't seem worth the economics. read more

This Genetics Center completely lost my test results. I called multiple times to ask for copies but it turns out all they do there is scare you into thinking your growing baby is definitely going to have a deadly disease and then draw your blood. It gets sent out to another lab and from there...who knows what happens. They claim that they do not receive any test results however they called my husband with his results so that's a lie. I asked how to get a copy of my results and they said my Dr would have to call the State Department of Health to locate them. I also just found out today that they charged my insurance over $1000. So...I basically had to pay them to send my test results to the government?! Also, similar to what other Yelpers have stated, they convinced my husband to get a CF test which ended up costing a lot of money. They didn't mention that we would both have to be carriers for it to be possible to pass to the baby and I already knew I am not a carrier. On top of that, when they took my husbands blood, he said it hurt and his thumb was numb for a week! If you are considering getting the prenatal testing done by them, be sure your Dr is prepared to follow up as you will most likely be left worrying incessantly for months while you try to track down your results. I highly recommend NOT going to this facility. read more

They didn't push any testing on me once they found out that I had already taken some tests and those came out fine, but once they learned of a few items from my husband's family history they wanted to push him into all kinds of testing. The customer service at the front has been great, and each time I have called I have had all positive interactions. My disappointment was with the blood draw. For the testing, I was required to do a 1st and 2nd trimester draw and I just had my second. Both times have left a sore bruise (the first time I did not capture a photo, but it looked very similar.) I had the same person draw blood both times so I think either she doesn't know how to do it properly or just doesn't care. In prenatal care there have been many times I've given blood and have never bruised like this. If I have to do it again, I think I may request someone different to stick me with a needle. read more

In our efforts to have a child, we were experiencing miscarriages, and it was only through the information and testing provided by Genetics Center that we were able to sort out the possible problems and ultimately have a child of our own. We have had a long and very positive association with Genetics Center. Genetics Center counselors and staff are highly trained and licensed, and their laboratory facilities are up-to-date. Since the field of genetics is on the cutting edge of medicine, they had the latest information and technology; however, insurance coverage has not been keeping up. When it came to money, we felt it was sometimes hard for the Genetics Center staff to tell exactly who will pay and for how much, so we needed to pay at the time of service, although they promptly refunded us when insurance paid. In our experience, Genetics Center offered testing that was indicated and could be helpful in our case. We did not feel they were pushing any services. Genetics Center services were invaluable to our family, and we had a great experience with them. read more

My husband and I are expecting our first baby together and during one of our obgyn visits, our doctor talked to us about the prenatal genetic testing and the process of it. After talking it over we decided to move forward with the testing just for peace of mind. The appointment itself was very easy to make. It consisted of a consultation, ultrasound, and bloodwork. The consultation was very informative and very clear, the ultrasound was great as well, the technician explained to us what they were looking for and was able to measure the baby. I was referred out to a genetics counselor and ultrasound from my primary OB. The office called me and took my insurance information and set up an appointment. I spent 15 minutes max with the genetics counselor answering all the questions she had for me, which were the same on the intake forms they made me fill out. Not once during my interaction with the center was it explained to me that I would be billed separately for this 'consultation'. I am now stuck with two bills. Will never accept a referrral to this location again. read more

You have cobwebs in your windows, your chairs are stained and filthy, your wood border around this room is dusty, and the floor has not seen a vacuum. Have some pride in your office. I work in he medical field, there is no way I would allow my office to look like this. My patients should walk in to a clean environment. Makes me wonder what else is filthy in this place. ***update! I went in a while ago and they cleaned the place up nicely. The thick layer of dust on the bathroom stalls was gone and everything was dusted. Looked great!! Staff was amazing as well. The genetic counselor we met with before her (I forgot her name) was kind and listened. Dr Zadeh was kind and listened, was knowledgeable and really seemed to care and want to help my daughter. She has continued to follow up with us and even advocate for us when dealing with our insurance company. We have seen a lot of doctors this year and she was one of the very best. read more
