Vegetable tikka masala, dal makhani, Chana masala, Paneer Pakora

Has been under new ownership for the past 13 years or so. I love vegetarian dishes but am not a vegetarian. Food is solidly flavorful. I ordered all "American mild" as others in my party can't eat spicy food. The only thing they thought was too spicy was the vegetable samosas which was a 3/10 to me. Each dish was great. Generous portions. You will walk away with leftovers as you will be stuffed. The restaurant has been a Springfield fixture for a while. It could use a little updating of the drink menu, labeling of the menu for those with sensitivity/allergy, and some space updating. Give this awesome place a try.

Really tasty Indian food! The amount of vegan options are fantastic, and they are super knowledgeable on the vegan friendly menu options. The food was delicious, not greasy, and filling. Big portions! This place is great for romantic dates too! Highly recommend this gem!

In Springfield for the day and decided to try this place out as it was near hotel. Had the Tikamasala and sampler. Rating it a 5. And the thing I'm trying to get used to is being served water as we sat down- which really helps given the humidity. Great location, price point, very clean, great service and well worth trying!

I really love the food here. It's a shame the place looks so strange from the outside. It was a Chinese restaurant years ago, and they never updated the outside. However, don't let the outer appearance, or the location, fool you. It looks very nice inside. The food is delicious, and I've read from some about over pricing and small portions. I definitely feel like neither of these are true. Literally the best samosa I've ever had.

Try the buffet. You will find something you like. Nice staff, tasty alternative to fast food and the area.

I could put that green (cilantro and mint, I think) sauce on everything, so delicious, especially with samosas. I dream about it.

Tanja brought us some pita bread and carrot salad to start. That was complementary. We had a couple of cocktails from the bar, which were very good. We next had the Cigar Borek, which were little cheese rolls with a spicy tomato dip that was outstanding! We then ordered the beef doner wrap, which was just delicious! The beef they use for this is really tender and delicious. We cannot wait to return to this lovely Ugly Restaurant. :)

One of the reasons I love Mediterranean food is its use of spices and infused flavors. A complimentary carrot salad mixed with yogurt was served with warm pita bread. This was not good, frankly, and was the start of what would end up being an underwhelming experience. I ordered the mixed sampler platter for an appetizer. The only thing worth eating was the falafel and the cigar borek (fried breaded cheese). My entrée was the chicken shish kabobs that were accompanied by rice, a small chargrilled tomato, a chargrilled pepper and an onion salad. The chicken lack any kind of seasoning. Even salt would've help. This was probably the most bland Mediterranean food I've ever experienced. The presentation was grade A but the lack of flavor resulted in a Grade C. Even the baklava was bland. For $60 (including tip) I could've had a much more fulfilling meal.

The food was better than expected, even though I thought the kebabs would be cuts of meat instead of ground beef. It was served on a bed of saffron rice & had a little side salad with onion nestled in the tray. The yogurt dressing (or sauce) was pleasantly seasoned.

Visually, the food looked great, and the portions were surprisingly generous -- especially for the Chicken Over Rice and Kunafa, which came in a full circular container (not just a small slice like I expected). Starting with the samosa, I was only given one when the order was supposed to include two. They were very small and clearly store-bought rather than handmade, which was a bit disappointing. I had also called ahead and placed a specific order request -- no tomatoes, extra white sauce -- but unfortunately, those details were missed. The person on the phone was polite, but it was frustrating that the accommodations I asked for weren't reflected in the meal, especially after double-checking. The Chicken Over Rice was flavorful, loaded with onions, green peppers, and hints of saffron. It's definitely Desi-style, so if you're not used to bold spices or flavors, it might feel strong -- but not particularly spicy. No white sauce as requested, which took away from the overall experience, but the portion size was excellent. The unexpected star of the order? The Kunafa. While it's not made in the traditional Levantine style, it was genuinely enjoyable and satisfying. I'd return for that alone. Overall, this was one of my more critical reviews, but I still see potential here. The food is halal, flavorful, and affordable. While the execution could've been better, especially with communication and accuracy, I'd be open to giving them another try -- especially for a late-night bite if I'm in town again.

Rasoi is located in an unassuming strip mall where it looks like not much else is going on. Also looks kind of crummy inside but it's not that bad. The prices are pretty okay for a cuisine that often can be pricey. Even though it wasn't that particularly nice looking it wasn't worse than expected. It's a place that looks like it's struggling for business as we were the only ones eating inside. There was one person who came in to get a carryout order. Menu has the classic items. There's plenty of options for meat eaters and vegetarians. Good prices as far as around here. It's about $5 to get a shot of Bombay Sapphire, as well as a few other liquors. They serve the pop in cans and customers have to pour it themselves. It's about $12 for an entree. Unlike many Indian restaurants like to do and make customers pay extra to order, these include rice. I got the Chana Masala. They give you the option of level of spiciness. Medium is plenty hot for most customers. The hottest just overpowers the flavors to be honest. Great place as far as getting cuisine that isn't common in this area. It's located at North Martin Luther King Jr. and Pershing. There's a crap ton on the menu including many hot and spicy things for vegans and vegetarians.

And as always, I offer another…read moredisclaimer: Our favorite food is Indian food, so it's hard to go wrong, but we have an Indian restaurant we hold above all others, that we have patronized for over a decade (Tandoor in Clarksville, TN). And nothing ever compares. But Rasoi was definitely one of my favorites in recent memory and I really enjoyed the food, takeout or not! I had the gobi chili (dry), made with battered cauliflower florets tossed in a spicy sauce with onions and bell peppers. I also had the aloo tikki, not to be confused with the aloo gobi. Aloo tikki is two tasty potato patties that are meant to be dipped in flavorful sauces. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfect for the potato lovers. This version is like a potato patty had a baby with a hash brown, but great just the same. And the chicken vindaloo, served in a tangy tomato based curry with tomato. This was also delicious. I am usually not a bread or naan person (though I can definitely appreciate it), but this time I got the onion naan. It was thin and buttery and I could definitely taste the onions baked in. Excellent. Should be noted that this place does not offer spice levels on DoorDash (but they do on their regular website). I would call everything I received medium spice. It was flavorful, but not much heat. And that's probably what most palm colored people are looking for. I could use a little more heat, and I'm sure they would provide if I had asked for it in a note, but when I first taste a place, I usually start with medium to gauge the true taste of a dish. Many of the traditional Indian offerings--veggie samosas, pakora, chicken 65, various gobi iterations, naan, roti, biryani, various paneer dishes, . They also offer things that aren't as common in the average restaurant, such as tandoori fish (they actually have several seafood offerings), Punjabi Kadhi (pakoras in curd and sauce). They offer Indian-Chinese fusion as well (egg fried rice, chili chicken, vegetable noodles). They have a chaat (Indian street food) selection, dosas (lentil wraps). And while I'm not a fan of specialty restaurants catering to the American masses, they do offer various sandwiches, burgers, nuggets, and wings. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Will definitely order from here again. Hope this helps spread the word, as I am the first to add and review them on yelp!

My friend and I were in Decatur on a weekend trip and loved the food so much, we planned our drive back to St. Louis to allow dinner here a second night in a row. There are tandoori dishes (the tandoori chicken is exquisite), kormas, vindaloos, tikka masalas, and a host of vegetarian dishes -dal, saag paneer, and much more. The bread selection is unparalled - at least 7 choices, with top honors going to the onion kulcha & the aloo paratha so far - many more to try! Only room to try the kheer for dessert - heavenly!
