Second time coming physically to Carolina Conceptions, but it will not be my last. All of the staff from the front to the back are very nice and patient. They made me feel at ease with every step. This was the same with Dr. Park that I saw virtually twice for my consultation and follow up. Everyone wants to care and you can feel it. Minus one star for the blood pressure machine fiasco. I told one of the medical assistants to use a manual cuff as I always run high on the automatic cuff. And I was high and in some pain, so next time I will ask them to give me some time and take it manually. Also, I hope they upgrade their water fountain in the lobby--it kept spraying me in the face--smile. read more

After 11 separate visits to the clinic over a year, I NEVER met the practitioner who I had selected to be my doctor - and I drove 2+ hours to get to the clinic each time. I had a healthy, successful pregnancy from my very first IVF and 3 remaining genetically normal embryos remaining after I moved to the state. At my first implantation, the doctor asked about the gender (we had 2 males and 1 female remaining. We implanted the female). The doctor said "another girl? What are you going to tell your son one day?" Doctor, that's none of your business. That implantation ended in a miscarriage. For the next two [failed] implantations, my doctor added different medications saying "at this point, the studies are all voodoo, so why not try." She knows more than me so I trusted her, which I shouldn't have done. She tested my thyroid and gave me medication but never told me how important it is to take thyroid medication separate from other medicines. I realize she's not an endocrinologist, but if you prescribe it, you should give the warning. At one point I was taking over 11 pills and a shot. She also assumed that adding more estrogen was the answer and my levels were skyrocketing. Again, I'm not the doctor. As I said, both my implantations failed. I know that IVF is never a guarantee. And I don't completely fault the facility, however, in my journey to expand my family I feel like I wasted a year at Carolina Conceptions. New to the area, I thought it was my only option. I've been on this journey for over 3 years now with no encouraging results. Yet, I haven't gotten any diagnosis, but plenty of false hope and "positive statistics", which never applies to me. The worst part of each visit for me - and I am confident most women coming to those exam rooms feel similarly - it's baby pictures on all the walls. Every time I enter one of those rooms, seeing these makes me want to kill myself. Especially when I get another piece of bad news. How come you have signs not to wear any perfume, yet the strongest and worst trigger of all is on display in each exam room? This is so painful to look at. Many women who come to your office are in a very fragile mental state - can't you put something calming and neutral on the walls instead - like pictures of flowers or seashells maybe? read more

My journey started at the brink of Covid and even then it was been an amazing experience. I started out with one Doctor but got acquainted with 3 and they're all wonderful/knowledgeable doctors. If you prefer one doctor each visit maybe make that clear in the beginning? I indeed became pregnant on our first round of IVF and have "graduated." I don't know where to start... there is so much good in this practice! I would like to start with this - we were lucky enough to get pregnant thanks to Carolina Conceptions. Even if we had not been able to I would still be writing this review. My husband and I are both "challenged" in the fertility world. We brought our case to Dr. Park and he was ready to help us! He went through our options with us to make sure we were able to make the best choice for us (which turned out to be IVF due to low sperm count and low egg reserve). One of the things that impressed me most about Dr. Park is how much he really cared about how we felt, what we thought, and what our concerns were. I have never had a doctor reach out to me so fast after leaving a voicemail/email. A few times after I emailed him he actually followed up with a phone call! Talk about amazing service from a doctor! I have met briefly with the other doctors in the practice as well, they both seemed fantastic! The crew at the front of the office are outstanding, the nurses are too... Just an amazing staff and a very well run and very respectable practice. I have been a patient with them since 2009 after a bad experience with a local hospital. I've gone through 2 IVF cycles and several FET cycles. My family cannot be happier with all of our experiences with Carolina Conceptions. Through IVF, Carolina Conceptions helped us bring our first daughter into this world, and I am currently pregnant with #2! We cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Meyers and his entire staff. From the first meeting, you can tell that the doctors are very experienced and know exactly what they are doing. Dr. Meyer is refreshingly honest, direct, and quick to come up with an action plan. In addition, the nurses and administrative staff are a great compliment to the doctors as they too are extremely caring and sensitive, knowledgeable, and responsive to all questions that I called/emailed to them. They all know me by name and seemed to know where I was in the process of my treatments. This all makes a huge difference while going through an already difficult process. I have been seen in this office for two successful pregnancies. The staff are absolutely amazing. They are friendly and accommodating and take the time to get to know you. They even remembered my partner's name each time we came in. I saw Dr Park for both pregnancies and he was wonderful. I don't have enough good things to say about his practice. We did not have a good experience here. It was as if we were $$ rather than people. The doctor told me they had a 95% success rate (not true) and he did not even show up or let me know he would not be at our first transfer. A complete stranger did it. After two failed transfers we walked away feeling like we had been had by carnies. I am very happy to report that after visiting UNC fertility I am three months pregnant (for half the price and an amazing treatment) and feeling great. I would not recommend CC for anyone especially if you are over 40. read more

