Never been there, everyone was great, the service guy in the wood section explained how the outdoor yard worked. When we got there we asked yard workers where items were and instead of just pointing they walked over and helped load. I wish they stocked the red siding not just white for my barn, but at least they have the best inventory for pole barn construction in the area HD and L wanted to order material and at a higher price. We have been shopping at Menards since they first opened the Wixom location. Always find the employees to be very helpful and they have a large selection of merchandise. Never had an issue with a return to the store. The only thing I wasn't aware of is a service charge for having items pulled from the shelves for pick up. The rebates can really add up too! read more

I went to Menards to get two 20 pound propane tanks filled. When I looked at the receipt I noticed they charged a $5 servive fee per tank in addition to the $20 to fill one tank. The cashier did not mention the extra fees. I have never been charged a service fee to fill a tank before. A little sneaky. Lesson learned. read more

I bought a generator as a Christmas gift and waited till after Christmas to assemble it (its mostly assembled). Put the oil and gas in and I have another generator but this one was to run the whole house. Well something is wrong with it and it is faulty. I was told by the rude store manager I should of read my receipt and only had 7 days to return or exchange. I have never heard of such a horrible return policy and one you wouldn't warn your customers of. The check out person told me about the rebate which I will get rid of as ill never step foot in a menards again. Worst customer service EVER. I was then told I could take it and pay the bill to have it looked at and fixed and if they couldn't I would have to bring the bill in and exchange. Laughable. Brand new 1000 machine is junk now. I just wanted to give a shout out to Dean in the flooring department. I special ordered some luxury vinyl flooring before Christmas. Dean helped me with some tips and tools to make the job easier. I went back a few days after Christmas to pick up the order and Dean was there again. He remembered me from a week ago and gave me some more tips for my steps. I went back there today to pick up some transition pieces and Dean was there and he remembered me again. He helped with the transition pieces and also helped me with some other home improvement projects I'm working on. Thank you Dean. Menards has certain key product/material strengths over Home Depot and Lowes that lead me to this store based on the DIY project I am working on. In particular, they have excellent masonry/stone products with great selection at low prices, large interior/exterior lighting selection, great selection of interior/exterior doors, large selection of vanities/sinks and low prices for interior trim wood ( excellent cedar board prices). Aside from these areas, I would say that they lag behind Home Depot on associate knowledge and higher end contractor grade tools which is a big deal to me and the limiting factor in them not getting more than 3 stars. However, if one of your DIY projects are taking you down a path of one of their product strengths than you should definitely visit this store as you will not be disappointed. read more

It was cool at first to have a new and HUGE Menard's in town. It's still very clean and has lots of the usual and some of the punique stuff from building supplies to milk and pop-tarts. Lines are still very slow, but the staff is generally nice. Product quality seems lower than other box stores. And, they do NOT match prices or even honor their own shelf pricing (heard more than once that a sale doesn't start until tomorrow even though the shelf price is up or sorry that sale is over). Their "11%" Rebate Offers are bogus. They give you a very short period of time to submit which is written in microscopic type and even when you mail it in on time they pretend they didn't receive it. Ordered a garage door that took 6 weeks to come in. They forgot to give us the box with the parts in it when we picked it up, even thought I specifically asked if they had given us everything. We went back to the store 3 times trying to find the parts. When they did finally find them, they were in a soggy wet box that had been run over in the back lot. Warning! Awful customer service. They all take a "not my problem" approach to any issues that come up, including the store manger, "Chip". Their website duplicated my order for a special order door without my knowledge, and after it arrived they would NOT give me all my money back. It's like talking to a brick wall with these people. First of all, I ordered a large order online and had to go pick it up. Driving into the yard to pick up my items.... we were approached by an average size black woman that was RUDE as all get out! Her mask not even covering her nose yet has the nerve to be rude to me!!! I wouldn't be writing this if I hadn't just picked up a previous order2 weeks prior and the black larger woman was also evil and acted like I was interrupting her!!!! I'm absolutely so sick of spending thousands of dollars and being treated like garbage at this company!!!' Ordered some tile on line that wasn't available in store. It arrived and I was notified via email in a timely fashion. Everything was smooth and as expected. I responded to the store and I entered the pick up area at the rear of the store and was the only customer there. I called the number and the gentleman said he would be right out with my package at 7:54 pm. Two cars pulled up to the order pick up area behind me and were serviced and left. Twenty three minutes have gone by, so I went inside as I was seeing customers walk up to the desk at door 15 which is the on-line order pick up desk. (This was not a busy time at the store!) I was polite and the lady working the desk (didn't get her name) she began to yell at me because she was waiting on other customers, then she said she couldn't find my order, and I was also told the guy who took my call went home. Two minutes later it was loaded into my truck which is about the same amount of time the other customers had waited who arrived after me. I couldn't believe the way she treated me for being a customer who was forgotten about. She was way out of line and there is no excuse. I exited the pick up area at 8:18 pm shaking my head about the treatment. She is a horrible employee...but don't fire her. I know where to avoid now. read more

