Check-in is always efficient and I have never had to wait more than ten minutes before being seen. I can only remember one appointment where things seem to lag. In the time that I've been going here, I have been seen by three different residents, all of whom have been great to work with and seemed genuinely concerned for my health. Communication of test results and billing via My UNC Chart is convenient and effective. The main downside that I can think of being a patient at this location is that you typically will only have the same doctor for a year or eighteen months before they move on.

You would come in and doctors would explain everything so that you understand and the wait was never long. Fast forward to Covid and this place has went to shit!!! All the great doctors left. You don't get responses on my chart for months at a time. When you call for help or questions they are so rude. You get the run around. I am so over this place. I will be finding a new primary doctor and a new place to get my medication. They make everything so hard and uncomfortable.

We drove our daughter the three hours from the Wilmington area if NC to Chapel Hill for scheduled surgery. Her check in time was 5:30am for the first surgery of the day. The bad news was this meant we had to hit the road by 2 am. The good news meant that we missed the rush hour traffic in the Raleigh-Dufham area. The first part of the hospital experience started with parking. There is a large parking garage with ample parking directly across from the hospital. Inside the garage it has good signage directing you to the correct cat walk to get you right to the front door of the hospital. 5 stars Entering the main entrance to the hospital was very organized. You first encountered a table with face masks for the taking and signage reminding face masks are required in the facility. The same table had a large pump bottle with hand sanitizer for use. After face masks are applied the patient and transportation members walk straight forward to other great signage that advises the patient to take a number and watch the television screen on the wall for their number to appear. This area had plentiful seating that was spread throughout the area so there was space among the groups of patients. 5 stars When the number appeared on the screen it advised the patient which registration booth to go to. You could tell this was a large capacity facility by the number of registration booths they had running at one time. Our daughter went and completed her registration without much difficulty as much of the information was taken prior to the day if surgery. It was mostly showing id, insurance card, and signing paperwork. At the end of the registration she was given a paper map with directions of how to get to the surgery location. She was also given paperwork to hand to the check in location. 5 stars After following the directions and hiking thru the hospital we easily located the surgery check in location. Once again this process was very organized so they could handle the massive number of patients seen. Apparently there are eleven surgical rooms that are routinely being used at any one time. After turning in the registration paperwork our daughter was given a paper to hand off to us. On one side it had a number assigned uniquely to her and the opposite side had a color system so you could follow your patient and see what stage of the surgical process they were in. As family we were instructed to find seats in this waiting area and watch the screen on the wall that would post our daughter's unique number and be shaded with the color coating system. We were also advised that during the prep time one person could go into the prep area and be with her. I did this when advised she was in the stage that a member could be with her. 5 stars In the prep area there was a white board that contained her name, current vitals, and the surgical team members that would be checking in with her. After each person made their contact the nurse in charge of her particular case would x off that the step was completed. Example, the surgical nurse, the anesthesiologist, the surgeon, etc. Once the seven or eight people were checked off she was advised she was ready to have surgery. 5 stars I proceeded out to the waiting room and joined my husband. Whoever came up with the color coded system was a genius. It was very reassuring to follow our daughter through the stages of surgery and recovery. At the end the surgeon and his resident located us in the waiting area and informed us about the surgery and what to expect afterwards. They were very thorough but easy to understand. I could understand why our daughter liked this doctor. 5 stars After this step we were both allowed to join our daughter until she was released. Due to the length of time in this process it was now lunch time so the staffing was minimal. It took a fair amount of time for the person to show up with the wheelchair to take her to the front door. The gentleman was very polite and stopped with our daughter at the pharmacy for her prescriptions. At this point my husband went to the garage to retrieve our vehicle and drive up to the front door to load our daughter and myself. After loading up we were ready to hit the road for the long trip back to her house. 5 stars Thanks for providing such a good experience for such a specialized procedure. I would NOT recommend Cannon for alone incidents that have happened in their lab, good employees have left, "traveler" Mgr issues not being addressed. I think she's the best doctor I've ever had…read more I am consistently impressed with the amount of time she is willing to spend listening to my problems, discussing solutions (both further medical options and things to do myself at home), and answering my questions. I've had a number of complicated/chronic/mystery health issues that have been ongoing, so there is often much to discuss and try to figure out. But Dr. Annis never makes me feel rushed. Also, it is very refreshing to have a physician that does not seem to work from default assumptions about my lifestyle. Finally, she is pragmatic and frank in her advice. She will tell you when you really must check something out further or treat it, but she will also tell you when you can most likely live with something with no ill effects. In an age when it seems many doctors want to pathologize and treat ANYTHING, this increases my trust in Dr. Annis greatly.

