I like Mark & Spencer when they sell simplicity. Take the wine buyers in the M&S. The got the best wine buying team. They may not get the most premium / expensive kinds of wine, but they always get wine expressing the most signature of the region. You can taste the Chardonnay at Chablis, Sauvignon Blanc at NZ, etc. which outline the exact characteristics you read on the textbooks. Same goes for the food. The may not be the best "Grass Fed Organic Beef", but they always have these decent, fresh choices of food for you. My complaint? Damn the air-con is freezing 24/7. Seriously. I didn't even walk through the whole shop to-date yet just because how cold it is. And this is from a local who's spoiled by the indoor aircon for more than 30 years.

Just off the esco at Hollywood Road road, Marks and Spencer Food is; first, probably the coldest place in Hong Kong (come on guys, refrigerate the food, not the entire shop!), second, the best place to get British comfort food that you can cook at home. M&S is basically a fancy grocery store, where all the food is imported from the UK, except the bread which is made in store. It sells a variety of ready meals, sandwiches, fresh and dry pastas, cook at home pizzas, sliced and packaged meats, pies, you get the idea. The freshest thing is the bread and some packaged fruits, as in they don't sell veggies or raw meats like Wellcome. This particular store has a small window seating area, and they do make coffee, so you can have your packed lunch (bought in store, obviously) there. The food there is not cheap, airfares being what they are now, but sometimes you just need a Melton Mowbray pork pie, and no other will do. It's interesting to see how such a staple of the UK has become a luxury brand in HK, but most importantly I can now get a cook at home lamb shank. At least that's Christmas dinner sorted this year! For my local friends, you should visit, just to see how we Brits wine and dine at home. For my UK friends, come and get a pie - it's all good. I have lived in Sham Shui Po until I was about 10 years old. Kung Wo is about 5 minute walk from our old apartment and I have no recollection of ever having the tofu here. It's my older sister's favorite tofu place so we had to stop by to grab a bowl of good old hot tofu, which is like a dessert. Be aware the dining area is small and cramped. You will likely have to sit next to a stranger in close proximity. It is street food style and casual dining. Folks order, eat and go! The tofu without a doubt was smooth, silky and fresh. I'm not a huge fan but my sister really enjoyed it. I was feeling something savory and got a mix plate of Cheung Fun (rice noodle rolls), fish balls, and fish shui mai. It was alright. They also have soy milk and some other food, but we mostly just came for the tofu since we had a few other stops on our food tour. There's 2 storefronts right next to eat other, although only one has a limited amount of seating. We thought the other one was for takeout, not sure if that was actually the case or not but they still let us order with them and take it over to the other storefront to sit and eat. We ordered a cold tofu pudding, mixed deep fried tofu, and soy milk. The pudding was soft and silky, and there's some sauce/seasoning at the tables for you to add. I don't think it was really my thing but it was interesting to try! I enjoyed the deep fried tofu a lot more since I prefer savory things. I didn't try the tofu ice cream since I didn't notice that was an option, but it sounds unique and I'd probably want to try it if I'm ever back here. Overall it was cool to try and worth a visit if you're a tofu fanatic. I'd probably come back again if I were in the area but wouldn't make a trip out just for this.

Since 1984, the bakery focuses on traditional treats. Loved the banana cake which is light and addictively delicious. The pan fried mochi with sesame seeds is so unique. We bought good quality jackets, dresses, pajamas from here from bunch of shops. Also got lots of souvenirs at least than half of price compared to stores in malls and airports. There are many bakery and restaurants near the streets. All selling amazing and delicious looking HK style foods. We had some quick bites while shopping, all tasted so good. I'd highly recommended this area to all tourists looking to pack up their luggage with lots of shopping.

There was a line but it moved fast. Selection was limited but really, I think everyone is just here for the ice cream cone. Ice cream was more on the sweeter end of spectrum, so the elders might not enjoy it as much. In my opinion, the portion could also be a little bit bigger. I think I was slightly disappointed when I saw the size of the cone. But you can't really complain due to the price. It was one of the touristy things I did but for some reason, eating it while walking around in the streets of Hong Kong made me feel like a local.
