It's not easy finding someone to work on our Ram Promaster travel van. Gary's said no problem. Our brake light was on while a long trip with a message that the pads needed servicing. Dave (from Gary's) took care of me. Turns out it was only a sensor but he did notice the bolts holding the transmission were loose. He took off that and a few other items. I'm truly appreciative of his honesty that a brake job was unnecessary. I'll definitely be using Gary's in the future. read more

Knowledgeable. Good service and efficient. Unappreciated them taking my car in from a tow-in and quickly performing diagnostics. Gave an Accurate estimate and didn't try to upsell me on a bunch of extras. Thanks! read more

Honest and fair with auto services took in my ford f150 for a diagnostic check of a noise and mike was great didn't fix the issue but like I said was fair and honest. And very friendly read more

Stop in yesterday to check on an oil change for my Class A Rv. Dave was able to get me in the 1st thing the next day. Dave was very personable and answered whatever questions I had. Price was reasonable and got it done in about an hour and half. Great alternative to the big Box Rv garages. read more

Gary's Auto-RV Brake - Auto Repair Near Me - Oceanside, California

Great service! I've been going here for years. Mike and Dave are always professional and take great care of my car

Excellent service from a small, independent business. I took the motorhome in for an oil change and give this place a 5 star in all regards.

I typically do my own brakes and rotors but didnt want to deal with it this weekend and immediately started looking for an honest place at a reasonable price. I looked over all of the different places here in oceanside to include the big name places and these guys won my business by their honesty, timeliness and competitive pricing. When needing something as important as the brakes on your car to work well, you shouldnt trust just anyone to do it, and these guys leave you feeling assured that you got the best service for the best deal. Honest and upfront about the work being done. They had several vintage cars being worked on at the time and that alone speaks volumes to me. People who restore cars dont trust just anyone to work o them but they had plenty of them taking stalls in their shop. Good guys, great price. Will be back. read more

This place is amazing! Unfortunately, we had several mechanics waste our time and money troubleshooting our 87' Toyota Sunrader before we found Gary's. They found the issue and fixed it in a couple hours AND their prices were very reasonabl! Won't be going anywhere else! read more

Simply the best. Honest, trustworthy, fair, and effective. Best auto shop I've been to.

Gary has always been a fair mechanic and lets you know about upcoming issues. Prices are reasonable and the parts are generally from NAPA auto store or O'Reilys nearby. They work on Saturdays but only for quick / emergencies that can be done in an hour or two. If you car is out of warranty and does not need to go to the dealer, I recommend this mechanic. The specialty is RV and off road repairs but they have worked on American and foreign cars for me for years. Try it you'll like it! read more

I was lucky enough to find Gary's on Google and I couldn't be happier! He was very pleasant to work with and even gave me a ride to and from work while my truck was in the shop. He definitely went above and beyond the call of duty. The pricing was more than fair and I didn't feel at all taken advantage of. I know exactly where I'll be going for ALL of my future automotive services. Gary... you just landed a life long customer! =) I would recomend this place to anyone and everyone!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! read more

I am extremely grateful for being recommended this shop. Starting at Ford and having them try and tell me my 2013 vehicle needed a new throttle body and other things replaced even when I had experienced no symptoms of issues, I asked around and ended up at Garys Rv. Long story short my issue was that my truck had run out of gas (due to parking on incline and not moving for a couple days my sensor was off) and needed some routine maintenance. I haven't had an issue since I picked it up and am extremely grateful that there are still businesses out there that aren't just out to sell you on unneeded things. read more

I can't say enough good things about Gary's. My family has been coming here for years but I just started the last year to bring my car here. Dave is honest and goes the extra mile. As a single woman it's hard to find people to trust to do repair work and Dave is trustworthy! I highly recommend bringing your vehicle here!! read more

If you are looking for an old school mechanic, one who will go the extra mile for you, go to Gary's. He will give his honest opinion on what your vehicle needs, and a good price for the work needed. He explains what is needed, and will do his best to get the job done as quick as possible, but correctly too. He is a mechanic you can trust. read more

Solid work. Good price. Quick and nice. Fit me in on my schedule. Dave is the man to see.

I'm a driveway mechanic and like to work on my cars myself, so I was reluctant to go to any mechanic at all really. A few months ago I needed to get my brake drums turned and these guys did it perfectly and at the going market rate at the time which was $30 for both drums. Good deal! This morning I went in to have Gary do a smoke check, thinking I had a vacuum leak because my idle was too high. I've tried all kinds of things to fix it, everything from the factory service manual etc, but nothing has brought this idle down. One of his techs came out and was able to figure out the problem with some insane 'car whisperer' stuff and a screwdriver, right there while I was standing there. He got the idle right where it was supposed to be just by listening to the sound of it. I am really impressed. These are old-school, experienced and cool mechanics. Highly recommended. read more

This place is amazing. I take my motor home for service and just wait. They get me in and out in no time. Price is exceptional and guys are nice. Definitely recommend, beats the heck out of La Mesa where you wait for months!! read more