We were told an appointment was covered and that it was apart of the routine work up for being a donor. I made sure to ask and ask again if we would have any out of pocket costs for it. We were told no. The appointment involved a painful procedure of which they failed to tell me to prepare for. After leaving the exam room I ran down to the car to look for Ibuprofen while my hus checked out. When I came back my husband was arguing with the front desk receptionist. He was not happy to hear that we were expected to pay $950 for something we were told would be covered. The manager was sought for resolution and could not come hence, we were directed to a financial consultant. To make a very long story abbreviated, we were lied to. The financial consultant had no idea what was and was not covered with the donor cycle. Furthermore, she informed us we would have to pay MORE for the donor cycle than the regular cycle. We would be required to drive to Raleigh to be monitored and pay well over an additional $1600 to do this. We were told we may or may not have the option to work around this, she just didn't know. When we probed further we were riddled with other costs that we were never informed of. We were rushed, told the procedure would be THOUSANDS more than what we were told over the phone, and in the end we were given a choice to donate my eggs so that we could afford the procedure or to go somewhere else and repeat the whole process all over again. I felt like this was a repeated theme with this company and felt trapped. I was in pain and very emotional. I told the financial consultant that I didn't feel as if I could trust their company anymore. She was apologetic and looked as if she had no idea what to say because she knew that someone had messed up somewhere. She told me that I had to consider the "recipient of my eggs" and that she had already started the medications and process of preparing to receive my eggs. They had lied to me multiple times and my intuition was telling me that something wasn't right. However, they wanted me to continue on because someone else was now involved and I was expected to be selfless. We walked out of the office with me in tears and Jon ready to jump down someone's throat. We didn't pay the $950 and we didn't check out. We both needed a breath of fresh air and time to think.I can't tell you how frustrating and emotional the conversation was that we had while sitting in that parking lot. We felt devastated.I received an email from the doctor just minutes later: "I am sorry I didn't get to see you this am. I had a patient with known difficult inseminations and an embryo transfer. I spoke to Dr Park and he was concerned about your antral follicle count today on saline ultrasound. Your AMH was terrific but I think we need to verify that next week. Right now based on your antral follicle count the service workers discount may be your best option regardless of financial issues. We need to provide the recipient, like you, the best chance of conception. Dr Park said that you were traveling to Atlanta today. If next week you could get an AMH level drawn in Wilmington it might help us recommend the best treatment course and best dosing to get you pregnant I will be out of the country starting Saturday so please correspond with Dr Park in my ten day absence. Sincerely, Bill Meyer MD" Via an email we were told that we were no longer going to be donors. Mind you while sitting in the parking lot crying about already being treated like crap from these people. The doctor very kindly sent me an updated price list that was of course thousands of dollars more. I not so very kindly emailed him back and stated that I no longer require the use of their service. I also politely reminded him that the appointment that morning did not involve my ANF count so I had no idea where he was getting these numbers from. Up until this point, I was told I was an outstanding candidate for donation. The recipient had already chosen me and taken meds. There were multiple girls she could have chosen and she chose me, and they let her! I had to go through multiple tests, fill out all sorts of forms and questionnaires, and had accepted the fact that I was donating my eggs. My thought was "NOW you are going to make up a lie that my levels are low?" Needless to say that was the straw that broke the camels back. So we got in the car and left. I had to accept the fact that I could be possibly breaking someone's heart for making this decision. Let alone my husbands.But I simply had to stand up for myself at some point. read more

