1) back in the old days, they have stickers for this company in many of the households in OC. 2) they have been bought by a larger and more trust worthy company: GDI garage door (which has a pretty good rating) 3)However, the GDI, south Orange county branch is still ran by the Seacoast ppl, stay away from this company!!! 4) first, the good: they fully refunded everything at the end, so at least they are not a fraud. 5) however, their technician Allen, is very rude, unprofessional, and dishonest. 6) we had a double layer insulated (good quality), short panel, garage door broken, Allen came in and told us to replace this (with a similar door), parts & labor, with a new motor, will be $3900. then we found out at the time of installation, the door he purchased was the cheapest kind: non-insulated, just a piece of metal. 7) Allen keeps changing the story: first he said he has the door in stock and installation can happen the next day, then after i paid the deposit, later said he's not sure if it's in stock, and later he said, he's not sure if he has the motor... 8) both Allen and the company will give you the run around, and never returns your call. 9) there are lot more bad stories, but i will just save the spance and time for now. in conclusion: stay away from this company at all costs, even though it's called GDI now. read more

The technician charges me $350 for the repairs plus $12.25 for service fee that only took him 15 minutes to fix. The technician try to charge me at first $500 for making the garage door open and close and realigning the wire so I did by myself. Then he try to add some quotes for additional re enforcement for my garage door. Also recommended me to replace my garage door spring. He trying to charge me chinese spring for $150 each and Canadian Spring for $300 each. I just got our house last year now he recommending me to replace the garage door spring from their. They replaced springs on my garage door in 2019. I paid extra for the better springs and warranty, which increased the cost substantially. Now my garage failed and it burned the motor out. Multiple techs have come out and stated that the springs are undersized and that ended up burning out the motor. Additionally GDI refused to honor the warranty on the springs because the springs did not break. The tech who replaced my springs sent me a picture of the old springs that GDI installed, stating that they are two different brands and undersized. I wish I could give zero stars. My experience with GDI Garage Doors was nothing short of a nightmare. My garage door track was slightly bent but opened and closed fine. This happened once before, and the technician just bent the track straight and left. This time, the technician said it was actually our springs that needed to be replaced. That made no sense to me, but he insisted. I waited with him for some time while he worked. He majorly damaged my wall when he removed the springs. I needed to leave, so I asked if there was any additional work that would need to be done. He said no, I paid the invoice in full, and left. I returned home to a garage door that now won't open or close by itself. He interrupted my husband's work meeting to tell him as he left that we would now need to also buy a new motor for the garage door to work. He replaced the springs, and now our motor won't open the garage door. I called the company, and they sent someone else out the next day to confirm this. They said there was nothing they could do and that they couldn't put our old springs back on. The technician lied to me and told me I would only need to replace the springs. Once I had paid him and left the house, he added to the invoice that we would need to buy an entire new motor! I never would have paid all that money for new springs if I knew we would then need to buy a new motor! So shady and unethical. The repair itself was shoddy at best. The door still doesn't close properly, and now it makes a terrible noise every time it opens. I've tried contacting the company multiple times to fix these issues, but they are unresponsive and seem uninterested in providing any follow-up service. Avoid this GDI Garage Doors at all costs. Do not use GDI for any repair(s) to your garage door. If you take away nothing else from this review, I challenge you to obtain an email, name, or phone number from someone in their legal department and/or ownership. I spoke to "Leo" who claimed to be a manager but would not reveal a name, phone number, or email for anyone in their legal department and/or ownership. In essence, the installer installed a new spring and unbeknownst to me, it was the wrong size. Eleven months later (still under the one year warranty) as a result of the wrong spring being smaller than the other, it caused too much tension and a cable broke and the door came off its track. Not wanting to do business with this company anymore, I had another one come out an install two new springs of the same size. I have been calling and emailing (GDI) the company but get absolutely nowhere. I insisted someone in ownership contact me but was told they do not reveal this information. I also requested from Leo, a contact person from their legal department but he again said, they do not reveal that information. I even asked Leo if he knew the name of the owner, and, you guessed it, he said he could not reveal that. This is all to say that you should not consider using this garage door company (GDI) for any repair. If anyone from GDI in ownership (not Leo or his alleged boss "Michael") gets wind of this review and would like to hear more about my reasonable request to get reimbursed for the cost of the parts (only,) please feel free to contact me.
