So yesterday (10/3/2012) Keller had it's first pop-up food truck event. I was very happy to catch wind of it, for I'm usually late to the party when it comes to events. In attendance were Gastro Bomber and So-Cal Tacos (http://www.yelp.com/biz/so-cal-tacos-fort-worth). My plan was to order something from each truck, one as a way to show support, and two, well because I'm a glutton and wanted to try both. I looked over both menus and came to a decision. From GB it was going to be the Chicken and Waffle Sandwich. I've been wanting C&Ws forever, from anywhere, and tonight was finally my night to try this item. The first thing to point out is it was not really a "sandwich" unless you want to stretch it and call it an open-faced sandwich. Second, it was not a full-sized waffle, but rather something rectangular. It consisted of three pieces of boneless chicken and a drizzle of maple syrup. Cost, $8. It was very good. The chicken was tender and the waffle delicious. What I noticed, and confirmed, is that there is corn meal in the waffle batter. I was told this is the Southern twist they like to add to there food. It was like Belgian cornbread. Yummy! Now I will add my wife's comment, which seem to be true of all food trucks, is that the cost to quantity ratio seems to be a little high. Three large tenders on essentially half a waffle for 8 bucks seems a bit much. Now I came up with a new take on the cost and that is this; One, your getting to try something new and somewhat unique. Two, and here's the kicker, your bottom line cost is perhaps a bit less than if you sat down in a restaurant. If tips are expected at food trucks, I did not see any obvious vessel for the cash to go in. You can bring your own drinks, and thus your bottom line for a unique dining experience really is not bad. I for one am glad this came together. I was excited when I learned that Keller might be getting it's own food truck park, and was disappointed when I learned the plans were not approved. Somehow I think Keller's loss will be Roanoke's gain (Actually Corina T., aka the "shark lady", who I met at this event said that). From this point forward I will keep track of food trucks coming to Keller, and there are definitely a few more items on GB's menu I would like to try (Irish Nachos, Shepherd's Pie Croquettes, Fish and Chips, Picanha Sandwich). These guys have gold in their hands and the best part? They know it. That chicken sandwich is enough to make you question your religion. (might I add... if you're currently not religious, you will be after it) They're hilarious, they REMEMBER you when you come back to their truck, they are worth going to every-single-time you see them at one of our food truck parks. Great googly moogly, their food is delicious! I am a pig toe fanatic! (Pig toes = tater tot + jalapeño wrapped in bacon.) Seriously delicious and affordable. I've also had the fried green tomato sandwich and it is delightful. Every part of it is tasty; the tomatoes are thick and fresh, their breading has excellent flavor, the herbed goat cheese is just the right amount of tart and the bacon and baguette round it out to an all out party for your mouth. All of the guys who work on this truck are real sweethearts. I'm glad to eat there every chance I get and wish them all the success in the world. Go now. You're missing out. Food Truck Awesomeness!!!! Gastro Bomber has got an amazing menu with real food that you just have to have. They support a great cause, our soldiers and are very proud of it. Great guys work the truck and know their way around a griddle and fryer. We tried Gastro Bomber out while they were at the Fort Worth Food Park and I'll be following them now to get a chance to have it again. I ordered the Bad Mother Trucker, which was the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. They served it on top of a bed of delicious seasoned fries. Worth every card I took in that day. My first time visiting GB was good, my second even better! The "Fried Chicken Napalm" sandwich is soooooo good! Tried their jalapeno bacon wrapped tater tots & their "Bad Mother Trucker" sandwich as well I would recommend everyone try this place! AND, the guys are so nice. read more

I previously Yelp bragged on this truck, but like most restaurants, you're going to have highs and lows. This was a low. First let me say that the owner and food at GB is fantastic. Everything tastes very good. The best item on their menu was the fish and chips, yet strangely it's no longer available?! Had the kids with me and ordered the grilled cheese and grilled ham and cheese. Was disappointed to find one little thin slice of ham, and one thin slice of cheese.....were they running low? It's especially disappointing when you see folks walking away with the crispy chicken sandwich so tall it takes 2 people to carry it! Where's my meat?! Same price north of $9......can't understand why our sandwiches were so weak. Again, everything tastes great, but for the price and long wait, I expect the same stacked sandwich. read more

Went to food park in Fort Worth in search of some good grub. Tough decision because of all the great food choices, but I went with the Big Mother Trucker. It was very hot so it seemed like the food took a minute, but when it came out the presentation alone made me forget where I was at and that I had been waiting in the hotness. It felt great walking passed the crowds with this monstrosity knowing everyone was jealous of my decision. There was a small piece of chicken hanging off the sandwich so I ripped it off and gave it a try. Phenomenal! Seasoned great and fried to a slightly crunchy yet greasy perfection. The sandwich itself consisted of an all american fried chicken breast that was topped withy a creamy herb/garlic slaw, strips of bacon, cheddar cheese and two slices of what seemed to be a toasted artisan loaf. It was so good I almost couldn't bring myself to share, but food that good must be shared so everyone knows what they missed out on. Every part of the sandwich worked together the melted cheddar blocked any sauce or grease preventing the bread from becoming soggy so it was crunchy with every bite. The fries were also cooked very well being crunchy on the outside and deliciously creamy texture on the inside. Fries could have used a touch more seasoning, but that is not a complaint as I know salt is not for everyone. This truck is a must try and I will be back for more Bomber creations in the near future!! read more
