I hesitated to hire a nutritionist because I felt like I had been pretty well educated on what eating healthy looked like. But these days, between whole 30 and paleo and keto, I was having a difficult time knowing what I should focus on. Jenn gave me clear directions and delicious recipes right away. It is not just about working out and eating healthy, but it is about leading a full life, whatever that may mean for you. Her background in counseling definitely comes through in all of her work, and I quickly was comfortable working with her and talking to her about my frustrations and my goals. As a nutritionist, she has a wonderful way of personalizing each session. While there are pre-planned topics for each discussion, if there is something personal going on, that always takes precedent. I started my nutrition program around the same time I started law school, so there were many stressors aside from food in my life. I definitely attribute a lot of my success in my first year to having Jenn help me work through the stress and focus and make time in my life for important things outside of school. As a trainer, Jenn is just extremely motivating and challenges you as far as you can go. She makes training fun and helps you set reachable goals, so you are constantly meeting them and setting news ones. She has innovative ideas to help you work around crazy schedules and makes sure that you are always pushing yourself. Overall, Jenn is a great person to work with and will quickly become a great friend! She is always willing to help through email, and is very flexible to meet the needs of those with demanding schedules. This year has been amazing working with her, and I look forward to continuing to do so for a very long time!

A little background on me: All during college I was extremely active and really did not have any issues with food. Unfortunately, after law school and a health issue that required me to take a break from working out, I found myself obsessed with what I ate. I dictated what went on my plate by what article I read or diet book I picked up (one week avocados were OK, the next they weren't). I found myself starting my professional career out of shape, tired, and generally down on myself. When I came across Jenn's website I realized it was time to change. Meeting with Jenn made me say out loud how I felt towards food and myself. It was shocking to see how over the past years I had deprived my body of what it needed, so much so that I avoided certain parts of the grocery store because I had labeled certain foods "off limits." Jenn worked with me to make me realize what really tells me what goes on my plate, and that is my body! With helpful handouts. websites, guides, and food samples Jenn has helped me work towards a healthy relationship with food and myself. We also worked on being self aware, realizing all the factors of my life that drive my stress and happiness. This has helped me move away from using food as a coping mechanism, whether it was binging or restricting due to stress. We continue to work on exciting ways to incorporate nutrient dense foods and new recipes into my lifestyle, learning the cues my body gives me when it needs more food or when it is truly full. I now find myself trying new recipes, eating to satisfaction, and having more energy. On days that I ignore what my body is trying to tell me I can find myself tired and constantly hungry but as I learn to listen to my body these days beome few and far between. I am now excited and energized about my new journey, including getting back to the active lifestyle I missed with a newfound energy. Thanks Jenn!

    Jenn hosted a private health coaching session for my alumni club. She did an amazing job. She…read moreworked with a caterer to cook healthy yet super tasty dishes such as quinoa with dried fruits and an amazing sweet chicken and squash dish. She spent a lot of time going over how to make such items at home, how to buy the ingredients and how to make them healthy along with the key science behind making healthy choices (this was an MIT crowd after all). A few of my colleagues went further and purchased personalized coaching from Jenn and they were all very happy as well. More recently, I was lucky enough to get to sample her services "in kitchen". The centerpiece of the dish was a Sesame Black Rice (see picture) which was just plain amazing along with some healthy fish (though I think her restaurateur husband may have had a hand in that). The best part is that she goes step by step in how to pick the ingredients (all available and easy to get at Shaws in this case), how to prepare the food and realistic portion sizes depending on your health goals. I haven't found the time yet to sample her personalized fitness sessions, but I have taken her group fitness classes before and they were wonderful as well. I think in general that too many supposed health and fitness "experts" simply teach their own limited knowledge and old fashion rules of thumb. Jenn seems to really study the science underlying WHY something makes sense so she can explain it to skeptics like me.