We interviewed 2 clinics in the Raleigh area. The facilities at Carolina Conceptions were nice enough but that's pretty much where the nice things we had to say end. Dr. Couchman was cold and not very sympathetic to our issues. She was not willing to discuss any other options other than IVF. I appreciate when someone is direct but she had a terrible bedside manner. We felt rushed at Carolina Conceptions and that we were just another number. We ended up choosing another clinic, and while it is going to cost us more money we believe that it's worth it to have compassionate care in this difficult time. read more

I won't recommend this place to anyone looking for fertility treatments! Our journey with them started earlier this year and in our 1st appointment without looking at my previous file, Dr. Coachman went straight to recommend IVF treatment. No tact and make me feel very uneasy however we decided to give them a chance. We decided to go with other methods before trying IVF and were told by their financial office that our insurance would cover it. When we started the 1st cycle of TIC, nobody at her office listened that my cycle it's not a 14 day such I should not be treated like if it was. They told me I was wrong, "that everyone has a 14 day cycle" and send me home on day 12 because my follicles were not big enough. The nurse told me "better luck next month". After another appointment in July/August, we decided to never go back! If they can't listen to what I have to say, this is definitely not the place for me. On top of everything, we get a bill from Carolina Conceptions that my insurance didn't cover none of the sonogram appointments. When I ask Kelly, the financial coordinator, the one that said that it cover this treatment method, she said it was my responsibility to check with my insurance and not theirs for giving me bad information. Definitely it went from bad to worse!!!!! read more

My husband and I traveled from the Boston area to use an egg donor, quite successfully. A year ago we were internet surfing and noted that Carolina Conceptions web page offered a sneak preview where we could review the photos and demographics of about 50 or so egg donors. We called the nurse, Michele, who could not have been more accommodating and gave us a password to review. During our cycle, my gynecologist performed the monitoring. Together with Dr. Meyer, they communicated frequently. The other physicians were great too! My due date is Halloween! We had to visit twice. My first meeting with Dr. Meyer, and then Dr. Couchman put the embryo (we decided on one) great results. Now, my husband and I are just arguing about baby names. read more

Carolina Conceptions - what a blessing for our family and our community! Because of their incredibly experienced and knowledgeable doctors and medical staff, and their incredibly kind, compassionate, and personable office staff, we welcomed our amazing son in 2014 after two unsuccessful IUI's and two cycles of IVF. We have nothing but shining words of recommendation for this practice. Infertility is awful. It's stressful, expensive, emotionally and physically draining, and it's just plain sad. At Carolina Conceptions, the doctors are continually educating themselves (and others) in emerging research in infertility. While it took us four treatments to finally get pregnant, the doctors and medical staff at CC were closely monitoring my body's response to each cycle and making changes each time to increase our cycle quality and odds of getting pregnant. The doctors and nurses were easy to reach and communicate with, both during and in between cycles. The financial coordinators were amazing at figuring out our insurance and communicating to us the costs for each procedure. At no point were we ever surprised by an expense or confused about a treatment option where we weren't able to get a prompt explanation or clarification. This might seem insignificant to some, but we always felt like the front desk staff were cognizant of and sensitive to where we were at in our treatment. For example, if we were coming in for an ultrasound to monitor ovarian response to fertility drugs, we were greeted with caring smiles and a shared hope for a good outcome. If we were coming in to discuss next steps after a failed cycle, we were greeted with compassion and concern. When we came in to confirm a positive pregnancy test (finally!) we were greeted with enthusiasm and joy. Again, this might not matter to some but it meant the world to us and we felt like the whole office was rooting for us. Another aspect of CC that makes us oh-so-proud is their involvement in helping to create families in the LGBT community. The fact that they have proudly proclaimed their support of equality and are striving to fulfill the dreams of ALL couples who wish to become parents is beyond awesome. We are back at CC regularly these days working on Baby # 2, and while we hope more than anything that we are successful ASAP, we know that we will miss the heck out of everyone in that office once we are pregnant and able to graduate to a "regular" OB-GYN. read more

