She took the time to ask what I wanted and really wanted to know what I wanted to get from my photos. She asked about my details and what style I wanted. She was extremely sweet and from that phone conversation alone I could tell she had a true passion for wedding photography. Pamela wasn't just my wedding photographer, she was a friend. I booked her about a year in advance and she checked in periodically throughout that year. We had several interactions leading up to the day (phone, email, in person) where she spent time helping me plan the ends and odds of my wedding, she even helped me come up with my wedding timeline. She also visited my venue to brainstorm ideas before the big day and even sent me an itinerary. She really thinks of everything! I would not recommend trusting Laura to be your wedding day photographer. She is a pleasant person…read moreand her work in a controlled, one-on-one environment such as an engagement shoot is good. On our wedding day, I was disappointed beyond words with Laura. I will start with the fact that she LOST more than an hour of photos. This included pictures of my husband going table to table during the reception taking individual pictures with our guests, our cake cutting, and our sparkler exit. How she compensated for losing our wedding photos... Six weeks to the day Laura delivered the photos as stated in the contract. At this time she was forthcoming about the loss of photos and offered an offensively low refund. Which I explained to her that we could not accept this for the following reasons--we spent more time taking pictures with our guests, going table to table, than enjoying the latter part our reception because we had many guests travel from distant places. And we wanted to send those pictures to them with thank you notes. The cake photos, sparklers exit, and group photos outside the venue are disappointing to be lost but all those photos of us and numerous guests at the reception was an irreplaceable loss. Her final offer was to refund 9.89% of our invoiced amount, not good enough. My other huge gripe with her wedding day performance was she had no command or direction over the photos with large parties at all. I would suggest that you would need to have a wedding planner to work with her because she is unable to take charge and work towards achieving the photos you list as the "must-have" shots. Laura excels in outdoor photos with natural light and no need for a flash, which look natural, and candids. On the final photos that were delivered, many of our indoor photos had no consistency in hues, warmth, and brightness. I was washed out in many of the "directed" indoor photos at our church, because of the flash. We brought this to her attention and she was very responsive in being willing to do the edits, but the edits were horrific, thoughtless, unusable changes.

There are many photographers to choose from in the DMV but the Team here is top-notch. We had a long list of VIPs that needed posed photos and Laura organized and produced beautiful photos of them all. Laura is very kind, professional and goes above and beyond to make sure her clients are well taken care of... even down to providing flexibility in the scheduling the headshot marathon. Her calm demeanor and sweet spirit made it a stress-free and positive experience for everyone especially those who did not enjoy being photographed.

But, outside of the day of the event, this was a miserable experience. A couple of months prior to the event, I began to email Jennifer to arrange the separate portrait session. She never replied to an email, and finally answered her phone, stating that the emails must have gone to her spam folder (even though we'd communicated primarily through email as we were going through the contracting process). She arrived half an hour late to the portrait session, for which we only had one hour since it was the day of the event. Our contract stated that we'd have the pictures 4-6 weeks after the event. We hadn't heard from her at all at 6 weeks, so began emailing, calling, and texting, and got no response at all. Finally, on February 3 (more than 3 months after the event), she texted back that she was "almost done." We didn't hear back again until March. At that point, we were told that some of the files were "corrupted" and she was sending them to a lab to see if they could be recovered. What she had was finally posted in mid-March. After another couple of months of desperately trying to get Jennifer to respond to inquiries about the status of the corrupted files, she finally replied that she had "good news" on May 5 and the recovered pictures would be posted that weekend. It wasn't until June 12 that she finally posted the pictures. There were only a few, though, and they were not of the people and parts of the event that she knew we were hoping for. By way of apology, all we ever received was a $200 credit towards prints and a promise to connect us with someone who does albums so that we could buy an album at cost. (We never got an actual apology for anything, just excuses.) Of course, she never did connect us with the album person. But now, 10 months after the event and with prints and files in hand, we are simply glad to be done with the whole thing.

She was also great with our greyhound and got some adorable shots of him. Stacey has a wonderful eye for light and color and found a lot of unique backgrounds for our photos. I moderated a panel last week and a panelist I was being introduced to said, "yes, the woman with the most amazing head shot." Yesterday morning we did our 5th(!) family mini session shoot with Stacey in a garden next to the Capitol. It's wonderful to get these beautiful shots of our children growing up -- and have some shots with me that I love that aren't selfies! Years ago Stacey took an iconic (among our family and friends) photo of my son sulking off to the left of the Washington monument when my husband and I were were standing to the right smiling while pregnant with our daughter.
