I was referred to this clinic in Gardnerville. When I arrived the doctor had no clue as to why I…read morewas there. He said he received no paperwork from the referral and didn't have any idea of my symptoms or concerns. I had to explain to him why I was there and he said there wasn't anything he could really do to help me. I was in and out in 15 minutes and out again around $250. I asked for a refund and they denied it but offered me a $50 refund. I accepted but I had already triggered the bill pay because the refund offer didn't come for three months. I was making payments and they said they would adjust the payment schedule. they didn't. Now they owe me that $50 refund they offered and billing has ignored me for almost two months. One young man in billing hung up on me and I suspect he is responsible for the failed attempt at my refund. My doctor was terrible. Very unprofessional! After this long a time trying to get my refund, I have to say thay are a practice without integrity and downright dishonest.

Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine has been fabulous. I was referred to Dr. Swanson by a friend…read morewho sustained a similar ski accident at Heavenly last year. I am a competitive archer and was extremely concerned about my future in the sport, in fact it was all I could think of during my toboggan ride down the hill with the ski patrol. I called Tahoe Ortho's office and a live person quickly picked up the phone and she answered with cheerful but concerned voice, told her my situation, and I asked to meet with Dr. Swanson regarding my shoulder injury. She got me in to see the doctor in just a couple of days. So, i had none of those most hated robot phone systems, got a pleasant staff, and was rapidly scheduled in for an appointment to see a highly recommended skilled surgeon - excellent! The doctor took x-rays, showed me my AC Separation type 5, discussed the situation with me, presented me with my options, answered all of my questions, and never felt rushed. I elected to have my shoulder surgically reconstructed rather than letting it heal on its own. The Doctor got me into surgery at Barton Hospital in South Lake Tahoe just a few days later squeezing me into an opening; I really wanted to get this fixed quickly. I am not an expert in reading x-rays, but now my shoulder looks as good as new. Post op checkup with his PA, Michael Jaskot, a week later went very well, with similar attentiveness to the patient and was able to answer all my questions. I was told this is going to be a 6-month recovery with a lot of physical therapy - I am completely up for that, hoping it will get back shooting again post haste. Wearing my sling from the ER I got right after the accident got other people talking to me about their injuries, and I received three out of three people (accident skiers and dirt bike racers, etc.), unsolicited by me, who recommended Dr. Swanson. I recommend Tahoe Ortho and Dr. Swanson to all.

I really did not want to have to put a review like this up on Dr. Vlasek. He seems like a good guy…read morebut I think he has been a bit corrupted by the corporate healthcare model. My experience with him started when my favorite doctor left town and I had to find another doctor. He was the only one available within Carson Tahoe, and with some hindsight I should've just switched to a different practice entirely. I knew Carson Tahoe was bad and only cares about money, but watching this doctor and his staff develop into that model has been pretty bad. The referrals and follow ups are a rough start to boot. He has referred me to so many places that have never called, never gotten a referral, and don't even know who I am when I call. I have a problem that requires a dermatologist and he referred me to a practice I had never been to before even though I have a dermatologist. Let me guess, if I want the referral corrected I have to make an appointment? Which leads me to: My biggest issue with his practice is that no matter the issue, no matter how trivial, he will not solve any issue without an appointment. It doesn't matter if you were in that day, or the day before, or a week ago. It's not like I miss my yearly appointments, I see the doctor several times a year because of my conditions. One would think if I had a reasonable request like, "can we increase my anti-depressant strength", that we could solve that issue without the need for an appointment a couple weeks after the follow up appointment to another appointment one month ago. Every single issue I have, his MA Aiden and himself have always responded with, "Make an appointment". It's getting old and he clearly does not value our time and only cares about the visit billing. *Update: His office must have taken offence to my review, they sent me a certified letter that I cannot go to eagle medical center because of "non-compliance". Wonderful way to fix the issue Carson Tahoe.