Me and my wife came in scared and nervous, not knowing much about exactly how we will grow our family. CC made us feel welcome, answered all our questions, talked us through all the procedures, and gave us hope for our future. Everyone there makes you feel like family. Being a same sex couple, we were needing a place that made us feel comfortable. Morning appointments are so quick we didn't miss work. They are quick to respond to an email or phone call message. We had a scare at 7 weeks pregnant and they took us right in as soon as they opened the next morning, no questions asked, so that we can be seen right away. We left that appointment with happy tears knowing that everything was ok and a big hug from our favorite receptionist. We are happy to report that we are almost 20 weeks pregnant now and absolutely couldn't of done it without the help and knowledge and support of CC. We would 100% recommended them to anyone needing help to expand their family. We're excited to bring our baby girl in to meet everyone that helped bring her into this world. read more

I moved from Boston to Charlotte, NC. in 2015 and the fertility center in Boston recommended Carolina Conceptions. Although I was living in Charlotte, I made the drive to Raleigh (3 hours away) and I am so glad I did! I made an appointment with Dr. Meyer and I am happy to report, in June 2016, after one round of IVF, I gave birth to my son TJ. I could not be more grateful to the Doctors, and entire staff at Carolina Conceptions. The administrative staff was friendly and easy to speak with (I remember Steven very much and how great he was!). The Doctors, nurses, embryologists are incredibly professional and I felt very comfortable with all of them (although my doctor was Dr. Meyer, I also saw Dr. Couchman and Dr. Park). Trying to have a child is a very personal and INTENSE journey! I had a wonderful experience and absolutely recommend Carolina Conceptions! read more

Carolina Conceptions touts high success rates, but I would not recommend them. Their practice is run like a factory with little to no personalized care. The doctors show very little empathy or understanding. They focus purely on success rates and probabilities. Infertility is an incredibly emotional and difficult road and we really wanted to work with doctors that was engaged, understanding and creative in their approach to our specific situation. This was not the right practice for us. read more

My husband and I just recently went to CC. There were several wonderful things about their practice that we appreciated: 1. The front desk staff: we absolutely agree with previous comments about them being aware and sensitive to the issues' of the patients, 2. The nurses: They were very positive and kind. Advice nurses on the phone were also reassuring and thorough in their responses to my questions, 3. We only interacted with 2 of the 3 doctors and overall they seemed kind. Unfortunately, while they seemed kind, we didn't feel our primary doctor was as concerned with our issues as we were. We were referred to CC because of recurrent pregnancy loss (3 consecutive miscarriages in less than one year). While they boast wonderful IVF success rates we're not sure what kind of success rate they have for people like us. When we started with them they seemed very confident, recommending we start right away. He told us that in our initial meeting, before we even had blood work or other evaluations or procedures done! We were the ones asking about holding off since we had just dealt with the 3rd loss. We tried and got pregnant the first time and the doctor joked that it worked "without them doing anything". The thing is, we don't have trouble getting pregnant but keeping the babies. After the 7 week ultrasound the doctor released us back to our regular OB/GYN. We found this interesting since our most recent loss happened at 8 wks. That night I started bleeding. I went in the next morning (they were very good about getting us in) and the ultrasound showed a blood clot had formed and it was draining some, which explained the bleeding. The baby was fine! The doctor told us it wasn't ideal but women have blood clots and carry on with pregnancies fine. We were not given any specific directions about what to do from there and they still released us to our other OB/GYN. Two weeks later we went in for our 9 week ultrasound with our regular OB/GYN to find the baby didn't make it. The blood clot that formed had grown and likely separated the placenta from the uterus. We were shocked and totally unprepared for that. Looking back we wonder why CC didn't keep us longer and/or frequently monitor the blood clot instead of letting us wait two weeks to go to our other practice. We know CC is not to blame for the blood clot forming, however we do wish they tried to do whatever they could to help us instead of sending us off prematurely. P.S. We were also told everything was covered only to get several follow up bills beyond our co-pay. P.P.S. We were told we would be cottled, that they would hold our hand through the whole process, yet we didn't get much at all in terms of resources and information during early pregnancy. If you are seeking IVF I don't doubt that they are absolutely wonderful with that, but in terms of patient care regarding recurrent pregnancy loss we found them to be lacking. read more

