I've had a Viking G5 series gate opener from Gate Openers Direct on my gate for 10 years now. 5 years go I had to replace one of the external keypads due to vehicle damage. Last week the opener began having difficulty opening upon command. I called Jay, explained what it was and wasn't doing, and he immediately gave me the first option of replacing the 12 volt batteries in the backup system on the control board. of course, it worked and now my opener is operational again. I went in to Gate Openers Direct thinking that I needed a new plug-in receiver after replacing my Nice Apollo 1050 control that was damaged in a storm with multiple power surges. My landscaper accidentally cut the power line from my gate opener to the control box mounted on my fence. I called Jacob at Gate Openers Direct who told me that the manufacturer did not offer a replacement cable for this unit, but he asked me to bring the unit to him to look at. He was able to provide a home-made replacement for the cable, and installed it in the unit in about an hour. I think Jacob is a magician! I highly recommend these folks! read more

Worst experience of my life. Yes, that's a bold statement. $2000 down the drain. I was sold a FAAC hydraulic arm for my swing gate which replaced my lift master. He said it was the best for the money. He had his recommended installer JG Iron install it. It worked for ONE day. I called JG Iron to come and fix it with no response for two weeks. Gave up on JG Iron and filed with the BBB and they still have not responded to my claim. Called Gate Openers Direct, which stated: "Sorry we are wholesalers, you will need an installer to fix it." Yeah well your installers are dead beats. "Oh sorry to hear that, Call this other guy". I did and he came out and I had to pay him $150 for the service call!!! Broke the next day. Came out a week later and "adjusted it" and it broke the next day. 3 months later and guess what. Still broke! Getting another lift master installed by another company who actually stands by what they sell. Thanks for nothing you thieves!!!! That includes you and your installers!!! Update: Regardless of your comment two things happened. 1. Your representative stated he couldn't help and that I had to get with your installer. 2. The installer "Iron Fence" came two times, couldn't fix it then completely stopped responding at which time I had your other installer Robert come twice and couldn't fix it. Try again.... BTW. My liftmaster has been working flawlessly the past year on the same power line which makes your argument void. read more

They sold me a transformer that didn't work. It happens. Electrician identified the problem was with transformer and spoke to Gate Openers Direct who said to bring in the transformer for a no problem swap out. When I arrived the owner Jay said that his employee wouldn't have said that and the employee was available to check the next business day. Jay also said "Employees, what can you do?"...I guess my opinion is he should hire better employees. Jay said there was no volt meter in the office to check the transformer and I'd have to come back on next business day for it to be tested then. So the employees take home the volt meters? Sounds like Jay was too lazy to check it himself. Of course when tested the transformer was not working and I had to come back in for the swap out. I didn't appreciate my time being wasted. No apology for inconvenience. read more

This group of people are the best at what they do. Jay definitely knows his products and Jacob appears to be the electronics wizard with the equipment. Both of these individuals must have graduated with high honors from "Customer Service School" before coming to work here. I am a consumer who after buying and installing a gate opener for my home, was so impressed with their knowledge and helpful attitude, I went back and purchased another opener system for my sister-in-law who lives in Brazos county. I have a very deep construction background and understand simple rules to follow installation instructions, however there were some things I was not sure about so I called for technical help with both installations. I received nothing short of exemplary service from Jay and Jacob from the four calls I made. Most people would be "put out" by the simple questions I asked but not these guys. They were very understanding and helpful each time able to answer the questions immediately without needing to reference any written material. One of my calls would not have necessary if I would have only read the instructions completely (as noted), however they answered the question with complete professionalism. These people are great to work with and know their business and their products very well.
