I personally didn't feel challenged in the class that I attended, but it is a very nice fitness…read moreclub! Just not the pace that I prefer when it comes to HIIT workouts. The instructor was also less involved throughout the workouts, which isn't a bad thing. Again, just not my preference! I really liked the quotes and zen of the place though. Very motivating.

I've been to this Tuluka Fitness 3 times to work out since finding it on ClassPass. The drop in…read moreclasses on ClassPass cost fewer credits than a lot of other gyms, so it was easy to decide to try it out. (I think the memberships cost over $200 a month even with new member promotions, so you have to really like the gym and really have the money to spend in order to get yourself a membership.) There is a parking lot behind the gym and a garage across the street where you can park if it's full. The selling point on the workouts here is that you can choose to work upper or lower body in one of the sections, kind of like a choose your own sweaty adventure. You start with a warmup, do the upper or lower body sub workout, do an abs sub workout, then do the workout of the day (WOD). That last part may remind you of Crossfit workouts, and their workouts indeed have Crossfit elements to them. The workout of the day includes a set of cardio with your choice of runs on the treadmill, pull downs on the ski erg, cycling on the assault bike or ergs on the rower. We did box jumps the first time I worked out here, but the trainer always asks you to let them know if you have any injuries or concerns with any of the movements and they can modify for you. I waited to go a couple more times after my first workout because I went through that first one largely annoyed. The trainer spoke Spanish for the majority of the time and lost any pleasantry when she turned to speak to me for corrections or the equipment to use. While a little kudos here and there would be motivating, she had little energy and said nothing encouraging. It felt like a cluster for a moment because there were 10 people (for a 6 AM workout) needing to use the same equipment for the WOD (like the boxes), so we needed to start the round at different sets. The other aspect of the workouts that reminds me of Crossfit is that the rounds can be repetitive, especially because you have to count reps constantly. Each sub workout consists of 3 rounds. The last time I went a few days ago, the trainer (a new one for me) told us to do each set within the sub workout 3 times before moving onto the next set, instead of doing each kind of set once and going through them 3 times. Either way, it's on you to count how many reps you do and and keep track of how many sets and rounds you've done and finish them within the allotted time (usually 10-12 minutes). The trainer leads you through a stretch at the end to cool down. What's great and torturous about the workouts is that they will take an hour from start to stretching finish. While many other studios and workouts promise a certain time like 45 or 50 minutes, I find myself sometimes coming out of the studio earlier than that time frame. You know you'll get the most out of the time you spend at this gym. It's a bonus that they lend towels to use during the workouts, because you will need one!

Wow my body needed this class. I had been away from Pilates…read morefor 7 weeks. My shoulders, my neck my hips felt tight. This 6 person class on Tuesday and the class today was a definite winner. Marianna is such a skilled teacher. Her verbal cues, all detailed, encouraging the correct posture, ensuring the class fully understands what part of the body each move will focus on. She dissects each motion so one is aware of how the move should be performed, where one will feel the movement from and the benefit of each movement. It really is a lesson in my own ability. Marianne takes time to review each students position, to make sure it is correct, whilst also ensuring each student is working within their personal bodily parameters, our ability and if she feels you can give more to the exercise , she encourages you to do so - no pressure at all. Marianne is diligent with her teaching to ensure each students posture, position, reach and techniques are correct. She wants you to get the best outcome for you and equips you with the knowledge to reach your Minds goal/ aim. As I progress in each class, I feel such joy when I reflect on where I started with Blaze Pilates and notice the difference I now see and feel in my body. At the end of each class, I felt taller, leaner, stronger, actually mentally sharp. So you see after being away for seven weeks... wow. My body truly needed to get back on board. Here's a Side note For you: If you are looking for a large gym class.... routine-based, no personal feedback, and no guidance on form, then this is not your place. Please just Join a club or a gym! However, if you are serious about your body, your health, you want structure, precision, and highly qualified, passionate Pilates teaching, Blaze Pilates should absolutely be your go-to Pilates studio. Give it a shot, you won't look back. Thank you Blaze Pilates.