Wonderful! Best fertility clinic and doctors around! Due to a bad experience with a well-known practice I had given up on pregnancy. Then I tried a 'prestigious' practice (in name only). I was extremely discouraged for years until my gynecologist told me that she had two kids by IVF at Carolina Conceptions. I decided reluctantly to try again. I would have to say third times a charm. I was skeptical going in. The office is very nice and quiet. Steven and Keisha at the front desk are so great. After just a few visits they addressed me by name when I came in. I felt like a friend instead of a cold waiting room patient. I went in to my initial appointment with the doctor thinking I'd get the same pressure to make the most expensive decision as fast as I could. Then I was shocked that Dr. Meyer didn't just want to take my money for IVF and make an appointment. He wanted to hear my history and why I thought I had fertility problems and how I wanted to go about treating this long-standing issue. He gave very knowledgeable advice and many options. But before we made any decision he had us meet with the financial department to talk over our insurance questions and of course financial obligations. I have met with both financial counselors there. They are both sweethearts. Extremely knowledgeable and very supportive. They told us about the cost of EVERY procedure we discussed. They gave us many suggestions for programs to help with the costs of all these procedures because initially the insurance I had covered nothing! Later when I changed insurance companies they knew exactly what would be paid for and what was not covered under my new policy. I have never had a surprise charge that I was not aware of. The finance department was supportive and encouraging. They each gave me their email address in case I had any questions later. (Which I did and they answered) Everyone at this clinic from the administrative assistants to the lab department to the nurses to the doctors to the embryologists have been so supportive and encouraging. I felt like they were as invested as I was in every procedure or treatment. I have had the same primary care physician for over 10 years and he has never allowed me to email him. And if I leave a voicemail am lucky if a nurse returns my call within a week. At Carolina Conceptions I was encouraged to communicate ANY question, concern, irrational fear . The nurses call or email back within a day. The doctors will also email you! I had an outpatient procedure with Dr. Meyer and Dr. Park as part of my decision to diagnosis my infertility. Dr. Meyer called me that night and the next day to check on me. He has also emailed me after other procedures just to see how I was feeling. I have also enjoyed being a patient of Dr. Park. He never leaves the room without answering ALL your questions. I have only met Dr. Couchman once, but was very kind and professional. I have had several types of treatments at CC. I have had rounds of medications to try the more 'natural' fertility route, I've had two surgeries, I've had 3 rounds of artificial insemination and finally one (successful) IVF procedure. They could have tried to push IVF on me from the beginning, but all the doctors have been supportive from day one to work at my pace. I wanted to exhaust every option before going to the most invasive treatment. On day one Dr. Meyer was supportive of what my husband and I wanted. I've never felt pressured or coerced. I've never felt like anyone was just 'in it for the money'. I've also never felt alone or uncared for. I felt at any time I could pick up the phone and call or email( my personal preference) and someone would answer quickly. And with every procedure I felt like the entire staff was in it with me. I thought all doctors and doctors offices were the same. After seven years I had almost given up and lost all hope. Thanks to the staff at Carolina Conceptions I was able to let myself emotionally begin to have hope and now I am blessed to be pregnant. They have all been wonderful and have been a meaningful part of my life. read more

Use this facility as your last resort. Yes, they have the expertise. However what they lack is everything else you expect in a doctor and their practice in regards to professionalism and confidentiality. Unless you are versed in medical procedures, you'll be in complete shock when they give you directions (too much too fast). I've had a few friends go here with unsuccessful results. Going through infertility issues is stressful enough, one should not have to endure poor communication. Be prepared to toss aside any morality or ethics you have in regards to procreation, if you can live with that, then maybe you won't have an issue with this place. read more