I am a Clinical Social Worker and I believe in giving people grace and trying to share positivity rather than focusing on the negativity. But the treatment I received simply trying to get help was disgusting. It started in March 2026 when my PCP sent a referral to the Gastroenterology Department for assistance with my unusual and very complex GI case. They did not accept the referral "due to an error with the referral," but never called me or my PCP to notify either of us of the error. Meanwhile, I was able to be seen at the Cleveland Clinic who unfortunately could not determine what is causing my severe abdominal pain after a life threatening episode of Severe Ischemic Colitis in December of 2025 (which has resulted in constant abdominal pain after eating and severe/debilitating pain if I eat fruits, vegetables, or meats - requiring two ED visits which were unhelpful). So, after the Cleveland Clinic discharged me in May, I reached out to CH Internal Medicine's GI Department to follow up on the March referral, which is when I learned they discarded it and had never called me or my PCP. So I made another appointment with my PCP on 5/17/26 and another referral was sent under "emergent" status (which typically requires a response in 24 hours). I hadn't heard anything by 5/21/26, so I again called their scheduling line. The scheduler (Jenny) was very nice and gently explained that they had decided not to see me. She could not provide a reason why they would not see me. I began sobbing and begging for their help, because no one has been able to help me in almost 6 months. I was then transferred to the Office Manager who was incredibly rude and had no empathy. After explaining my situation and lack of hope, crying throughout the call, she continued to be defiant and even went as far as saying "if you're really in that much pain you should go to the ED." I explained that I had been to the ED twice without any assistance, at which point she insinuated that I was lying when I said that the Duke GI physicians refused to see me as a consult in the ED. She said they had to see me if a consult was requested and I said that she could read my ED notes which clearly stated GI was consulted but declined to see me. She still did not care. She refused to offer any assistance and by implying that my pain was not severe, I lost my temper and cussed at her. I am NOT that kind of person - I am so ashamed of my behavior and have never been belligerent or rude to any healthcare provider. I work in healthcare myself, so I understand the difficulties workers face these days and it hurts my heart to have been pushed so far that I went violated my own values. I am still without any assistance and am so hopeless. I cannot understand how a medical practice could turn down someone (with health insurance) who was begging for help, without any valid reason (they could have said my needs were too complex, but to repeatedly lie, was horrible) or any recommendations on other providers who might have been able to help. I hope that no one who is suffering has to experience this kind of treatment by a healthcare professional. And I certainly will never go to any UNC facility after this experience.

[She was…read morereferred to me by a friend when I moved to Chapel Hill.] She is attentive, knowledgeable, genuinely accepting of everyone and a great communicator. I feel like she is my partner in my health and is always willing to work together to find a way that will work, even if it means referring me to someone outside the community she is used to working with so that my insurance will cover it. The office staff are terrific, and the others doctors I have seen in the practice, which admittedly is not very often, were also wonderful. You can't go wrong with these people. They will treat you well.

My therapist recommended them as a health at every size provider and I saw NP Norwood. She was really wonderful and explained things to me in a way that I had never heard them before as well as took the time to chat with me. Therefore, I am not keen to praise doctors. However, PAMF has a wonderful, smart, caring family doctor that I am compelled to recommend. Her name is Doctor Maggie Williams. Dr Williams is smart, dedicated, experienced, and caring. I have had some major medical issues which Dr. Williams expertly diagnosed and has been helping me resolve. My daughter has a medical issue that her pediatrician and gynecologist misdiagnosed but Dr Williams was quick to diagnose correctly. Dr Williams is conservative and logical in her approach to treatment. She listens and asks intelligent questions. She will order tests when appropriate and will refer patients to specialists both in and outside of PAMF. She will take the time to answer your questions and concerns. She really cares. Like I said, I am very skeptical of the medical profession but if you are looking for an excellent family doctor, then check out Dr. Williams.