The most infuriating experience I've ever had at a big box store. I waited 40 minutes for them to find my special order, then all 3 items were clearly damaged beyond use. Then they wouldn't refund the $10 handling fee they charged me for the special order. I was polite and courteous the entire time and the only person who wasn't rude was the store manager who finally agreed to refund the full amount. Never again. An hour out of my day for nothing. This took place at approximately 7:20 am on 5/21/2018 (Monday) in the Grocery/Beauty section. I had a home project that I really needed to get done asap, so I woke up at 6:00 am to start it and then I needed to go to either Home Depot, Lowes or Menards. I was happy to see all three were open at 7:00am, Menards was slightly closer, so I went there. I walked in, the staff I passed by were very friendly, one of them directed me to the area where I could find what I was in need of purchasing (which was drawer/cabinet shelf liners, located in the Kitchen section). After I found my liners, I started to head to the cashier lines. I was right by the Beauty/Food area and remembered I needed to get some cereal and milk. I saw about 2, maybe 3 female employees chit-chatting nearby, unfortunately one was standing right in front the refrigerated cooler where the milk was located. I apologized for having to make her move, but instead of any courtesy or good customer service, she said, "Well, I am trying to do inventory here..." in a very snide tone. Not wanting to make an ugly scene, I just said, "Excuse me" and got the milk I needed. I have worked in the customer service industry for decades and I am very familiar with nasty, rude customers. I, however, was not one of them and do not see how nor why I deserved that snide comment. Oh! I'm sorry, I'm just trying to be a paying customer here. If you didn't have people like me here, BUYING your products, you wouldn't have anything to take inventory of nor would you be receiving a paycheck for your task of taking inventory! So, I'm sincerely sorry for interrupting your chit-chat session and causing you to step about a foot to the left so I could reach the milk. What an inconvenience. Should I have called you out right there, in front of your co-workers, or maybe go straight to the manager about your unprofessional attitude? Getting some custom paint colors and Dan was super helpful, knowledgeable and directed me in the right direction.

Back at the end of August we placed an order for a $22k pole barn kit which I very specifically told the people I was working with that this was being done solely by my husband and I and made sure we'd have no issues with time constraints when it came to needed returns (crates items came in) or running into issues with stuff missing. Everything was officially either delivered or picked up from the store by the second week of October. Now at the end of November we're finally finishing up and made it a point to get the wood crates back to the store to get the refund for them. When my husband went to return them he was met with rude staff and a general manager named Evan. Evan was unwilling to give us our $180ish refund for the refundable crates because we were 4 DAYS past a return date on November 25th, 2023 that was not mentioned once to us during the process of pick up. Dave at the building counter told my husband and I several times we'd be good to return when able to. Additionally we have ran into several items missing or being wrong within this kit that made us return to the store and get corrected and waste more time. We spent over $22,000 on this whole kit. The fact that Evan was unwilling to issue a measly $180 refund because we were 4 days late which was absolutely never explained to us is absolutely disgusting and sickening. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for your diy barn kits. I can almost guarantee things will be wrong and they won't work with you. He very politely informed me when I asked where the saw was located that " Menard's does not cut lumber. You have to take it " as is ". I was scrolling down to read previous reviews.. and found them to be a bit ridiculous. It's as if they opened an account to complain. And that's not fair. Menards isn't just a one stop shop. You have to frequent a location like this to get a grasp of what they are all about. FYI Sales start over on Sundays. If you miss the sale, you as the consumer should hold yourself accountable. I made the same mistake but it was my own fault for not reading the ad carefully. Also- unless a company prides themselves to price match, I'm not sure if anyone should complain since it's really not what Menards is all about. The whole price matchy matchy concept is why so many retail stores are going out of business. If you want to price match, go to Amazon. It'll better suit you. And the review about getting milk? I didn't even know you could do that. It's the fun fact of Menards that is kind of weird but awesome at the same time? Anyway. I've gone to this Menards location COUNTLESS TIMES and the customer service here is great and CONSISTENT. A friendly shout out to Tim who works by the ceiling fan department. Tim took the time to walk me through the open showroom and not only help me make a purchase, but helped me carry it to my car. I was still recovering from a c-section and I can't tell you how grateful I was that I didn't even have to ask. Quite honestly, I have a hard time asking for help sometimes. Tim found me lost in an aisle, educated me, engaged with me and helped me make an project purchase to help complete my home. Thank you Tim. Then there was that other time, when I was trying to get a shelving unit. They only had one left in the color I needed for that same day. There was a small dent in the middle of the board and the customer service person was able to give me final sale on the product- no questions asked. Thank you for that. No hassle. No questions. AND THEN there was last week when I purchased black mulch by the bag (20 bags in total). Shortly after I got the form completed and paid for, my husband and I pulled into the back of the warehouse to start loading the truck one bag at a time. Despite driving to where we needed to park, there was still a good distance from the mulch to our car. Seconds pass by after we parked and an employee asked how many bags we needed and immediately got another staff member to move the whole display (with their equipment) closer to our vehicle. Then they all stayed to help load our car. WHAT!? This should have taken 15 minutes. We had it done in 3. My husband and I went to Menards without a clue on what to buy... but after going in, we left with what we needed and felt stress lift from our shoulders because the staff goes above and beyond what was expected of them. Customers like me are stressed going into stores like Menards. It's really comforting that they offer this kind of geniune support to help us tackle our inspirational HGTV moments. So don't listen to your haters Menards. You're doing a marvelous job. People just don't take the time to write about your good traits because they are busy fixing up their homes from all the things you help us find to make our lives better. Purchased a gas edger which was a display model. When we got it home it refused to start. When I took it back found out that in order to receive a refund I have to take to Plymouth Michigan to an independent dealer. Menards is close to where I live but I'll no longer shop there. read more

