Purchased a pull down TV mount for over the mantle and installation services for it. The mount arrived late (please stop using FedEx) and the package for the mount is covered with tape and stamps that say "Inspected by Best Buy" which tells me this item is used. I paid almost $400 for a new one. There are no items nearby that exactly match this for an exchange and they cannot ship me one to get here by tomorrow. I cannot delay the installation any longer. So, I said I'd keep the item if they refunded me $50 due to it being used. They refused. First agent said the max they could offer was $19. Literally four agents later and over an hour... I am told the max they can offer me is $37. It's about more than just the compensation. It's the inconvenience of the situation. It's the potential shady business practice trying to possibly slip one by a customer who's having someone else install it. This is the corporate address to this garbage company. Therefore my review is being placed here. This company is the WORST!!!! I bought a soundbar 7/31, delivered 8/2 and it's defective. I have been sick so I contacted the chat support on 8/9 being a "total" member, they issued a replacement to be shipped 8/14 and sent me a return label to ship the defective one back. I shipped the defective one back 8/10 promptly. I wake up 8/12 being told my case was closed and they canceled my replacement because I already revived one. They keep reverting to the 7/31 purchase even though it's clear that a replacement was ordered on 8/9. They're refusing to give me a refund. City bank was not refunded $128.06, and the gift card/store credit I used in the amount of $195.57 was pocketed by Best Buy. They refused to reissue that, claiming that I already got a soundbar delivered. They refuse to look at any notes on the account, or the case ID number which states exactly what's going on. The return tracking shows it's in transit to them. They continue to refuse to issue my refunds telling me to call back in 10 days. What for? Why 10 days? Nobody can explain this. After almost an hour of anger and frustration I filed a BBB complaint and I'll be filing internet fraud complaint, for FRAUD/THEFT. You don't get to keep people's money, because you're too damn incompetent to look up the notes in the account. Not to mention having someone laugh at me while they sit behind a desk at home is absolutely absurd. What's the point of being a "total" member when you get treated like crap? The morning of my appointment I called the Total Tech customer service line after receiving a strange voice mail about rescheduling my appointment and was told my appointment was still scheduled. The technician never showed up and when I called the Total Tech line to ask why, I was told the appointment had been canceled and can't be rescheduled for 8 days. Geek Squad is a subsidiary that provides services such as delivery, installation, and repairs for appliances, cameras, cell phones, computers, smart-home devices, televisions, video game systems, etcetera. Recently, I purchased a humidifier from Best Buy's website, because they had the lowest price as compared to other retailers and offered faster shipping. The website also participated in cash back through another website. The next day, the warehouse shipped my package. Two days later, UPS delivered the package to my home. The humidifier works very well, and I feel very happy with my purchase. As for Geek Squad, I have not used them for installation of products, although I wish that I had. I imagine that their employees know more than my husband and me about how to install new electronic devices. Geek Squad neglected to cancel Apple Protection Plan on two phones after two years of protection. That caused an overcharge of $624. They refuse to refund that money even though they are the ones who made the mistake. DO NOT purchase protection plans through Best Buy. They pray on people. My family has been a long time customer for electronics and some household equipment. With this type of customer service, WE get SCREWED! Right before Christmas we were victims of a phishing scam. We had a lot on the line. We had to change bank accounts, credit cards, passwords. We went to Best Buy and they could not have been more responsive. We had the immediate attention of the greeter at the front of the store who got the attention of the store manager, regional manager, and geek squad site manager. They took the lap top and checked it in immediately for a full scan. (We didn't have an appointment). They answered our questions and made us feel calmer and less stupid. Subsequently we brought in 3 other computers and they scanned each one. Everyone was great. Special shout out to Zane and Joe. They were very knowledgeable and patient. I was literally visiting about once a week for more than a month. I'm gonna miss them as everything has been resolved tech-wise. I am thankful that we have Total Tech services. Best Buy online order DO NOT BUY - Up until now, I was very satisfied with Best Buy. I've bought many products from them everything from smart watches to speakers, laptops, etc. However, they have screwed me tremendously. I recently placed 2 separate pre-orders through them for The Child 11 inch plush. Now, this is a hot item because of its popularity. I was planning to give these to my baby cousins. Where it went terribly wrong...first, I receive an email that there was a delay. Fine. This can happen. No worries. Then, they email me weeks later that the delay email was sent by error and it will be sent by the original delivery date. Good news. Then, I get an email that both my orders were cancelled for no reason. Keep in mind that I placed my orders about ~5 months ago and only now do I hear about the cancellation. Given the demand of this product, it is now sold out everywhere, in which back when I placed the order, I could've ordered it elsewhere while available. Now, Best Buy screwed me big time. Insult to injury, I just received another email that the cancellation was made by error and I can reorder the products through a link. I click the link and it says the product is sold out. How does a company your size not exactly know the quantity of how much your customers can order and you joke and tease by back and forth emails, which in the end you say, "thanks for pre-ordering with us almost half a year ago, we can't match the demand so we'll cancel your order for a full refund. No harm, right? Whom would've received your present doesn't want it or need to get it right?". Good job Best Buy. