HARD PASS if your in the Topeka area and looking to buy/trade mtg. While the guys are knowledgeable, the only complaint I have is their trade percentage = 50%. Insane. I feel so bad for the people of Topeka. Make the drive to KC or Omaha, where rates at industry standard. read more

Updating my review: I stopped my pull here years ago. I used to travel for work, and my wife would pick up my comics. I finally got back and saw they were charging her $5, $10, and $20 for an A cover or B cover comic I've had on my pull for years instead of cover price. I still have the sticker on the bag for each issue. I can understand that the issue was a ratio, one in store, etc, but they weren't. I used to think they were the only comic store available at the time. I found that Vintage Stock ordered comics and even got a discount on the A/B covers. Now there are other comic shops in town. If they become the only one again, I'll order online instead. read more

Person working behind the counter was extremely rude. When a child is paying for their purchase and asks if what they are handing them is a certain coin to complete there purchase with. There is no need to reply with "the last time I checked it was". Uncalled for and unnecessary. Shame on you. read more

The only place where I buy my comics. It's a fun place to talk comics, movies, games and anything and everything else. They have a wide selection of comics - current and back issues as well as trade paperbacks. I often come across something new and really cool just by browsing. The people working always have good suggestions. They also deal in card games and role-playing games and often have tournaments on a weekly or monthly basis. I just wish they were closer. The only bad thing about that is me spending more. read more

I live @ the Gatekeeper every Saturday afternoon. I blame them for the large hole in my portfolio. Some people invest in stocks & others bonds but my investments have been through comic books & gaming supplies. Without the Gatekeeper I wouldn't have a local place to play card games. My husband and I go there frequently for comics and games. Most of the people who work there are pretty nice and helpful, but avoid the new (and only, I believe) girl who works there. Nothing against girls working in game stores, mind you, she just is bad at her job. The first time we went in while she was working, she just blankly stared at us while we walked into the back room. It was kind of strange, especially since most other employees are friendly. Later on, we went up to pay at the counter and she ignored us for a good 5-6 minutes, talking to her friend. When she did ring us out, it was like he had killed her puppy to get her to do her job. Also, my husband and I called in to get a price check on gaming mats. They don't stock them in store, so we had to make sure with shipping that is wouldn't be too expensive. It took two tries to explain what we wanted. After this the girl said they didn't have that catalog, without checking. She said she'd take our number and they would call back after she talked to her boss. Fast forward nearly 2 weeks and we hadn't heard a peep. We were dreading calling back, lest we have to deal with the same woman, and had just decided to buy the darn thing online. That day, we get a call from GateKeeper. It was another associate, who is always really nice and helpful. He said that the girl had either asked the boss, or just got off her butt and looked and found the price. She then left a note saying we should be called THAT day. To be clear, she left a note on the day that we called, stating that we were to be called back on a price check nearly 2 weeks later. This associate apologized several times and didn't know what the heck had happened. We did end up ordering the mat from him, since we like to spport local businesses. So, please support them, but if the girl is at thecounter, just turn and walk out. Not worth your time. read more
