As an Elite Squad member, I wield the power of a one star very, very carefully, and rarely. Yet I cannot see a way out of this one here. My friend and I were greeted by the Showroom Manager Diane LaFlair, who was sitting behind the concierge desk. She asked us to sign in and whether we were looking for something in particular. We signed in, and answered we were just browsing. My friend was looking for bathroom floor tiles. Diane did not come across as particularly friendly, but was courteous enough to thank us for signing in; so far, so good. We roamed around a bit, and saw three different styles that were of possible interest. We went back to Diane - who unlike her colleague, who was actively engaged with another prospective client, had not moved from her desk - and let her know we wanted to compare certain tiles side by side on the floor. Diane finally stood up and walked over to the wall where one of the three samples was, and my friend asked if Diane could "put it down", pointing at the tile. Meaning, can you pick it up off the wall and lay it on the floor? I think it is a reasonable request, one doesn't want to have a klutzy moment and mistakenly drop a tile on the floor and break it. Store employees should handle fragile objects... Diane disappeared. After a couple of minutes we walked to her desk, and she was "putting" it down on the computer... As an order? We were confused, and corrected the impression. It was clear that we were not going to get help from Diane, so I picked up the tile and put it on the floor. Then since Diane was not going to assist us, we went around the store, picked the other two samples and laid them on the floor next to the original one so we could finally compare. Diane got up from her seat and was now standing next to us. While my friend and I were discussing the tiles, Diane started helping a new comer. She was all smiles. Meanwhile we made a selection, that was going to be a purchase order, and we - again no help from Diane - put back the other two tiles on their respective places on the wall, leaving the one we wanted on the floor. Diane then says: Do you mind if I move this one from the floor so nobody can trip on it? I say: sure that makes sense, it is the one we are going for. Diane picks it and instead of writing down the information, or setting aside, she walks off with the tile, puts it back on the wall, and goes to actively assist the newcomer I mentioned earlier. My friend and I looked at each other in disbelief. We walked out. I hope the owner of this place reads this review. Diane has no idea of what customer service is, lost a sale for not paying attention and being very cold and unhelpful, and she may have issues serving minorities... read more

If I could put negative stars I would. This tile company are the biggest thieves around. Be very careful dealing with them (if you must). I purchased tile for my entire house from this place. There was one type of stainless steel used for my backsplash that was garbage and I took it to them to return the tile and they told they couldn't return the tile it's was mine and the installers problem. It's was 100% the tile. Went to dal tile down the street got a better product and had no issues with the tile or the installer using a good stainless steel tile. My tile guy has to use them once in a while and still has many issues with the amount of money they charge for samples, restocking fees and various other issues. Stay far away!!!! read more

This is the worst place to buy tile from. I went in and ordered the tile i needed when it came in it was the wrong tile and they didn't even bother to fix my order and place a new one. I still got charged for the wrong order and they did not refund me my money. read more

Went in the showroom one day and talked to a design consultant about tile. I bought some a week later picked it up then went in the showroom to inquire about purchasing additional items. The same consultant had a very poor attitude when I ask her a question. She acted as if she was doing me a big favor for answering my question. She told me to go to the back and tell the people what I wanted. I got in my vehicle and just drove away. After looking at all the review this one star must be there goal.. read more

Super helpful and nice to work with. I read an earlier review with a bad experience potentially attributable to one employee having an issue serving minorities. I am not a minority, had a similar experience twice (friendly but not necessarily rushing to help) and after a bit of discussion the second time realized that the hesitancy to jump in was driven by the fact that I did not have samples of the things the tile would coordinate with while I was shopping. She suggested I bring them, I did, and she could not have been more helpful and engaged. Looking at it from her perspective and all the folks she must deal with weekly, I understand her process. Maybe not a conventional approach but I understand it and was super pleased with the help once she knew I was serious and once I had the items that helped her help me. We ordered tile from them for our kitchen remodel. The tile arrived and looked to have a "sheen" on the tiles. We were told that it should wash off and have no problem. My installer installed the tile and tried everything he had to get it off to no avail. We contacted Genesee Tile and they sent out a rep and told us they would take it back to the manufacturer to help. That was the last we heard about it. I have called them and left messages and emails and received no response. I like to leave good reviews but this has been very bad customer service from them and they took two of my sheets and never returned them. That would be called stealing to anyone else?? read more

I was building a new home and had 7 rooms to tile. I felt very overwhelmed. The ladies up front were SO helpful. They were able to put ideas together and help me get the perfect fit for my style. I made multiple trips in and got great service every time. It was installed and I loved it. A lot of things went wrong on this job but i did not have to worry about tile at all. read more

My husband and I had a great experience at Genesee tile. We worked with two different sales consultants the couple times we came in. I'm sure we weren't the best people to work with in we couldn't make up our minds going back and forth on styles and designs. They were really helpful and even did some leg work emailing me with different tile choices they could order. And ordered us samples of a few things we wanted to check out. All in all I wish other places had such outstanding customer service as the girls at Genesee do. read more

NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. If I could give negative stars I would. I am a small home remodeling company that dealt solely with these people for years. My customer drove 45 minutes one way and picked out a tile for a Christmas deadline bathroom. I placed the order and was told it would be 2 weeks for one of the tile to arrive. 3 weeks later when I called to have the order put together I was informed the the one tile was back ordered till the new year. At that point my customer had to rush 45 minutes one way on a Friday at 4 PM to select a new in stock tile. They were not given the price for the new role they selected and I was not emailed the selection sheet as promised. On Saturday morning when I called to ask for the selection sheet to be emailed to me I was emailed the incorrect paperwork and I knew it was not right. I called back and said they send me the wrong paperwork and said instead of emailing me again just tell me the price for the tile so my customer can pay me so I can pick up tile on Monday. When I arrived the price I was given as I was about to pay was over $800.00 more then the price I was given and as a result of their errors I was forced to pay out my pocket to get the tile needed to start tiling to meet my Christmas deadline. When I asked to be compensated for the error of their employee costing me money they were not willing to compensate me and had the full to tell me they would back me if I went to my customer and asked for more money then I told them they owed me. ( obviously they do not understand how damaging and wrong that can be for a small company). The company refused to reimburse me and as a result I lost about $900.00. At the same time as purchasing this tile I purchased tile for my house. After being told they would not reimburse me I was forced to return my personal tile as I could not affinities with Xmas and mortgage due. When I returned my tile they charged me a restock fee and now I am out over $1,000.00. I will never and strongly suggest you never do business with these people. The customer service of this company is horrible and they were down right dismissive and rude about the whole situation. NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. read more
