Walked in mid morning. No one came to counter. Saw someone at the other end of the building doing something. I walked thru the door chime alert and yelled "hello" multiple times yet no one responded. So I called from my cell. The phone just rang and rang. The guy in the back just kept doing what he was doing. I left, never to return. What a great way to run a business. read more

I wanted to give a huge shoutout and thanks to Amy at Gateway cleaners. I noramlly dont write reviews but my experience deserved a review and 5 stars! I had an a wedding to attend and did not realize last minute that my suit no longer fit, it was too tight but I loved that suit. Sure I could have gone out and got me another suit but I decided to take my suit to Amy at Gateway Cleaners and have her see what she could do. After telling her my situation she was able to let out the waist and alter the jacket to make it more loose. Her alteration skills are amazing and she was able to do magic with my suit. Amy saved the day and had it custom tailored to me. Great skills and great service! I will definitely be bringing all my alterations here and definitely recommend anyone who needs anything altered to take it to Amy! read more

I had a pair of pants and dress shirt dry cleaned here and the moment I put the pants on I had a immediate allergic reaction and it's been 2 hours and I'm still feeling the effects. It's almost like having hives where your neck feels funny and my face is flushed. Not sure what chemicals are being used but I wouldn't suggest getting your clothes dry cleaned there. Do not go up this cleaner. I had 3 jackets and 3 dresses with no stains or special requests and they charged $112 which equates to almost $20 a piece. The lady at the front always says the owners set the prices....a total scam. I support local businesses but not when they are ripping off the public. read more

Totally destroyed my clothes. They charged me 20 dollars for a dress cleaning which I planned to wear for my Medical School Reunion and did Longitudinal holes in my organza dress ! I highly recommend NEVER GOING TO THIS DRYCLEANER. This is my first negative review ever, I usually try to stick with emphasizing the positive. But this was horrible. When I picked up my article of clothing, there were stains on it that were not on there when I dropped it off to be cleaned. I am intensely detail-oriented and had inspected the article of clothing before dropping it off so I know it was actually on them. I asked her to rectify the situation and repace the article of clothing. She started trying to emotionally manipulate me, asking me if I have immigrant parents (I do) and don't I know how hard she works (I do). Then she tried telling me she had a headache and couldn't deal with me. She tried to ignore me for several minutes but I just stood quietly at the front desk waiting for her. Then she insulted not only my parents, but also my looks and my integrity. It's interesting because when I first walked in, she told me she remembered me because I was pretty, but when I pointed out the stain she said you're not pretty, you're ugly (whaaaa?! How is that relevant or helpful or good business practice?). She also tried to point to the armpits of the outfit and say I had stained it with deodorant (which is not true bc I don't wear deodorant and definitely did not even sweat in this outfit the one time I wore it). Anyhow, she finally refunded the cost of getting it drycleaned - NOT the cost of the article of clothing. But get this, she paid it out in nickels and pennies, and tried to short change me three times. Then she followed me out to my car, tapping on the window, telling me how ugly I was. And turned around to the other lady in the parking lot and tried to tell her I was a horrible person. All because I pointed out that my clothing item had a stain that wasn't there before I turned it in to be drycleaned and asked that they replace it. This was truly the most bizarre and dehumanizing customer service experience I've ever had, I highly recommend NEVER GOING TO THIS DRYCLEANER. read more

I brought in a queen duvet cover with 2 pillow shams, at the time I dropped off the girl wrote down it would be $45.00. When I went to pick up, a different girl (with attitude) told me it was going to be $59.00 because the original quote didn't include the shams. I asked if they would honor the original quote and she said "no, they first girl didn't include the shams", I then said "so you would rather lose a customer over $14, she just said "I have to charge you for the shams". Of course the owner/manager wasn't there but if it were my business, I would give the only person working some leverage & customer service skills so as not to lose future business. There is so much competition in this area for dry cleaners and I have found another close by that has much better service. read more

Had to post a counter to the other review, as I've been using Gateway every week for years and have never had an issue. No lost or damaged items, they rush when I need it, everything clean and pressed, and customer service has always been quick and efficient. Wouldn't consider going anywhere else unless I moved. read more

This cleaners is amazing! I just recently moved to the area and gave them a try since its close to traders and majors. I was driving by and almost missed it. But I had some alterations that needed last minute for a business trip.With such short notice I was thinking i would just have to go to the mall and buy something for the trip. Once I came in they welcomed me and they were very accommodating. Not only did they get the alterations done in a day they also pressed them for me for FREE! Come on now that's GREAT SERVICE! After I came back from the trip I brought my cleaning and they remembered my name and felt special. This is now my go to dry cleaners! It truly is a diamond in the ruff, you may miss it but its right in front of the Starbucks, I highly recommend it. I'm going back for sure! read more

Things are fine with this business, until you have a problem...The owner Amy is very unwilling to do the right thing in the unfortunate event that a garment comes back damaged. I bought a brand new shirt that I took to Gateway to be laundered, prior to wearing it at a wedding. Wedding was in D.C., so I packed the shirt for the trip right after pick up (never took it out of the bag). When I took the shirt out of the bag for the wedding, it was damaged. There were 2 - inch and a half pulls in the material across the right front of the shirt that had been covered by the shirt sleeve in the bag. I was able to wear the shirt but had to keep my suit coat buttoned to cover the damaged shirt. Came home to Escondido and took the shirt to Amy (owner) explained that the shirt was new & had only been to the cleaner after purchase...Amy claimed this had never happened before in 25 years of business, but said if I brought in the receipt she would reimburse me for it. I said fine and returned in 2 days to pickup clothesI dropped off and to give her the receipt at an agreed to time. Amy was not there and I was told to come back in the morning - Amy would be there to open the business at 8 am. I showed up at 8:15 and Amy was not there...I was told she was at the other cleaners (nearby) so I went there and found Amy. She again argued with me about the shirt & said it was a 'flawed' shirt & poorly made (Joseph Abboud 100% Egyptian cotton is not a poorly made shirt!). Amy then told me to come back after 1pm, she had no cash and would need to go to the bank. I returned at 1 pm and Amy again was not there...I was told she was at the other site, so I went to the other cleaner and Amy again refused to make good on her offer to reimburse based on showing her my receipt. Finally (after 4 or 5 attempts) I said this was just turning into a nightmare and I would take my business elsewhere, since she was not going to do the right thing and stand behind her work or honor her claim to reimburse base on my recent receipt for the shirt. I thanked her for her years of service and said I would be writing this review on Yelp to let others know that she did not treat a long time customer well & will give you the complete run around if you ever have a problem...if you are looking for an business owner who stands behind their work (good or bad) Amy is not the person to trust...please beware. read more
