I have really grown accustomed to stoping here on my way out from Airzona but I went in on Easter and there was an older lady who rang me and My mom up and she was beyond RUDE!!! The whole time she was ring us us she was huffing and puffing. To top it off my daughter asked about something in the case and she rolled her eyes and told my daughter they were expensive, insinuating we couldn't pay for it. Then my sister added a few extras to her purchase and she said in a rude tone "Are you DONE this time because I'm trying to leave." This place is INSANE! Be prepared to lose at least an hour hunting for gorgeous rocks, gems, minerals, beads, and so much more. It's a tightly packed warehouse style space with stuff literally everywhere - it's definitely overwhelming at first, so I'd suggest doing a quick walkthrough and then strolling each aisle until the perfect pieces call you! Most items were priced by the ounce and there are scales every couple aisles so that you can get an idea of cost. Stopped here on our way to and from Sedona, so glad we did, took care of all our vacation shopping and some Christmas gifts. They have an amazing selection and wholesale prices. Every employee we met helped us in our four-five hours total in the store was very kind and helpful. Not everything is priced clearly so we had to ask questions which was never an issue to find someone and they never seemed bothered. We visited a couple other stores in Quartzsite on our way in but this is then only one we had to come back to on our at home. We will definitely will make special trips to go back, it's worth the 3 hr drive (one way) imo. read more

What fun! Even if you are not a rock collector, this place is something to experience. Rocks of every size, shape and color, and so many huge geode crystals. Every one should have one in their office or home, well maybe not everyone. Any way, we toured and found the staff very willing to help us, even though the stone we were searching for was not found. They pointed to a time and place when we could get our piece of lapiz and when lapidary people would be in town to shape it as we desired. SO very nice. Cool shop, shady owner.. I'll start with the good stuff. If you're just a casual fan of rocks and minerals on the cheap then come here. If you're looking for collectable quality specimens, go to the many quartzsite rocks shows in January. - The Good - Great gift opportunities. - Great kid party idea is to buy a bunch of the "break your own geodes" located in the front of the store. As long as your kids are nimble enough to use a hammer it's a fun activity to open up the rock and see crystals. - Great place to pick up a unique gift for your kid ( or grandkid ) - Avoid the fossils like trilobites as many I saw were fake ( reproductions). - Ammonites are fine to buy but check for excessive repair work before purchase. Many that I saw had a lot of repair work. - Nice bathrooms outside. - The Bad I caught the owner of this place short changing me. Because of the nature of this place there is a lot of commotion going on during the buying process. Distractions are everywhere which makes it very easy to be scammed. After all of my rocks and fossils were weighed and priced, I handed the owner cash. The owner began counting out my change back slowly, all while I'm having kids pull the back of my shirt trying to get my attention. I noticed that he kept stacking ones, but the total he was calling out was as if there was a 10 at the bottom of the stack. I didn't think much of this and put the change in my empty pocket. Then I needed my change to give to someone else and noticed I was short a $10 bill. I knew right away that I was shorted. Fortunately, I was still standing at the front of the line when I noticed this discrepancy and called out the owner. He sheepishly gave my $10 back right away. Now, you're probably thinking that this was just a harmless accident, but the owner of this gem shop knows the price of every item in the massive store and even knows the bulk pricing for every item in this store. Are you saying that he doesn't know how to count back change correctly? In the end I did get my correct change back, but also felt really bad that I was this close to driving away never knowing what happed to my $10. Fascinating place- I spent about $100 on fossils, a stalagmite ($1.75 per pound!), calcite, a dozen other assorted rocks, including a beautiful piece of rose quartz. Also purchased dream catchers, skull beads, jade bracelets, a large bunch of dried sage, and a solid silver chain for only $17. Check out is a little dicey though. Most things are not labeled with names nor prices. The second lady who helped me quoted me a different price (more!) than the first lady.
