This one has been difficult to write…read more We've been taking our pups here for 5+ years and have nothing but positive remarks about the team, services and facility. About three weeks ago, we had to do the unimaginable. Our oldest pup had kidney failure and we had no choice but to let her go to sleep a final time. We called ahead so the team would be prepared. What I didn't expect was the professionalism, empathy and preparation we received. For starters, they have a private, separate entrance to accommodate the gravity of the situation. You enter into a room where you are given time to spend with your pup and family in these difficult final moments. Only when you're ready do you signal via a silent button for the vet and tech to come in. They explain the process and give you a little more time to say goodbye. After a final confirmation, the process begins and is over quickly. Throughout the process, the technician is stabilizing your pup and saying sweet words to them and us. We had the option to hold the pup ourselves but couldn't. When it was over, we were allowed to remain in the room by ourselves until we were ready to leave through the same private door. I thank Garden Oaks Veterinary Clinic for their support, compassion and their private accommodations. I can't think of a more respectful way to handle such a difficult situation. A final comment, they have after death care services available as well.

Our rescue foster was showing symptoms of a progressively accelerating URI so with one days notice, our rescue director found a way to have Lakeside fit him in. It took awhile for him to be seen but that was somewhat expected given the situation. The team took extra precautions not to infect the other animals (as respiratory infections are contagious) while also making our pup feel like a king instead of a walking infection. He had a few things going on health wise so it was nice to see them build him a plan, ask if we'd like to move forward after presenting the pricing, and send us a written plan to take home. They mentioned following up in a few days. All in all, this was a really positive experience.

They're located in Montrose, and for much of the pandemic, did not allow for folks to come in. Animals were strictly drop off only and this was only in practice until very recently. They were extremely diligent for every visit and still continue to be extremely good about appointment reminders and constant communication. I also believe it takes a certain cadence to be able to provide a thorough examination for any animal, and Dr. O definitely has this ability to work with them all. She has excellent bedside manner, is knowledgeable and very professional. Then there's the bill. It ultimately depends on the procedures done, they don't tend to run cheap even with insurance. Dog is needing surgical services and like any animal owner I'd like to know a range of pricing to understand where I'm going to land. Not an exact number but a nice range with a high degree of variability. That isn't the policy here. They immediately try to schedule an appt for a "consultation" and tell you you HAVE to pay a $50 deposit for this great honor, apparently. I told her before I commit to an appt I'm trying to see between them, blue pearl, and other facilities that are through our rescue network. She said verbatim "legally I cannot disclose pricing that's a conversation after you pay your deposit and have the consultation with your doctor". What? Are you kidding me? This tells me a few things, their pricing is astronomical and they try to lock you into surgery or lose your deposit. And they can't be trusted. If you have this shroud of secrecy around a range of pricing, then you aren't who I want to consider doing business with. These people have gotten too big for their britches. I'm looking elsewhere.
