We obtained an estimate for our kitchen floor to be tiled. After considering other estimates…read morereceived, we went with Hump's Contracting as they did a very good job on our backsplash a few years ago. Apparently, Joni, the wife provided an estimate that cut them short. On day 2, which was the final installation day, Kevin Humphrey asked to see the estimate that his wife emailed me. He was very upset and stated he see why we accepted their offer because it was so low. He used profane language in our home and ranted about how much money they lost on the job and stating they did not make a profit. I still don't know how much the job should have cost because he was not professional enough to have that conversation. I informed my husband and we agreed to add a few hundred dollars more to what was originally quoted. Their work is supposed to be warranted for a year and we have a few cracked tiles that we need replaced and they refuse to answer my calls, texts, or emails. I guess they feel like they don't have to honor the warranty since they cut themselves short. That's not our problem, nor is it fair. Kevin should've taken that up with his wife and acted in a more professional manner about the situation. We would not have had a problem discussing the true cost of the job and paying it or negotiating and coming to some agreement. We asked for an estimate for our bathroom when they finished the kitchen. They took measurements, but never provided an estimate. I guess I should've known then we would never hear from them again. Lastly, we noticed a cracked tile they installed, and they were not going to say anything. We brought it to their attention. They said because of the cut, it'll likely crack again when they try to cut it. I was like, well at least give it a try. I don't want cracked tile as that's the purpose for getting my floor redone. I had to call them back to replace a piece of trim under my cabinet and to provide a proper transition from my kitchen to the living room. The trim they removed was already painted. They could've put it back, but instead they put trim that was not already painted.

Everyone, including the office help, were courteous, pleasant, helpful and truly wanted me to be completely happy with the end result.

Not sure how they manage to stay in business. I would not let them mow my yard at this point. They cannot keep reliable subcontractors or designers because they treat anyone who is not related to them as the enemy vs dealing the companies issues. It is a true shame that their work has not held up. We failed our CO originally bc they had not had the insulation installed. It is just a shit show dealing with them.

We want to specifically shout out Cole, who was exceptionally thorough, knowledgeable, and helpful in the planning phase. He took the time to understand exactly what we wanted and offered expert suggestions to ensure we got the best result. The final shower looks amazing--we absolutely love it! The team was reliable and punctual throughout the process. While there were a few minor bumps, the way they handled them was impressive. Specifically, the wrong size handles were initially ordered and there was a small chip on the storage pod/shelving, but they proactively installed a different colored set so that our shower was immediately operational. They returned to fix both small issues within a weeks time! Upgrade Remodeling was fully accountable and made everything right quickly and without any hassle. We are incredibly happy with the end product and highly recommend them.

Massive Time-Waster and Bizarre Pricing Tactics…read more Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. My experience with Upgrade Remodeling was an absolute waste of time and energy. It started with two salespeople coming to measure my standard, non-mansion-sized kitchen. They stayed for five hours and ultimately walked away with an $84,000 signed contract. When I reviewed the paperwork the next day, I realized several key items we had discussed were completely missing from the written agreement. I promptly reached out to management to void the contract due to these discrepancies. Management offered to step in personally to address my concerns. A few days later, a project manager was scheduled to visit and re-measure. However, when I opened my door, five people showed up. After another grueling five-hour session, the project manager handed me a piece of paper with a $164,000 price tag--which didn't even include appliances or the stone for the induction cooktop! When he asked for my thoughts, I made it clear that they were wasting my time. Rather than handling the feedback professionally, he stormed out of my house without saying a word, behaving like a child who couldn't handle honest feedback. Ten hours of my life wasted for a bait-and-switch quote and unprofessional behavior. Highly disappointing.

I hired Jim Hicks Home Improvement after water damage left my home uninhabitable. Contract: $27,808.33, with a $4,171.25 retainer paid. Since then, I've experienced delays, miscommunication, and a lack of professionalism. Jim refused to finalize the scope of work, clarify vague "per bid" items, or provide material allowances before demanding more money. He submitted inflated estimates to my insurance company--up to $10,000 more than our contract--while offering me low-grade carpet under $1.50/sq ft. A subcontractor told me, "I know what I'm charging Jim, but I don't know what Jim is charging you... it's a business." He ignored calls, stuck to short emails, and dismissed my concerns as "emotional" or "overreacting." He also used derogatory language, calling his own subcontractor a "redneck." His lack of urgency and transparency has jeopardized my ability to return home. BEWARE
