Our dog is not as friendly as most - he doesn't like to be pet in certain areas and he is a lot of work. He's also very unpredictable if you don't know him. When Susan and Erick came for a meet and greet, they handled him with professionalism and as people trained to handle dogs do. I noticed a lot of small movements that they did were the signs of TRAINED professionals and not hobbyists. To provide more context, we had a professional dog trainer work with our dog when he was younger, so I can recognize the signs of someone who has dog training. We were extremely nervous to have someone other than family watch our dog, because he had never been watched by "strangers" before. Susan and Ericks team did outstanding and gave us updates everyday. They even alerted us when we had an AC issue that we were able to take care of remotely. They didn't just monitor our dog and two cats, they kept an eye out on the house as well. Every single time I tried to schedule a groom or boarding, there were issues. What should have been a simple process turned into a drawn-out, frustrating experience with poor communication and no clear answers. To make things worse, after multiple attempts to get something scheduled, they claimed they "didn't like my tone" and refused to allow me to make a reservation at all. I've never experienced anything like that. Instead of trying to resolve the situation or help a customer, they chose to shut the door completely. Customer service is where they completely fall apart. Responses are slow, often rude or dismissive, and there's zero sense of urgency or accountability. It genuinely feels like they don't value their customers. At this point, it's hard to tell if they even care about having customers at all, let alone new ones. Do yourself a favor and avoid 2nd Family Dog at all costs. There are plenty of other businesses out there that will treat you with respect and actually make the process easy.