We had a phenomenal experience with the providers and their staff at Carolina Conceptions. From the first appointment I could see how dedicated they are to each individual patient. I communicated and worked with all three of the doctors over my time; as they make it extremely accessible to contact them by phone or email. From the front desk staff to the nurses and financial coordinators, everyone was wonderful to work with. My questions were always given their full and prompt attention (and I called/emailed everyone A LOT). Additionally, the staff was very accomodating to the distance I drove for each appointment (two hours). Carolina Conceptions guided me comfortably through my treatment and intervention. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice. As a very happy pregnant lady, I am forever grateful and thankful for this entire office. After a very painful long year of getting pregnant at the drop of the hat but finding staying pregnant very difficult, I decided it was time to figure out what the heck was going on. After two weeks, Dr Couchman and Dr Myers figured out the problem, a couple weeks later I had surgery, and a month after that I was pregnant with my healthy baby girl. The office is fast and efficient. You are seen quickly, never waiting more than a few minutes. Dr. Couchman was my main doctor and I was so very pleased with everything about her. She takes the time to explain everything to you, not make decisions for you. She draws diagrams and prints things for you. Her bedside manner is warm and empathetic, just what I like. Dr Myers did my surgery and called me personally several times to follow up. Now how often does that happen? And the office staff.... Oh how I love them. Even though I am so happy to be pregnant, I miss them deeply. They truly care for the patients. They share your happy and sad tears. With some scary spotting early on In this pregnancy, they got me in immediately for an ultrasound knowing how scary that was for me, and they celebrated with me when it turned out to be ok. All of the financials are reviewed with you before anything is done. They have a helpful insurance person that will figure all of that out for you, and they make every effort to get insurance to pay for what is needed. 5 stars is not enough for this office. read more

I just "graduated" from this practice today and will be moving on to a regular OB. I am so sad to leave, because I have never received such excellence in medical care as I did at Carolina Conceptions. Everyone I dealt with at the front desk was warm, encouraging, and all around thrilled for us when I became pregnant. All the nurses were helpful and knowledgeable about every part of the process. The financial department is great as well. Dr. Meyer was my primary Dr. and he was wonderful. He moved fast to get me pregnant. He personally called and emailed me various times during the process and he was always reachable immediately. I saw Dr. Park and Dr. Couchman for various procedures and they are also awesome. We did IVF with embryo biopsy and got pregnant on the first attempt. Highly recommend this practice! read more

Carolina Conceptions is the warmest practice I have ever been, and trust me, I have seen a lot of doctors. As an African American woman, it is difficult to find doctors that are not only comfortable with you, but have expertise in the health issues that make pregnancy difficult for Black women. I found each of the doctors to be caring and compassionate, balanced with a profound expertise. Every person on their staff, from the front desk, nurses, lab, embryologist and even accounting to be kind and very professional. Dr. Meyer gave honest appraisals of my possible pregnancy outcomes, and let me know that becoming a mother was do-able. Other places made me feel like I was broken and getting me pregnant would be a complex head-banging process (several suggested exploratory surgery first). Fertility treatment is not easy, but having competent professionals to guide you during this vulnerable time is necessary for managing stress. This place is not cheap, but I have found that you get what you pay for in terms of quality of service. When investigating fertility centers, I found that other places have you start with the minimal intervention, which is cheaper initially, but then will add treatments each time until you have a successful pregnancy. At Carolina Conceptions, they consider your risk factors and history, and throw all of the relevant medications and treatment the first time. So the first time cost is higher than other places, but in the end, I found the cost to be less in time and money. My IVF was successful on the first try. However, I would give a glowing referral even if my pregnancy attempt was unsuccessful. read more

I highly recommend thinking about conceiving babies in Carolina Conceptions. Thanks so much to Dr. Meyer and his great team. Now I got pregnant and is now moved to a regular OB. Dr. Meyer is very skilled. He identified the problems of my tubes, which failed to be found in another clinic, and suggested IVF instead of tubal sticky surgery. He also suggested me to do it quickly. My husband and I both believe that Dr. Myer's diagnoses and the act-quickly strategy is the reason that I can get pregnant so quickly. After all, I am almost 34 years old now. Dr. Meyer and his team are also very responsible. They patiently answered all my questions and responded to my email very quickly. I often have tons of questions. I remembered that my ovary was a little inactive to the ovulation-promoting shots. Dr. Meyer and Tammy adjusted the dose several times and controlled the time to retrieve very well, I think. So I can get an appropriate number of eggs.
