I was nervous sending precious metal via US. Mail. But my tracked envelope arrived in Pennsylvania without a problem. Vaughn Archie processed the dental metals and quickly sent an email with accessed value. Garfield only charged $40 for processing. A 5% fee. I'm happy with Vaughn's service and highly recommend if you have gold to sell. read more

They were very prompt in replying, and a check came right away.I would recommend them.

Worst payout and Service in my 35 years of being a professional jeweler! Sent the same sweeps to one refiner and at the same to Garfield, and Garfield paid half as much at the same time! I would do future business with Hoover and Strong or Stuller . read more

9/3/2026 - 9/5/2026 Seller Beware! Seller Beware! Seller Beware! The worst place ever, If you mind being taken advantage of and scammed of your gold and silver and eventual cash. Never go to this place for any reason at all. They'll take your precious metal, hold it for 2-3 days, then tell you it's ok to come pick up your money but it'll be far short of what they led you to believe you'd be picking up based on the weight and their initial quoted price rate. Even tho they'll look and sound honest and credible, you'll leave them feeling like you've been robbed without a gun. They use the oldest trick in the book as they know you can't dispute purity of all your merchandise which leaves them the ability to claim that your merchandise wasn't as pure as you thought. Even if you weigh your merchandise, they'll claim it wasn't true 925 sterling, or 10k gold, 14k gold, 18k gold, platinum, or palladium. I could have went to my normal local scrap guy and gotten $1700 -$1800 for my 1011 grams of sterling and this place gave me a mere $1074. Garfield quoted me $64.25 per troy once or $2.07 per gram for my sterling silver lot. I had 1011 grams X $2.07 = $2092.77 Garfield informed me that they pay 80% of $2092.77 which = $1674.216 to me. They gave me $1074. I'll be contacting the PA Attorney General's Office to file a Consumer Complaint as well. read more

Quick, friendly and excellent service! I have used Garfield Refining a couple of times now for crowns and have been very pleased with them both times. Will definitely use them again (my husband still has a couple more gold crowns!) read more

Unethical dealing! A lot of fine print slips thru the cracks without even mentioning in "fine print" BUYER BE AWARE! read more

We submitted a couple of gold crowns and were very surprised and they had a quick turn around. Will use them again in the future. Highly recommend them read more

It was so easy! Company personnel were quick with answers to my questions and the money came quickly.

Personally, I have had excellent experience with Garfield Refining. Twice I had sent in dental gold and old jewelry rather than letting it sit in drawer. The items were processed quickly and Vaughn Archie kept me informed as to when I would receive my payment. The payment I received seemed to be appropriate. It's a fabulous service and I can understand why this company has been voted "best dental refiner" by nationwide dentists. read more

Not happy with service took almost 3 weeks to get paid ,web site says 1 to 2 day turnaround thats a lie , on top of that there was a service charge of over 100 dollars , my jeweler offered me more money with no service charge and would have only took 1 minute to pay me , I wont deal again with this company . read more

Valuation report should list the amount of non-valuable metals found along with valuable metals. As a customer I weighed one of the gold crowns (that had no tooth material) before submission and receiving a valuation report that appears to be shorting over half the material weight is very disappointing. I find it hard to believe that there are non-valuable metals (over 50%?) in a dental gold crown from research on the web. I will give them credit for timely response to my initial inquiry into the weight discrepancy but did not explain beyond - "We process all like alloys together. The weights you see under quantity is the amount of fine ounces (or pure precious material), not the gross ounces." Review pictures for documentation. read more

Great service, professionalism, and knowledge from Al Licciardello my account manager. Also great, clear explanations from Jessica Kolber Director of Account Services. read more

Super easy and professional. Customer service was outstanding. Very business-like and straightforward, with no surprises.

