Just had my second upper and lower scopes with Dr. Nightengale at Tulsa Endo. They are very…read moreefficient, but don't make you feel rushed. The front desk person is a MACHINE at getting your paperwork and answering questions from nervous and confused folks. The waiting room is always full, but not SRO. When they called me back, they got right to it, but didn't make me feel rushed. They were a little behind (no pun intended) and seemed to be helping each other to keep things moving. I got to the procedure room about 30 minutes after my appointment time, but I bet that was only 15 minutes late since you would normally have some intake time anyway. They did a good timeout (to verify who I was and what they were going to do) and I got positioned and was out like a light. I woke up in recovery and they got me unhooked and into a wheelchair very efficiently, again without rushing. I was freezing (probably anesthetic reaction) so they got me some warm blankets. I like that they take you to a consult room so you (and your driver, if you wish) can hear your discharge instructions and results and ask questions. This went great with both the nurse and doctor. They then let the driver bring the car to a reserved loading area and wheel you right to the car door. If you need to have a scope, due to age, symptoms or family history, do not be afraid or embarrassed. I'm not that modest, but everyone is very respectful and careful to make you feel comfortable. Your backside isn't that special; the literally see them every day and it's so much easier to catch a polyp than to get treated for cancer. The only suggestion I have for the center is to have more convenient restrooms. It's not their fault, but if you follow the prep instructions exactly, you're probably not done by the time you are supposed to get to the office. I moved mine up an hour this time and was OK. But last time, I had to use the building toilet a couple of times (thankfully, they were open) and once on the way to holding. Overall, this was the best prep and procedure of the half dozen or so I've had. Every so often (like this time), they remove a couple of polyps. I put this off longer than I should have because I was worried about the cost. I've been pleasantly surprised about that, so far, and I'm glad I sucked it up and got it done before the polyps got bad. I'm waiting on the path report, but expect them to be OK.

I have to say this place is amazing! Efficiency with compassion…read more On procedure day, everyone I came into contact with was kind and professional, from the sweet lady at reception to the lady who wheeled me out to the car. They were also quick and efficient. The waiting area has a big screen so the driver can keep tabs of the status of your procedure (you are given a number), or they can wait in the car and receive a phone call. Dr Fillmore visited me before the procedure, explained things again, and asked if I had any questions. All the staff worked well together and each handover was smooth and easy. They all knew exactly what they and everyone else were doing, and I was seriously impressed. I'm thankful I don't remember anything about the procedure itself, but afterwards I was met with a kind man who went through the results, and gave me a professional looking folder with all the information neatly filed. I didn't have any pain or discomfort following both procedures either. All-in-all, it was a quick, efficient and painless procedure.

While I was with the nurses preparing for the procedure, Dr. Briggs walked in and asked, "How are the hiccups, are they getting any better?" I told him no. His response was, "Sounds like you're going to have to deal with that the rest of your life." In that moment, my heart sank. I felt like all hope had been ripped away from me. I held back tears in the room, but inside I was completely shattered. The thought that I might have to live the rest of my life like this was unbearable. After the procedure, I sat in my car and broke down, sobbing from the devastation of his words. But deep down, I know this isn't the end of my story. With the right doctor and God's will, there is hope. I will never return here again.

Suffice to say it doesn't matter what you have to say as a patient they are going to do as they…read moredamn well please. On top of the copious amount of redundancies in paperwork and questions, from the pre screening calls to today's repeat paperwork. I made it abundantly clear to the woman at the front desk that I would prefer to be the patient who was spoken to about my results, not my husband. She acknowledged that with a yes ok. That clearly didn't sink in because as soon as I was brought back to the staging area I was then asked again if I wanted my husband to be communicated to and then heckled about it. Why is a polite no, no thank you just completely disregarded? At this point I gave up and said do whatever you want, you're going to anyway. The next alarming part was me being told I can wear my bra and shirt under my gown into an operating room! Like ok we no longer care about potential outside contaminates just because it's a colonoscopy? I'm frustrated because ultimately no one is listening and no one cares. To boot I explain my severe allergy a plethora of times only to be met with adhesives that I'm allergic to which I immediately removed. Then to be treated like a damn child by the doctor was the icing on the cake. I had adjusted the pillow the way I wanted it for me, but he just insisted on fixing it and then telling me "isn't that better". I did my level best to just be nice but behaviors like this made it very difficult for me to not just snap and walk out. Following the procedure I expected a brief note on findings NOPE! Those were only expressed to my husband, who coincidentally was asked about my previous procedures. Imagine my complete and total lack of surprise that he didn't know exactly what and when. If ONLY they had asked me, but perhaps since he's a man he knows more than I do about me and my care. I can also tell you they were not amused that I disconnected myself from the IV, and monitoring equipment got myself dressed and attempted to walk out. I mean really what else was I waiting for? I think if I had tried any harder to get to the door by myself the medical assistant would have shoved me into the chair to wheel me to the door. Thankfully this is over and I don't have to go back there. I have been reminded again that unless I'm carrying my own limb or bleeding out my eyeballs, I'm good and don't need the medical system.
