Inside was not as busy as say one that we frequent to in our state so it was nice to maneuver without too much hassle. Again maybe it wasn't a peak time to go. My mom hit a jackpot with their sales and got pajama sets for only $3. Easy Christmas gifts! But I think this can be dependent on the location and items that need to be moved. Either way, good selection of items in the baked good area and they had the lemon raspberry muffins which can be tricky depending on how well they sell at a Costco. It was about 30 minutes after closing, still light outside, with several cars still in the lot. I had simply parked to rest for a bit and eat some food before continuing my drive, nothing suspicious or disruptive. Then a man in plain clothes, driving a silver minivan with no security lights or identification, pulled up on me. No uniform, no badge, nothing to suggest he was official. He said, "I need you to get out of here," with zero courtesy. There were no "please," and no "thank you" when I agreed I would leave. Just a blunt command from someone who looked like any other civilian. I wasn't alarmed by it personally, but someone else easily could've been. That's not how you treat another human being, and it's unacceptable for Costco to hire staff to have that type of attitude as the face of their business. As a queer POC unfamiliar with this city, the entire encounter felt discriminatory and unwelcoming. I'm not trying to make this political, but that kind of behavior speaks volumes. If this is how Costco chooses to represent itself after hours, I'll gladly take my business elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone who values safety, respect, or basic decency.

However, passing by this store, I saw a shirt my mom would love so I decided to come on in. I wasn't planning on doing much shopping in Bozeman but this little store convinced me otherwise. And boy did I find stuff to get, and more. It was hard narrowing down what I wanted to get because there was so much. And it was varied as well. I got that shirt for my mom but I also walked away with a cute purse, a notebook, some jewelry, stickers and a few other items. I could have bought so much more but I was limited by the space in my carry-on bag and didn't want to have to ship stuff home. **November 2025: Sunday Afternoon Visit**…read more My mom and I were looking for some local Montana gifts and food and saw the huge Co-op building on a drive down Main Street. The parking lot is kind of small, but we were able to find a spot to squeeze into on our visit. When you enter the building you'll see an impressive self-serve section and I noticed quite a few people loading up their plates or to go boxes. There's an island of ingredients to make your own salad and a couple of home made soups, and another area for hot items. My mom and I decided to share a squash soup, a small salad, and an assortment of hot items including South Carolina pulled pork, mac n cheese, biscuits and gravy, and mashed potatoes. I also decided to try a local kombucha which was really refreshing. We grabbed our utensils close to the exit and headed upstairs to enjoy our food. After we devoured everything we perused the main floor and bought a lot of Montana based goodies including teas, Bequet caramels, soaps, and skincare products. Suffice to say I spent quite a bit of money here, but I'm happy to support local and be able to share the Montana spirit with my family and friends! I'd say Community Food Co-op is kind of like a cross between Trader Joes and Whole Foods, but with a great emphasis on sustainability and local goods.
