I have to do a huge shout out to management for having such an upbeat, professional, great sense of humor, and customer centered team member as Theo. I listened to him with other guests, he was bubbly, friendly outgoing, and made them feel they were the most important person that walked in that door. This carried over when he helped me and when he helped the person behind me. Management should be very impressed at how well Theo represents gate! This is an old Gate store location; I remember trying to steal hot dogs from here 20 years ago. It was after a long day of daydrinking and Hooter's. ha! The location of this store is in front of Gate Headquarters, so it has no choice but to be top notch. The store has all your convenience store essentials like blunt wrappers, malt liquor, condoms, lottery tickets, etc. They also sell gasoline; the price is in line with the other stores around. So if you looking at being intoxicated, fueling up your car, or just need a can of gas for other reasons then Gate is for you. This is also listed as the corporate address for Gate Petroleum and my review is for the incredibly unprofessional customer service team as well as the main switchboard operator. I have never dealt with a group of such careless people who protect each other from posh jobs where they don't actually have to do any work. The corporate switchboard operator is the most unprofessional telephone operator with whom I've ever interacted. And the customer service team has no ability to resolve any issues, and instead, after problems languish for years, they get upset because they are completely unable to handle leaving the most basic customer service issues. I would gladly speak with a member of the executive leadership team to share my regular experience with a handful of your locations, which I can prove that I visit more frequently than any of your employees. What a great Gate! I can't believe I'm actually giving a gas station/convenience store 5 stars, but they deserve it! The store is huge, organized, clean (with clean restrooms also), and has friendly employees. You have your usual like beer, cigs, sodas, ice, and snacks, but you'll also find things like bottles of wine and even fresh fruit. I was surprised to find such a vast array of hot food items like nachos (add chili and/or cheese), taquitos (many different types), hot dogs (many different types of dogs, they even have brats), and tamales (beef and chicken). Hubby and I did some serious chowing down on the tamales ($1.49 each). They are seriously as good as I've had at any restaurant (shocker)! There's an area against one of the windows with a long table and chairs. Good idea since they have so many hot food items. People could easily come in here and have lunch (for cheap). Gas prices are in the same range as other gas stations in the area and they have a lot of pumps. This area is also kept clean. I like that it's a large area too. Cars aren't piled right on top of each other. You actually have room to move around your entire vehicle and room to walk without worrying if someone is going to hit you. It's my understanding this is Gate's Flagship Store.... and what a great store it is! read more

Well guys, I really wish I was making this up. I really like this place, the cashiers are always friendly, the facility is always clean. BUT today (4/30/20) I witnessed with my own two eyes a gentleman wearing gloves and a face mask (good idea since we are in the middle of a pandemic) enter the men's restroom, proceed to use the urinal, still with gloves on and then he walked right out of there AND walked into the kitchen area!!!! Yes you read that right. I wish I would've confronted him, I wish I would've at least gotten a name but he was a tall, skinny African American guy. I will more likely continue to use the facility and buy items there BUT will never buy anything cooked in that kitchen. Totally disgusted by that guys actions. read more

I must say compared to all the 1,000's of gas stations I have been too in the U.S.A. Gate overall is the best! Not perfect always in some Gate somewhere the personnel are somewhat challenged people, but compared to the wrest they are the best overall all! This was my first time that I went inside since they remodeled. I am extremely impressed with the remodel it's very user-friendly and also at 7:15 in the morning they were fully staffed and I did not have to wait to check out. The young lady that checked me out was extremely cheerful and polite. I also stop for petrol in the machine did not give me a receipt but the young lady who checked me out noticed that I walked from the pump and asked me if I wanted the receipt as well so extremely extremely pleased and impressed with this location. read more

Gate Gas Station #1232 at Durbin Pavilion in Jacksonville put $375 in pending charges on my card because their pump failed to recognize my Vystar card. This was an issue at Gate as my card worked both before and after. Gate's corporate office admitted there was a technical issue at the pump that caused my card not to be recognized. I was unable to pump any gas. Even so, Gate placed $375 in pending charges on my card. My bank reports the charge will be reflected on my available balance for 4 calendar days. Having so much money on hold could easily result in overdraft fees for many people. Worse, the pending charges could leave some people with no available funds for 4 calendar days. No business should be able to put any funds on hold if their machines are unable to accept your card and no sale is made. To add insult to injury, when I called the Gate gas station at the Pavilion at Durbin Park, the manager said (1) the fault is mine because I'm the one who used my card at their pump and (2) the fault is also the bank's as the bank is the one who is placing the funds on hold. Obviously, both explanations are patently false. It is Gate who is placing hundreds of dollars in holds for transactions that never go through to sale. My local Vystar reports they get at least four people a day coming into the bank with the same problem so this is a known and continuing issue. I own a small business and I assure you I would not be able to place hundreds of dollars in pending charges on a customer's credit card if they never even used my services. What makes gas stations so special and unique that they have the right to charge your card hundreds of dollars when there is no sale of goods whatsoever? This scammy practice needs to be legislated out of existence. read more

Great location as far as Gas Stations go! Staff is always polite although sometimes short handed with only 1 person at the register when the other is stocking the cooler, taking trash out or cleaning pump area outside. All and All I return for drinks and 2 for $1 Bananas! read more

This is the main office store. I have been going here for maybe 25 years or so. It used to be the ugliest store that they owned. Now it's open and is the trend setter for Gate Petro. They have all the new products and the new designs first. After all the bosses are right behind this store. read more

I used to like going to Gate (even though the Hess/Speedway was closer to my home) even though their prices on gas was on the high side, they used to offer free air for inflating your tires for decades. Now they are no different aside from charging higher at the pump than their competitors. You are better off going to 7-11 or Daily's for a better value and cleaner place. For example Found a Chevron at the beaches offering the ethanol-free gas for 3.69/gal. vs the 3.99/gal. at this location. read more

Don't work with the corporate office, especially the tax department. I was hired on and the manager was really excited to hire me, and I made it crystal clear I had no experience with taxes. They claimed they were laid back, patient, willing to train and that they knew there was a huge learning curve with the position. The manager even wrote me a glowing email that HR even got a copy of, and then I was fired for "not being a good fit" after only 2 1/2 months. They told me that it was the nature of the position that I would learn something, then forget it the next day and need to be reminded/go back over notes, but me not remembering everything was another reason they gave for firing me. I took 14 pages -typed - of notes. I looked them over every day. The women in that department are two-faced pricks; nice to people's faces, then badmouthing them behind their backs. Don't bother working here. I even wrote my boss's boss and the company president an email and discussed my concerns about the department culture with an HR rep, who turned around and told my boss what I had said since they are friends. Don't trust Gate. They claim to care about their employees, but I know otherwise. My benefits even expired at midnight the day I was fired. They don't take care of their people. read more
