I have been out of the sport for a little over 7 years. Moved out here from California a year ago and decided to pick up bowling again. I visited Mr Gary today and walked out with a Zen and a pair of comfortable bowling shoes. Mr Gary got my bowling ball drilled in a little less than an hour. The Zen fits perfect and rolls very well. Its quiet a drive to Copperfield for me, but its always worth the trip. He is the pro to go to if you want it done right. He also has the best selection of equipment in store. I started visiting Gary in the late 80's when he was still on 1960 and I've ended up using him ever since. I tried a fee other pro's in the area with mixed results. I remember his shop being off of 1960 and me being FASCINATED by the engraving machine. My dad has been coming to see Gary for YEARS and when it was time for me to get my first ball at 7 years old, who else would we go to! I still have that ball and when I started bowling again, I broke that sucker out and sure enough, I needed to get my finger holes and span widened a bit. Gary was at a tournament that day, so he was not there the day I went in to get my ball re-drilled, but Jared was great! With my dad's advice, my husband, brother, and I purchased brand new bowling balls that needed to be drilled for the first time and where did we go? All together now... GARY JAMES BOWLING SUPPLY! Gary was in the shop this time and drilled all of our balls, put in inserts, and made sure we were all happy before we left! We went ahead and bought some bowling shoes while we were there :) I mean, if you are going to start bowling again... you need to do it right! Gary has since relocated from his 1960 location and is now inside Copperfield Bowl, which is GENIUS! Anytime a bowler needs anything, what better way to go see a pro inside a pro shop! Gary has the little things you need to make your game more comfortable and just in case you needed a new ball, he has those too! After getting our balls drilled, we took them out for a test run and any adjustments that needed to be made, we just walked right back over to Gary and he helped us make those adjustments! My family are recreational bowlers but eventually, we got to the point where we needed our own shoes and balls. Gary and all of his staff were extremely professional and knowledgeable. Their pricing is pretty competitive to online / mail order. But frankly Amazon is not going to provide you the knowledge and fitment expertise that these guys can. You get what you pay for. And when you leave the shop you'll have gear that fits and works. It's too bad that Gary's located inside Copperfeld Bowl because I am not a fan of theirs, but I will definitely go Gary. read more

Gary was recommended by a close friend so I went over to visit after having spoke to him on the phone. I haven't bowled in many years or have not been measured for a custom ball. When I arrived Gary remembered me from the phone call and he had my ball ready and waiting on the counter., He asked me a few questions and then set about his work to get my measurements. Like I said it has been many years but I could tell that he was very knowledgeable in what he was doing. After a few minute of him pulling my fingers and thumb, he took measurements that he recorded int he event I need to make any future purchases. He then began the process of drilling the ball and putting in the inserts that I requested. Afterwards there were a few adjustments, then he had me roll the ball across the floor to see if it was comfortable for me. It was. I've come here highly recommended by my brother. My mom was in need of a new gamer ball and she went with the RIP'D and absolutely is in love with it. Gary fitted her for ball and it came out perfect for her. She's bowled about a dozen games with it, and has increased her average to 160 with it.