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE ANY MAJOR APPLIANCES FROM Best Buy...(please read all) One of the worst mistakes I've made is purchasing a major appliance from Best Buy. I made the mistake of purchasing a General Electric dryer from here in the summer of 2020. Within a couple of months I was already experiencing issues and had to have it replaced. Once replaced, it worked okay (still would not recommend) until last summer 2022 when the motherboard had to be replaced due to the clothes not drying and the dryer just turning off mid cycle. Again not the best dryer because it would leave lots of lint on the clothes even though I cleaned out the lint filter ever time I ran a cycle. I purchased the Geek Squad protection plan on the initial dryer, and thank God I did--otherwise the repairs would have been out of pocket. Well February of this year (2023) the dryer caught on fire causing a house fire, as I live in an apartment and the unit is inside. Thankfully, there was no damage to the structure of the apartment other than smoke damage. However, the dryer was, of course, completely destroyed and all the clothes inside. Not to mention due to the smoke damage, I had to replace my brand new couch and loveseat as well as my mattress. Due to having to have the apartment and clothes cleaned, I was displaced in a hotel for three weeks. Again, I am so thankful that no one was hurt or I did not lose all of my clothing and that I purchased the protection plan (warranty) on the dryer initially. After filing a claim, Best Buy sent out a technician to check and see if the dryer could be repaired (which it could not) and then somewhat assisted in the process of finding a new dryer because they no longer sell that dryer model. I found a dryer and purchased the new one on March 26th. It was supposed to arrive April 15th. I made arrangements so that someone would be there so that I could get the dryer ASAP. I received a called the day prior telling me what time frame it would arrive. Then later that day (April 14th), I received a second call saying that it would not be delivered on the 15th because they did not have it and would not have it until what appears to be May 1st. I asked if I could cancel my order and find something else and was told an customer advocacy representative would contact me to help find something comparable. I was contacted by Gladys (the Customer Advocacy Personnel). Gladys was extremely unhelpful. She had a hard time understanding what I was asking and continued repeating herself. I asked her to help me find something comparable as I could not afford to wait another two weeks. Gladys found another dryer that could be delivered on April 18th, but there was $100 difference. I asked if this could be compensated given the inconvenience of the entire situation. To which she said she would have to get approval. Best Buy would not approve the difference. I even asked to speak with her supervisor, and she told me I could not do so. I have spent so much money on replacing things due to the fire, including this dryer. (The entire cost of the new dryer was not covered by the warranty.) I have also spent money on going to a laundromat when I have paid to have a washer and dryer in my home. BEST BUY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! I highly recommend shopping elsewhere. read more

Very disappointed with the Geek Squad. I paid a hundred dollars for them to take a look at my computer - I was having issues with my Wi-Fi speeds. They took it from me for twenty four hours, during which time I was unable to complete any work, and the best they could tell me was that they had no idea what the problem was. It turns out, all they did was run a diagnostic scan - something I could've done at home and not gotten a day behind at work. That would've been enough to warrant a bad review, but there's more. My laptop came with diagnostics software installed on it. When I brought my laptop home from Best Buy, that software had "mysteriously disappeared" from my start menu. I will not be using the Geek Squad again, and would highly recommend that no one else does either. read more

Best Buy Service Plans---here's how they work in the real world. So, my family has an LG washing machine, 2 yrs old, covered under a service plan. The washer won't turn on. We call Best Buy. Out comes a technician the next day. Wonderful, we think. Our washer will be fixed. Not so fast. The tech says he needs a part they don't stock, and it has to come from the factory, and getting it will take 2 weeks. Nothing to be done about that. He orders the part. It arrives at our house in less than a week. We call Best Buy. Sorry, says Best Buy, the tech put you down for two weeks. We can't install the part any sooner. TWO WEEKS w/o a working washing machine is a big deal for us. We're currently washing clothes in the kitchen sink. That's what you get with a Best Buy Service Plan. Service, sort of, in two weeks. Geek Squad is a rip off! The Best Buy chain itself isn't bad but its the Geek Squad that upsets me! These guys can and will prey on those who don't have somewhat of an above average knowledge on computers. Their services are WAY over priced....trust me I know, I have a B.S. and M.S. in Information Systems. They can and will misdiagnose what is wrong with your computer to get you to pay more money and they know most people are ignorant and desperate enough to do so! When I first began dating my girlfriend, she was constantly complaining about how slow her computer was running. She