Took my SUV here to fix my breaks and check engine light. Mike took a look at my wheels while my family and I sat at a table and in less then 20 minutes he was done. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars so this makes me an easy target for mechanics. But Mike was so honest !! He told me my breaks were fine and the light was on because of a loose gas cap. All this free of charge and out just before my baby started getting fussy. Other places I would have probably dropped $300 plus and not even fixed the problem! All the mechanics were very nice as well, definitely taking all my sick cars here:) read more

Wow! We were so impressed by Gary's customer service. I drove in for a quick estimate to have my back breaks done on my 95/96 Ford RV. Gary came right out and had a look. He was extremely personable and friendly. The best part was that his quote was extremely reasonable. Besides the quote for my breaks, he also provided me with extra information about my RV. I can tell that this guy knows his RV's and trucks. I will definitely be coming back. read more

This place was recommended to me by a firefighter friend of mine and I was told the owner was honest and a straight shooter. He was. Garys has been here for 50 years. He fixed both my car and my wifes with no issues. He gave me a cost breakdown, told me what was urgent and what could wait and then let me decide. The work was expensive so I called around and found Gary's was competitive. read more

I was recommended to Gary's Auto on Nextdoor.com. Gary was wonderful. He diagnosed the problem quickly, found me a rental car, arranged pick up and did not gouge me. I will go there again. It is great to find good honest people today... read more

I was nervous the first time I went to Gary's to have them check what seemed to be a problem with my transmission. Never knowing what to expect with a new mechanic, I called a good friend who is a mechanic, and based on the symptoms he told me what the problem most likely was, what the fix was, what else should be done. When I took it to Gary's I got the exact same diagnosis, and recommendations. A few days later everything was fiixed without a problem. 10+ years, and three vehicles later, I'm still going back. And my parents were happy with the work that was done on their RV when I sent them there. read more

Gary's is the best. My family has used Gary as our mechanic since 1983 when we moved to Oceanside. I am second generation in my family and I still use Gary over anyone else. Also if you need something done to your vehicle that is not performed at his shop he will refer you to another local business who will take care of you because they all trust Gary. He is honest and up front about what needs to be done. His wife was also a local business owner for years in Oceanside and has a great reputation as well. People of this quality are getting harder to find. If you want it done right the first time, go see Gary. read more

Been going here for years and they always do good work. Very reasonable rates. Highly recommended A+++

This review has been a long time in the making. I've been going to Gary and Dave for over fifteen years. Too long a list of how many vehicles and kinds of repairs. Five stars pretty much says it all. read more

Always good service at a fair price - check them out !

This is an excellent and trustworthy auto shop. They fixed my car issues at a fair rate and the job was done well and efficiently. I would highly recommend anybody needing maintenance to go to this shop. They are very helpful and I would not hesitate to go back read more

I was getting ready for a trip in my motorhome when I discovered my battery was dead and needed to be replaced. I looked at doing it myself, but realized it was too big of a job. I called Gary's Auto-RV Services and explained to Dave that I needed the battery replaced that day, because I was leaving for Yosemite the following day. He said that he could squeeze me in (a first time customer) and get it done that day. He also ordered the battery right after the call so it would be there when I arrived, no credit card required. I had called around 11AM, and he had it done perfectly before 4PM the same day, and for a great price. I could not have been happier with the service these guys provided. I have found my new RV service center! read more

When you are on the road with a 20-year-old RV, things could go wrong. Stayed across the street at Paradise by the sea RV resort. Scheduled an oil change and lube job for early in the next morning, and fortunately our mechanic Dave went through the vehicle and checked the brakes. Both front disks had three cracks each in them and cracks in the pads as well. Dave and the owner Gary were very professional and courteous and knowledgeable and we had the vehicle back by mid afternoon , repaired and ready to continue our journey across the country. Wish they were near where I live, they would have my business. read more

Great service, fast and fair. Needed almost $800 in brake repairs. Gary's gave me a fair price, test drove my vehicle, and even topped off my oil and fixed a broken radio fuse just to be kind. These guys are a rare find. I'd recommend them to anyone for any repair! read more

I've taken my RV here twice for maintenance. Both times, Gary was extremely helpful, the work was done right and the prices were fair and as quoted. I would not hesitate to recommend Gary's RV to anyone. read more

Upon arriving in Oceanside for the coast to coast Race Across America bicycle race, our team's RV started acting up. This was not a stress that we needed. The reviews on Yelp steered us to Gary's and Gary Gibson did not disappoint. After clearing it with his other customers, he shuffled some jobs around to look at our RV the next morning. He and his ace mechanic, Mike McCabe, were able to quickly diagnose our RV's issue (clogged fuel filter) and got us going again in time for our team to start the race. The service and attention Gary and Mike provided was exceptional, as was their professionalism. The shop may be small, but these guys are HUGE. The reviews were accurate and I want to add our experience to the list. read more
