They…read moregive you a cost estimate and are transparent about the additional charge to use a credit card. Now for the rest of the story: The fact that the oral surgeon was able to get an IV in my arm that most people can't speaks volumes to his skill. I didn't have any pain after my extraction and didn't take any meds, though it was a relatively "simple" extraction as far as extractions go. The hardest part post‑op was limiting myself to soft foods for a week! I've only been to the office twice -- the consult and the actual procedure. The consult didn't leave me with the best first impression. My anxiety was through the roof and, other than the fantastic lady at the front desk, the visit didn't do much to calm it. I also later found out I could have filled out the paperwork online beforehand; I didn't bring my glasses and really struggled to read the forms in the office. For some people, including myself, the dental environment is inherently anxiety‑provoking. The power imbalance, the lack of control, the vulnerability... None of that is easily eased when you're lying on an uncomfortable dental chair in a cold, quiet room with only your thoughts (and an IV sedation handout) for company. I would have appreciated being clearly presented with all sedation options instead of IV being assumed. Anxiety aside, all went well. I also appreciated the fun bandaid and the thoughtful take‑home bag.

it's not that he's a horrible dentist, it's just that wood isn't exactly the friendliest of…read moredentists that i have experienced. almost every-time i went there, i felt that he was disappointed in me or that i was some obligation of a client. there was one time when i had an oral infection that he wasn't as bad...i was pretty scared though...i had an abscess that made me look like quasimodo....at that time i was a young adult 19-20 ish and i missed the big halloween weekend. the infection was by my jaw, so i could barely open my mouth to eat. i was on a diet of grilled cheese sandwiches(flattened w/a spatula) and tomato soup. needless to say, i was pretty bummed out. this was the only time in our 3 year dental relationship that he was nice. another time, his assistant was late and he seemed REALLY agitated by this and when she arrived he yelled at her in front of me. i find this to be unprofessional and rude. .he should have spoken to he in a private manner instead of in front of a client...it's belittling. i think that as far as the mechanic of dentistry goes, he's ok. but as for customer service and being a boss...not so much. I don't know if it's still true, but at the time, he was the only dentist that accepted tricare prime(the military dental insurance) which i was insured under through my dad, being a retiree.

This guy (Douglas R. Wood) is a terrible dentist. The quality of work he did on my teeth was…read moresubpar, and his attitude stunk so bad. He was downright mean, treated me like crap. He explained a simple concept like it was way over my head, condescending. When he was telling me to open, bite etc he spoke like he was commanding a dog. The office itself is crappy. Just look at how poorly done the logo for the business is, looks like it was done in two minutes in Microsoft paint. The same level of care (none) is put into his patients. Teeth cleaning I got was halfassed and rushed. It's not worth it to go to this "dentist" and have a lifetime of pain from routine dental work. PLEASE don't go to Cheshire family dental.