had took it to the Geek squad and these guys wanted to charge her $300 to take a "virus" off her computer AFTER paying like a 100 and so dollars just for a damn diagnostic. So, I asked her a series of questions about what her computer was doing along with the slow speed. The only other thing that it would do was give her warnings about low virtual memory in her system tray and freeze up. Usually, with virus infected computers, there are other error messages or outside processes running on the computer....which in her cases, none were. I told her based on my experience (which I do have a lot of btw), all she needed was a RAM upgrade! Best Buy recommended this too but they were going to charge her $70 for it! She went to Crucial.com and ordered some for like $45. I opened her computer up, installed it in like 5 minutes, and she hasn't had a problem with her computer's speed since! I know everyone is not fortunate enough to have a super geek for a boyfriend or girlfriend, but to take advantage of people's ignorance of the inner workings of computers then falsely diagnose their problems and overcharge them for like 5 minutes of labor is ridiculous! Seriously people, in some cases, yes you may need to take your computer to a REASONABLY PRICED technician if a virus has severely affected your machine but a lot of times if you just pay $40 for a yearly subscription to Norton or McAffee anti-viruses, your issue can be rectified. Geek Squad used FREE software (which can be download off the web) to help clean your computers...CCleaner, Ad-Adawre, and Spybot. You have PLENTY of more options on how to fix your computer before paying Best Buy $300 to do it! Trust me when I tell you this...you are not getting $300 worth assistance or labor when these guys get a hold of your computer. This is for Josh U., a Geeksquad [dot] com virtual agent from Arkansas (who I mistakenly referred to as "Josh A." in an attempt to give him honorable mention in another agent's eval). Since the company started in MN, I'm posting here. Yesterday my computer had one of those viruses that hides all of your programs and data, tells you that you've lost all your stuff, tries "restoring" some of it successfully, but finally breaks it to you: the most important stuff on your computer will be lost forever if their data recovery software isn't purchased. Of course, I believed what I was reading and thought the worse.... which is why I got in touch with Geeksquad online. They did such a good job on my computer at their location in the Lindbergh/Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, GA. that reaching out to them for help was a no-brainer. Give thanks that Josh U. was the random agent I got while waiting in the online queue. Without half of the info I relayed above, Josh U. was able to diagnose the issue immediately. He wasn't pushy with rates, letting me do what I thought was best for me price-wise. And he offered to check my relic and do a tune-up on it while he worked on my other, virus-plagued computer - without me even mentioning whether or not it was functioning properly. Yes, I paid for a service that allows me to ask for more than one computer to be worked on...but simultaneously? Josh U. demonstrated that shooting for the minimum wasn't part of his work ethic. He was in "while I'm at it" mode all the way. After getting in contact with two other agents with follow-up questions earlier today, I realized that for the major issue I had, it'd be best to contact the first agent who worked on my computers (No offense to the other two agents. They were just as cool but simply weren't put to the test like Josh U; and the last agent who helped me was the only one I let know about my Yelping, which I rarely do...although I never revealed my Yelp identity to this agent.). They do not update the customer, lie when asked about the issue and can't reproduce the product in which Apple has tracked to their facilities. I had to file a police report about a stolen phone by Geek Squad in Savannah GA. I was put at such an inconvenience with the entire situation. My replacement device arrived in sub par condition (minor dents on top bezel, only one of four bezels covered by the factory plastic film, no back plastic film, lots of sticky glue leftover on back from adhesive, and scratches on the screen). I reached out to 1 800 GEEK SQUAD and filed a case and was supposed to receive a call from the finance department regarding reimbursement within 36-48 hours. Never received this call. Proceeded to call Geek Squad again. Was told by a "geek" that they were unable to accommodate. I asked to speak to a superior / manager and was transferred to a "supervisor" named *Joan* who was very unprofessional, hostile and lacked morale (e.g. rude, snappy, interrupted, poor demeanor and snide tones). When I expressed an issue with Joan about their lack of professionalism and hostile manner and asked to speak to their superior I was hung up on! Very dissatisfied with Geek Squad's service. Stay far away from GeekSquad, and in many cases, away from Best Buy in general. Here are some of the reasons why: 1. You will be very low on their list of priorities, below eating their snacks, flirting with the opposite sex (or same sex, whichever way they go), catching up on local gossip, and pretty much anything else that can prevent them from actually doing work. 2. Whether they have a solution or not, you will be clueless. At one point, they were going to replace my computer completely. I waited for 45 minutes for them to tell me that some other employee was searching in the back for a replacement computer. 3. They don't care about you, your files, or what you need from your computer. When they were going to replace my computer, there was no regard for the data already on my computer. 4. No matter what level of protection you buy, they will try to sucker you into buying another level of protection. 5. Right hand does not know what the left hand is doing- The person who tried to sell me the additional plan didn't even know the prices. 