Needed shower faucet replaced. He checked out job. We agreed on price. He went to go get faucet and supplies. Didn't realize his supplies meant basic plumbing tools needed to do the job. Pipe wrenches, he cut galvanized lines without having pipe threader. Wanted additional $50 to buy one, use then return. While he went to store for additional supplies he needed. I went to harbor freight and bought pipe threader for $49. He got it all together. But water flow was not good. Told him residue in valves. He wanted to replace pipes from basement to 2nd fl bathroom to fix. Told him no. He said nothing else he can do. Next day I removed valve stems from hot añd cold. Cleaned. Reassembled, cold water flow was back to normal. Hot water still restricted. Cut line in basement. Drained line. Reconnected. Improved flow. But need to do again. Maybe try blowing line with air. He is nice guy. But needs lot more experience dealing with real life problems that arise from working on old plumbing. I told him I would repair hole in wall he made to access shower head. And replace tiles in shower that had to be removed because new shower faucet was 8 in center not 12 like old one. read more
