I came here a few months back to have my diamond bracelet adjusted. I cant remember the mans name. but I believe he's the owner of the store. He measured my wrist and confirmed that only one link need to be removed. After picking up my bracelet a few days later, it is STILL too loose. When I pointed that out, he wanted me to pay another $35 to have one more link removed. He was the one that said one link is good enough. He made it sound like it was my fault. Heck if I knew, I would have become a jeweler myself. So basically, even if they screw up, they expect you to pay to have it redone. I'd stay away from this place and head a few blocks down to the the new jewelry shop that just opened up across from CVS. I love this Jewelry store! I decided to check out Gemelli's after hearing so many great things about them. I went in just to browse and get the size of my ring finger. I walked and wow what a selection of beautiful pieces they had! I love the set up from the store front windows to the cases fir display. I wanted everything lol! I was greeted by this lady named Amanda and she was so nice. She showed me and my then boyfriend a bunch of styles of rings they had and took her time explaining everything to me. She actually listened to me and heard me! That's key! I love that she was not just trying to push her ideas on me. It was what I loved as the customer and that meant a lot. I fell in love with a ring and just wanted it but her and my fiancé tricked me and I thought I would never get it. This place is unprofessional and rude. I went in to get a bracelet repaired. The girl who took my bracelet gave me a "know-it-all" attitude but apparently she didn't know very much. She gave me a price which she wrote on the back of the receipt and told me I could pick up the bracelet the following week. Well, a week goes by and I get a call stating that my bracelet will cost more than double what they originally quoted me to fix it. I was given a million excuses and reasons. Not my problem; I'm just the customer. They wouldn't even budge on the price even though they clearly were the ones who messed up. If I had gotten the ridiculous price that day, or even if I had gotten a phone call the following day informing me of the change in price, it would've been more reasonable. Buyers and Sellers beware. I had a feeling that they where a bit sketchy here so I tested my theory. I went to the diamond district in the city I had around 7 pieces of Jewelry from stones to scrap weighed and checked for value. I received quotes from 13 to 1600 on just the gold scrap. I then went to Gemelli within 2 hours of my initial quotes. They offered me 600 and said that was top dollar on the weight value of the scrap gold and the gems weren't really worth anything. Really let down as the reviews for these guys where really good but I suppose unless you're a jeweler you really don't know what your getting into. Buyer Seller beware... read more

This is one place that in my mind really deserves a big fat Zero. I like to support local businesses, but this one......No. I must admit that my encounter with this outfit was about eight years ago, but I still reserve a special place in my heart for the guy who destroyed my wedding ring. I waited patiently for Gemelli Jewelers to be listed on Yelp. I'm glad they're now here, complete with a few suspect looking reviews for good effect. My Story: One fateful day(about 8 years ago) I decided to bring my wedding ring into this Jeweler to be tightened. It was white gold, with really nice beveled edges. It was only a few weeks old. I was informed by the guy behind the counter that this could be done quite easily. I returned a few days later to be presented with a similar looking ring (yes it was the same ring, it had just lost some weight). The nice shiny beveled edges were no more. It looked like it was ground down to a shadow of its former self. There was a "scar" where the ends were re-joined. It looked like it was welded together by a plumbers apprentice. It was a mess. When I asked what had happened, the Jeweler ( perhaps I could think of a more apt name for him ) got all angry and tried to intimidate me into believing that this was the condition that he received it. Just to prove his point he showed me how an "expert" like him plies his trade. He brought the ring back to his work area. I thought I heard an angle grinder for a few seconds, but I saw no construction work outside. Then Mr. "Jeweler"returned and showed me what real bad workmanship should look like(Exhibit A). My ring was now a few more grams lighter with an additional extra big gouge(for special effect I would presume). MacGyver went back to his little work area again. And just by coincidence, there was that angle grinder sound again. This time a little softer. Again MacGyver returns with my ring(Exhibit B). "You see the difference"???. I believe that Exhibit B was meant to be an example of his fine workmanship. Yes,it was still my ring. A little lighter again than before, with that gouge from Exhibit A removed. But it still looked like crap, just smaller crap than a few minutes previously. How wonderful. I took my ring back, paid him and left before he could get a chance to grind it down to dust. I believe MacGyver still works there. I could be wrong. Maybe he even owns the place. Maybe he has got a little better with the angle grinder. Maybe he put down that Oxy-Acetylene welder and got himself some jewelers tools. Maybe he now accepts responsibility for his destruction and tries to make amends. But I really doubt it. That's why I will always remind these people of how they destroyed my wedding ring. But I am still happily married, so it's not all bad news:) read more

A long time business in Maspeth. I unfortunately haven't had the best experiences there though. I had left a ring their to be cleaned, and came back almost a week later to find they didn't do it. The kid there then cleaned the ring in 5 minutes and I ended up cleaning it in the sink at home for a better result. I had a friend of mine get his watch battery replaced there and they damaged his watch in the process. Their prices are also retail and very high so I usually do not go there.