6. A year and a half ago, I purchased a 65 inch Samsung SUHD TV from Best Buy. I paid about $1500 for it. About 2 weeks ago, my TV went out. Fortunately, I bought what I thought was called the "Protection Agreement" I contacted the "Geek Squad" who said it would be about 2 weeks for them to come out to fix it. So I agreed to that. He ordered the parts he thought what fix the TV. Finally the tech came out and told me he could not fix the TV and that I would need to call a number to get a claim # to get the TV replaced but he said Best Buy would replace it. So I called Best Buy Geek Squad again and spoke with another rep about the replacement of my TV. He then explained to me that Samsung does not make the TV that I purchased any more so I could either pay an extra $300 for the next level up or I could downgrade to a TV that wasn't as good quality as the one I originally purchased. Not to mention, I would have to pay for another "Protection Agreement" once I purchased the TV. I explained that I didn't have $300 extra for a TV similar to the one I already purchased and didn't feel that was good or ethical business to make me pay another $300 for a TV that was equivalent to mine. I did nothing to damage the TV. It just stopped working. As a consumer you trust that the product will work and that the store that sells them and that also says they will take care of you if you BUY some extra protection from them will do what they say. I asked to speak to a supervisor because of how unethical this policy was. Especially since I spend a lot of money there and am supposedly an ELITE Memeber which really means nothing. A supervisor was not available at the time so I asked they call me that next day on Sunday because my job does not allow me to be on the phone and my breaks are too short for me to wait on hold to call them to discuss this. The next day a supervisor named Nikki proceeded to argue with me about how wrong I was about the situation. She said that the protection agreement is really a service agreement that states that they will only cover up to the value of what you purchased. Would be nice if the sales people educated you at the store of this before you purchase it. But they don't. Otherwise that might prevent a sucker like me to buy the agreement. Finally she stated she found an LG TV that was equal to my Samsung TV and asked me to go look at it and call her back. No direct # so that meant when I called her back I would have to wait on hold for another 15 minutes to get her and why she didn't tell me that from the get go instead of aruging with me initially, I don't know but she didn't even apologize for my frustration. Just said ok, bye and hung up. I found a Samsung TV that was about the same price and equal value to what I bought. By the time I was able to call Best Buy back Icould not get my TV for another week. I waited a week and a half for my TV to arrive. When the contract delivery guys Rick and Josh, they realized Best Buy had given me a lemon TV that didn't have all the parts in the box and said they would have to take it back and another TV would have to be delivered. I asked what time they would be back and he stated I would have to reschedule with Best Buy and that I wouldn't be able to reschedule until they are done with their route so earliest would be Monday. I called Best Buy and asked for a supervisor. Jackson came on the line and basically said he would try to contact the delivery team to see if they could come back that day or next day Sunday. Later he called me to say he hadn't heard from anyone and would be off the next day (how convenient) but that he would contact the supervisor that will be on duty named Adam and give him a heads up so Adam can contact me the next day to see what could be done. I had to be the one to ask for compensation for my inconvenience. NO ONE offered me any type of compensation for all my frustration. I am not one to ask for anything free but by this time, I felt Best Buy owed me something for their screw ups. Jackson explained I would get a lousy $50 gift card which normally I would be appreciative of but that didn't even nearly cover the cost of the $150 service agreement I had to buy again for the new TV. So Sunday, comes and no call from Adam. By 12:50 my time I decide to call him because of the long hold times I figured I could reach him by 1. Adam tells me he is familiar with my situation and is still waiting to hear from his guys about delivery today. Well, I explained that it was already 1 pm and when would he know? After I drilled him for the Basically after I drilled him for the truth, he told me that most likely it will not happen today but MAYBE Tuesday. Since I work its not coming until next Saturday. I will be out of town and will have to have someone wait there for the delivery. I bought a Galaxy s5 at Best Buy Sept 2014. At that time, they sold me on buying the 2 year Geek Squad protection plan for about $160. They told me no matter what happened to my phone, if Geek Squad couldn't fix it, they'd send me a new one. I bought the plan. November 2015, my charging port stopped working. They shipped a refurbished(not new) s5 to me, I sent my old phone back, and I noticed they charged my credit card $160. I called and asked what that is for, and they told me it was their service fee. So i basically paid $320 for a refurbished phone under their plan, not to mention over $600 for a new phone that lasted 14 months. With Black Friday deals and other Christmas deals, I think I could've got a new s6 for much less. I called and Best Buy and Geek Squad said there is nothing they can do. No one told me about the $160 service fee, when i bought the plan, no one told me about it when i took it into Best Buy and the Geek Squad to utilize the plan. I would have never bought the plan had I known I would also be charged a large service fee for using it. THERE IS NO POINT IN BUYING THIS SERVICE PLAN. I won't be using Geek Squad Service anymore. I'm also thinking I can buy most anything from Amazon or somewhere else.