I sent in a packaged of unused semi-precious material containing paladium and never got paid for that. I think I was short-changed. When we were in the dental laboratory business, my husband was paid for every bit of metal contained, even copper. And payment was fast and efficient. This time it took weeks. read more

Very efficiently sent me a label and a form to fill out to send with my item. Even though it's the holidays once they receive my item, it was promptly evaluated. I received the notification about the deposit and it's all been just easy and streamlined and I am pleased with the amount that I'm getting. read more

I had 3 gold dental crowns that were at least 25-30 years old. One by one, they had to be replaced, and I asked for the gold fragments. Wondering if the gold had any value , I found Garfield Refining after an internet search. I worked with Derek Moser, an Account Manager. He answered all of my questions honestly and promptly. The entire transaction including sending the crowns, the assay, the results, and the payment was completed within a week. I highly recommend this company. read more

Pleasure to work with this company. They were able to assess the metals, provide me a summary of what I had sent in, the amount of I was entitled to. An all in one shop. Definitely recommend them. read more

sent in 23.42 grams of 14k gold and a gold dental cap melt value minus there 5% came to $2,149.52 they sent me a check for$1,350.51 basically ripping me off for $800 try to contact them on multiple occasions with no response. Don't do business with this company read more

Excellent and speedy service! I submitted old gold jewelry pieces that I'd never wear again and received a nice check in return. $$$ thank you! read more

Garfield told me they would "really appreciate" it if I would leave a review. Ok, I will. I sent them nine pounds of silverware. They paid me for approximately three pounds of silver, and said that another three pounds (approximately) was non-precious metal. That left about three pounds unaccounted for. I have asked several times for an explanation, but they have been unable or unwilling to provide that explanation. read more

I used to go to the local jewelry store to sell dental metals. Since using Garfield Refining, I have usually received double plus what I would have received from the jewelry store here in town. Easy to use, extremely quick turn around time. I highly recommend this company. read more

Do not do business with this company. They will take advantage of you by not paying you for what your gold is worth. Especially when you have 18k solid gold scrap jewelry. I was under paid by a couple of thousand when i sent in 41 grams they refined it and said i only had 1.3grams of gold read more

Stay away from this company. I usually send to scientific metals but they popped up in its place through search engine BS. I sent my scrap metal to them by mistake. I only got 600 for a huge amount of scrap . I used to get 1700 from half of what I sent them. They are thieves in my book and should be put out of business!!! I told them this and they didn't even respond because they know they are crooks. They make a living robbing people. Disgrace. Stay away!!!! I will be filling a complain with the BBB. read more

I couldn't be more pleased with my experience working with Garfield Refining. From the very first interaction, Mr. Vaughn's professionalism and transparency stood out. He is incredibly knowledgeable and walked me through every step of the process with patience and clarity, making me feel completely at ease. What truly impressed me was the fairness and accuracy of their assessments. The payout I received was not only prompt, but significantly higher than other offers I had received elsewhere. In my opinion, they value honesty and operate with integrity. They earned my trust and I and will absolutely return for future transactions. read more

Garfield is Outstanding! I've been a customer since 2023 and send in jewelry at least twice a month. Their personnel Stephanie, Kat, Adrian, Vaughn, Katrina are all very courteous, knowledgeable, and happy every time I call for a shipping label or a question. I've tried other refineries, and this group is the best with the highest payouts, no minimum shipping size and turnaround times. I highly recommend Garfield and rate my experiences with 6+ stars every time. read more

I have been dealing with different precious metal refiners for over 30 years. I would have to say Garfield only gets a "C" rating from me. I am proficient in weighing and testing metals and have good equipment. I never expect the final value of my melt to be exact to my figures but to be within a certain range. Garfields final value, to me, was considerably less than I had expected. They do get an A for their shipment and tracking program and notification of receipt of material. I will probably try someone else on my next refining job. read more

I found Garfield on line when looking for something to do with an old gold filling. The instructions were straightforward and precise. The follow-up on every aspect of my shipment was outstanding. My item was very small but I am sure I received the same amazing service that someone with 100 times my shipment would receive. I hope to do further activities with this very trusted company again. read more

Fast and seamless quote and resulting payment. Kept us informed throughout the process via email.

Great experience. They provide the mailing label and instructions. Very easy to use and payment is made quickly. Would highly recommend.

Personnel (Archie) was extremely courteous and helpful for my first service request from Garfield Refining. My Oral Surgeon gave me an envelope when he extracted a tooth with a 54 year old gold filling. It was prepaid and addressed. I followed the directions and got a payment a few weeks later.
