I'm disappointed by the lack of courtesy and customer service I encountered on Sep 2, 2025. I went in to inquire if the shop did watch repair. When I entered the store, an employee was assisting another customer who was purchasing a computer. There were no other people. The employee glanced at me but said nothing. That registered with me as I would have appreciated a simple acknowledgement as a human being. So I waited patiently for well over five minutes. It turned out to be a rather time-consuming transaction. The employee then left the counter and went to a back room, where I heard other employees talking. Their conversation sounded casual & personal (nothing wrong with that), but if they weren't otherwise busy, why couldn't the employee tell one of them to get up and assist me? Eventually, after quite a few minutes, the employee returned & resumed his business with his customer. He continued to ignore me. No eye contact. Nothing. I was getting irritated. After more time passed in being totally ignored, I blurted out, "Say. Quick question. Do you do watch repairs?" "No," was the curt reply. Me, "Do you change out batteries?" Again, "no." Then the employee went back to deal with the other employee. I left the store, feeling disgruntled & upset, but glad I didn't have to wait even longer. Here's the thing. Yes, the employee was giving his undivided attention to his first customer, but a simple acknowledgement of my presence and a "I'll be with you as soon as I can," would have gone a long way. I've worked retail for years. I know the perils of dealing with the public & rude behavior. I also know the importance of good customer relations and courteous behavior. This employee was simply rude. I'll never go back to your store. read more

Paul responded to Yelp request for Apple Series 5 Watch battery replacement with a quote. After a couple of email exchanges, the price and parts availability was confirmed. Paul said drop it off anytime and the battery replacement would take a couple of hours. I stopped by this morning and staff said they couldn't repair. When I told them about the email correspondence, they wasted my time going from the front counter to the back to discuss. After wasting my time, they said the best they could do was replace my battery with a used battery. Complete shit show. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

The external Hard Drive issue - it's a wait and see back at the homestead :~), though they did test it and waited a while to see if was clicking and did say over the phone it usually means it's failing. GCD fixed an antenna in my iPhone that was causing my GPS not to work and my connectivity to be weak. Apple said it wasn't fixable. 20 minutes and $50 later, it is working perfectly. They were honest and upfront and promised me I would be charged nothing if the fix wasn't successful. I wish more businesses operated this way. I've been back numerous times since I wrote my review. My original score stays the same. The employees are knowledgeable and helpful. I have purchased about 5 used phones here and probably had about 4 phones fixed. I have no complaints! read more

I don't use all-caps often unless it's to rave about churros, but this time it's called for. THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR NON WARRANTY APPLE REPAIRS! RUN!! Go there now!!! I have a 2010 iMac dinosaur that's a workhorse, and I'm trying to keep it working just long enough to buy a new one soon. So when the screen went out (thank god for second monitors) and then the hard drive went out again (third time) I thought I could swing the hard drive replaced and get by. It was still under warranty so I need to get it out and sent in to get my replacement. I was greeted and in under five minutes one of the guys popped the front glass (that's held on with strong magnets) off with nothing but his finger nails, and removed the drive. I was stunned, that's some master level Dr Strange sorcery! I knew right then I was in the right place and in good hands. Of course the work tables filled with Apple products also said this was a good place. They know thier way around a iMac! I had taken it two years before to put in the same drive I was having pulled out to another place down the street, who charged 100 just to open my iMac, not counting any work once inside. They evidentially bungled it as the Gem City guy showed me a tiny ribbon cable that had been mangled and was probably the reason behind my problems. They didn't even charge me to fix this cable. All totalled them replacing my screen, the tiny cable that helped control temperature and the screen, and replacing my hard drive came before tax LESS than the other place charged me to merely open it up. These guys have my business for years to come, I only wish I'd found them two years ago. If I had I might not have even needed these repairs to begin with. If I'd had the replacement hard drive on hand when I dropped it off I probably could have had it back next day! And this is me, the person who despises The Greene, saying this. I will travel in that infernal mousetrap for only two stores now, The Apple Store & Gem City Digital. No higher praise can be had. read more

I have an iPhone 11 Pro now. My screen was cracked and I didn't have time to replace it. On a trip out to visit my daughter, I figured I'd finally get it done. They were pretty fast and friendly. I picked it up and should have seen the red flag of "test it thoroughly." The touch screen was a little wonky but was much better once I took the protective sheet off. It was after I left Dayton that things went to hell. I'd have hours where it was just fine and then the touch screen basically wouldn't function. I figured I had to get the screen replaced again which I wasn't happy about. I took it to a place where I live. The repair person had a bit of a hard time with it, taking about twice as long as she'd thought. When it was done, she showed me that Gem City had used glue on the home button rather than doing it properly. The end result was that TouchID was gone forever and I now have an iPhone 11 Pro. I'm just happy I had the upgrade available. I'm sure they'd make it right if I took it back but I'm not driving 14hrs to Dayton to do it. read more

They fixed my laptop (was having charger issues) however they did not sray in touch when a part came in (had to call to confirm) and then they mentioned there was a warranty for three months. At three months and 1 week the charger issue came back and they said they would not honor the warranty because it was outside the window. Everyone was very kind and helpful and professional but the lack of followup was frustrating. read more

They just lost me and my husband as customers and probally my whole family. They charged $90 to change a battery on my husband's Samsung phone. A week later, i brought it back to this place because my husband accidentally dropped it in the bath tub water. The guy said to wait for few minutes to see how much it got damaged and if it can't be fixed, they won't charge me. I was making sure with him I just want to know how much it cost and if it even worths to fix. After he looked at it, he said it could be fixed and they're gonna just open and dry it, it'll cost $30 then it'll be ok. About 30mins later, they called me and said the screen and the data are damaged and it costs $175 to fix it. I told them that'll be more value than the amount we bought the phone, and i said i'll just comeback and get it without fixing. When i cameback, the same guy said i have to wait for few minutes for them to put the phone back together. It took them almost 30mins to do so. Finally he brought out the phone and he wanted to charge me $30, but i said to him that he didn't fix anything. He said it's the fee just to look at it. I didn't want to argue and I paid him. I paid $30 for nothing and the phone is still broken. We'll never comeback. read more

I've been there on a few different occasions and they've been able to fix every issue. I went to the Apple Store to see why my phone wouldn't charge and they blamed me for water damage... told me I had to just buy a new phone (300 dollars). Went to sprint and even with having insurance, it was 200 dollars. I got a tip to head over to Gem City. I went over to see if they could give me a better deal or better yet fix my phone, and they were able to fix it for under 20! They are extremely sweet and always looking to satisfy their customers. They are never greedy and always stick to their word. That keeps me coming back. I'm sure a lot of people think the same. These guys know what they're doing and they're extremely quick. Gem City Digital is one of those places that you are relieved to find - finally found somewhere to fix things you can't fix yourself. First had them fix our pinball machines, then bought a used MacBook from them. Neighbors have had their computer network fixed by them. They are competent, reasonable and conscientious. We had a minor issue with the used MacBook and they fixed it under their warranty. Very happy with everything they do. Their new location across front where Greene is a lot better as well - bigger facility, and you can actually get a parking spot! read more

Took my phone in to get the screen replaced. I have previously bought the screen for it before i went not knowing it wasn't the right screen..I took it in and they said it would take about a hour and be around 40$. So i walked around for a bit then went back to pick up my phone. When i got there they brought out my phone but the new screen was not on and my phone wasn't usable what so ever. but when i went in there my phone worked perfectly fine just a cracked screen but i walked out with a phone that was completely broken. I initially took my Macbook into the Apple store where they told me it would cost $400 and take several weeks to repair.
