In my first meeting with him he talked to me for almost an hour, way longer than I expected. At the tie of our appt. I already had a referral to go and see a GI doc, but thanks to his probing about my chronic GI issues he had the doc do two tests instead of the one that they had initially suggested. Thanks to his thorough discussion and ordering of additional tests they were able to finally figure out and treat an issue that I had been experiencing for years! I finally felt listened to as a patient. I found this refreshing and encouraging. My husband also sees him and I would recommend him to anyone in the North Shore network in or around the Chicago/Evanston/Skokie area. Nice office staff too!

I've had to find new healthcare after over 10 years with this doctor. In my opinion, his…read morelackadaisical approach to my healthcare combined with the staffs inefficiency and rudeness is not only a disservice to his patients, but may also put there health in serious jeopardy. Perscriptions requests from patients or pharmacies are often not addressed on a timely basis, but according to his office it's always the pharmacies fault. On a recent visit when I indicated I was having ongoing pain in my left knee the doctor told me it was a combination of old age and that i was doing too much yoga. A trip to Immediate Care led to a diagnosis of a torn miniscus. Prior to that the doctor ordered a CT scan. Proper paperwork was not filed with BCBS at that time. Now because he's changed practices, they cannot refile the claim, so I have to pay the bill. I would schedule his first appointment on Saturday to get in and out quickly, but he always ran at least 5 - 10 minutes late - no respect for others time. After moving back to chicago after college I returned to northshore/Swedish as that's where my…read morepediatrician was previously located. Since then I've seen only two primary care doctors (one- two times each if that), choosing them only because they had the earliest availability, not because I had a good connection with them, actually quite the contrary, as one suggested against a routine culture as I was sexually active but not showing ill symptoms. Anyway, I have an appointment for a procedure at a medspa next week and before moving forward with it, I wanted to meet with a new doctor to get a second opinion. I already paid my deposit with the medspa but have 72 hours to cancel it if need be. My primary care doctor (I've only seen once) was booked until September and I was looking to switch anyway. I booked with Dr. Johansson as he was the only doctor who had availability before my med spa appointment and had good reviews. I then received a phone call from his receptionist saying he couldn't take me. I asked why not. She said because "he's the doctor and he said so" and couldn't give me a reason. I was honest and said as long as there's availability with him online I'm going to continue to book until I have a valid reason for cancellation. I'm a paying customer with insurance. When I pushed for an answer, she said one can perceive my actions as 'doctor hopping,' which doctors don't like. I informed her that I had yet to speak with a licensed physician about this concern, as my record can reflect, and that I was just looking for a second opinion not necessarily a prescription. I previously missed an appointment regarding the same issue but the record reflects that I never met or spoke with a doctor. I haven't seen any doctor about anything since April. There was no "I'll let the doctor know" or "I'll have him follow up," it was a complete disregard for patient care. Pretentious, I have the power attitude, and cares more about being right than understanding not everyone situation is black and white. I understand there are patients that 'doctor hop' looking for a certain result but doctors should have the decency to hear a patient out. Patients should have a right to switch to doctors they feel comfortable and safe with, just like patients can switch therapists. Looks like not being able to schedule with him was a blessing in disguise.

I was dreading the appointment because typically doctors reprimand you for your lifestyle (i.e. If you have more than 2 drinks per month you're an alcoholic, etc.) and it's demeaning with respect to social standards. I try to keep healthy but I'm not perfect. Anyway, Dr. Pearson was the first doctor I've been to who treated me like a real person & listened intently to my concerns. She spent over 30 minutes with me (again, this was just a proactive check up) and by the time I left I felt like a VIP patient. Then within a few days after the appointment, she personally called me to deliver my test results (all positive) and patiently walked me through each section, explaining areas I did not understand. Moreover, she talks to you in layman terms, translating the medical jargon into coherent facts. I'm actually excited that I have such a wonderful regular physician! I certainly won't be dreading my regular checkups anymore. Seriously, Dr. Pearson is the best!!