Terrible customer service. I am renovating a house- thus I have purchased a lot recently at this store. I am ready to submit for this supposed rebate but a few of my receipts are missing. I thought nothing of it because there are kiosks where receipts can be reprinted. The problem is the re-printed receipts are not valid for the rebate. When I asked the customer service desk to print me valid receipts I was told that they could not. When pressed for a manager a man named Evan was brought to the front, apparently he is the general manager for the store. You could have fooled me, all he did was repeatedly tell me he can't help me and that there is nothing he can do- only original receipts can be used for the rebate. First, a manger should never tell a customer that there is nothing they can do. Second, clearly Menards is putting artificial roadblocks in the way of customers accessing this advertised 11% rebate. It's not worth it, go somewhere else. read more

I have always heard good things about Menards, the quality of the wood, stand behind there products, etc. Recently I have been doing a lot of shopping there and end up ordering a bunch of stuff not available in the store, but standard sizes as is (no custom changes). Half the shipment showed up earlier then posted and the other half was delayed, then delayed again, then again, and now again. And the only way I found out about each delay was by me following up to check the status of the shipment, no one reach out to me even though I had requested updates on the several times. The tracking system was not updated until after the 3rd delay. It is still not here, another week without finishing the bathroom. I feel I am reasonable, I get it that things happen, all I have asked since the first delay is that they keep me up to date. I have not got any response unless I keep bothering them. I will probably never shop at Menards again, I am working on getting the rest of my order fill by someone else. read more

During these times I take an extra moment before a negative post like this. But today the service manager in the appliance/cabinet section Shannon lead me to a terrible shopping experience. I wandered around the signed/section area for dressers and bedroom items. After 10 minutes of wandering aimlessly I wandered out of the section to find an employee who would help. I met a nice gentlemen who then brought me to "Shannon" who was not on on the floor helping the customers that were in her section but back in an area where the employee and I both felt we were bothering her. I then asked about the bedroom dressers section and that I wasn't finding anything. She failed to make eye contact and continued picking her nails and told the other employee , not me, who clearly knows nothing about this department to help me get to the menards website to special order a dresser. No fault to the young man, just terrible customer service and leadership by Shannon. I will go online and look, but it's not going to be at Menards! read more

So my 1 star review is for their building materials department. Not the entire store. I went and ordered 2 6"x6"x8' composite posts. I was told they would be delivered to the store in roughly 2 weeks and someone would call when they were in. Ok. No problem. It's been a month and I called and guess what.... they don't know anything. The guy on the phone said if I didn't pay for them or have any kind of receipt then they weren't ordered. I was ready to pay when I ordered them but was told to pay when they came in. Then this gentleman says," I don't know where the confusion came from." Well, I do, the guy working there obviously didn't know what he was doing. He tried, on the phone, to make it like it was my fault. What??! I ordered them, gave all my info and waited like they said. Then he said, "good luck to you." That is absolutely horrible customer service. I will never order anything from there again. I am happy that I found this out now because I was going to order a $4000 exterior french door from there. I will 100% order everything somewhere else. It really sucks because I live this place but I can't trust anything will be right and in the building trades you can't go with maybe it will, maybe it won't. Extremely disappointed.
