When I mentioned this at my next appointment, Dr. Goranson told me that this can sometimes happen if the medication enters the muscle and causes atrophy, and that it usually improves over time. He then suggested another injection, but I chose not to proceed. Since my symptoms continued, I sought a second opinion. The next doctor confirmed that the issue was related to the injection and diagnosed it as fat necrosis, which she explained is not reversible. She had the most serious case of arthritis in her knee which crippled her. Doctors had been telling her for over a decade that she needed knee replacement but she withheld due to family commitments and other medical issues. By the time she first saw Dr. Hartford, I accompanied her with the visit. Her leg was so bowed outwards I believed that she would eventually need an amputation. Likely the reason some complaints about waiting time are due to the fact that Dr. Kliman, unlike many physicians today who have 10 minutes for each visit, is thorough and answers all the questions and is hands on. If you wait in his office, it's because he is being a good doctor and not leaving the office at 4pm every day....old time service, not managed care big clinic delivery of care and f/u with physician extenders like PAs and NPs. Terrific surgeon and great preoperative and postoperative care. FYI I have also been referring patients to him for 30 years plus because of his skill and care in taking care of patients.

In my husband's case, the revision surgery was for the worst possible reason, which is infection. Revision surgery is challenging for the surgeon and the patient, but Dr. Mittal took the case when we were referred to him and has been caring and careful every step of the way. Dr. Mittal is knowledgeable regarding recent research and protocols, but also humble enough to consult and collaborate with other specialists, when needed. The physician assistants and office staff in Dr. Mittal's office have been responsive and helpful. We have felt in good hands with everyone we have encountered in our office visits as well as the post-surgical hospital stay. Dr. Mittal works long hours and his dedication to his patients shows.
