I've had my Mustang since 1997 so needless to say, I've been to a fair share of auto shops over the years. I was referred to Autoworks Restomod by another classic Mustang owner, and reached out to them through Instagram asking if they'd be able to help with the issues I was experiencing with my '66. My Mustang has quite a bit of aftermarket work done to it such as a 1989 5.0 EFI motor with an AOD transmission, power disc breaks, coil over suspension, custom wheels/axles, and a custom rear end, so it has been difficult to find a shop that could work on it. Even before ever stepping through the door, or meeting them in person, the level of service that I received from them was impressive. They were quick to respond, seemed genuinely engaged with my situation and the questions I was asking, and they were able to squeeze me into the shop despite the fact that they had a full garage of other classic Mustangs that they were working on. When I brought my '66 to Autoworks Restomod, it was barely drivable. I actually had to trailer it over to the shop because the rear ended had blown, and my car could barely drive above 30 miles per hour. From the start, the owner Matt, was personally involved with not only the initial meet and greet and diagnosing of the problem, but he actually was in contact with me throughout the entire time my mustang was in the shop. Thanks to Matt and his teams' thorough inspection and testing of my car, they were able to not only fix and replace the rear end, they also discovered a faulty break issue that could have been catastrophic if left unrepaired, and ended up troubleshooting and fixing an electrical/computer issue that I had been dealing with for over 10 years!! Words cannot express how happy I was the day Matt called me and told me that all of the issues that I brought the Mustang in for were fixed and it was ready to be picked up. I am so happy with not only the level of service I received but also for the quality of the work they did. All of the work was completed a few months back in 2021, and I have driven the car weekly and sometimes daily without any issues at all! This Mustang is my first car that I got when I was 16 years old, and I'm grateful to have it back on the road and running like it's brand new. Thank you so much Autoworks Team for all the work that you did!!!

I lifted the hood to find that the oil cap was NEVER REPLACED after the oil change was done. I had oil splashed all over the parts and underneath the padding of the interior hood. I couldn't believe the guy made such a rookie mistake! When I called the shop, to tell them about my problem, no one answered the phone, even though it was 4:50 and they closed at 5. They were closed on Saturday too. I had to wait the whole labor day weekend to go to this shop again. When I went again, the mechanic (older guy) was very defensive and couldn't believe that the oil cap wasn't replaced. I told him I could show him pictures of the damage, but right away he refused to see any. Then he started playing mind games, asking me, "Who cleaned your car?" when the car was visibly dirty. When I used my index finger to wipe the outside of the engine and show him the grim and oil, he told me that the car "was like that before." I told him that it wasn't and told him I took pictures and videos. He then asked me, "what do you want me to do?" How about some accountability? Apology? How about saying that you'll at the least clean the exterior of the engine? I asked him to clean the parts underneath the hood. He told me to COME BACK! He literally told me to come back in 2 or 3 days! Wow. Do you think I would let him touch my car after his unwillingness, deception, and rude behavior? I came to this auto shop because it was highly rated on Yelp, but I could not believe the horrible service that I got. I called another day to ask to speak to the owner, but the mechanic refused to even give me his name. In fact, he lied and said that HE was the owner!!! But I saw the owner on the day I went in for the oil change. Don't come here unless you want a rude, unaccountable jerk to ruin your car.

I really wanted to continue supporting Lee's Automotive because Chris technicians has worked on my…read morevehicle, as well as another vehicle we've brought to him, multiple times. We've been repeat customers, referred business, and have even left good tips because I believe in showing appreciation when someone works on my car. Unfortunately, after several experiences, I've reached a point where I no longer feel comfortable trusting this shop. My biggest concern is that items have gone missing from my vehicle while it was left there for repairs. This has happened more than once, which is extremely concerning. I cannot personally say which individual was responsible, but when I leave my vehicle with a business, I expect my belongings to still be there when I pick it up. Because of that, I would strongly recommend removing anything valuable from your vehicle before leaving it here. Pricing has also become a concern. Chris has told us before, "I know money doesn't grow on trees, but I gotta pay my technicians," and has mentioned giving us a "Black San Diego discount." I appreciate any discount, but some of the prices we've been quoted or charged have still felt extremely high, especially considering how much business we've brought here. I've even asked about the price of something as basic as an oil change on my vehicle on separate occasions and received two different prices. That inconsistency makes it difficult for me to know what I should actually expect to pay. To give credit where it's due, Chris has gotten repairs done for us, which is why we continued coming back. This review isn't meant to say that every experience was terrible or that no good work has been done. My issue is that being a loyal customer should build trust over time, and unfortunately, my experience has gone in the opposite direction. Between the missing belongings, inconsistent quotes, and prices that have increasingly felt unreasonable, I no longer feel confident leaving my vehicle here. I'm sharing this because other customers should know what my experience has been and make their own decision.
