We needed something to do, and Mr. Ed's came up in a Yelp search. I wasn't sure what to expect. Wow!! There is sooooo much to see - it was a bit overwhelming. We walked the garden and enjoyed all of the flowers, adorned trees and "sculptures", outside. Never, in my life, have I thought about buying or collecting elephant memorabilia- after walking through the museum, the idea doesn't seem crazy. The candy available for purchase, brought back fond childhood memories! I was thrilled to be able to share many of my childhood favorites with the kids. The fudge? Oh my gosh!!! So many delicious flavors. The warm, spiced cashews filled the place with heavenly scent. I challenge you to leave without buying several things. Definitely recommend. It was so much fun.

Like homemade fudge and vintage candy? You're in luck. Everywhere you look there are elephants! The smell of the store is heaven for any chocolate lover. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with the sights and smells of candy and sweets. They have fudge, truffles, corn nuts, vintage candies, unique candies, crickets, you name it! Would be a great place to grab items for a sweet gift basket. They sell mugs and you can fill them with candy and they spruce it up and make it cute. Like most other vintage candy stores, you can fill a bucket and pay by the pound ($7.99 per pound). The staff were very very friendly and helpful. We got a decent variety of their homemade chocolate items, vintage candy, fudge, and even some socks! You can explore the grounds around the building and see all the cute and kitschy yard decor. Stop by the pond and see how many frogs you can count. We spotted over 20! We nibbled on some of the chocolate covered animal crackers on the ride home and they were delicious. Check it out even if just for the thousands of elephants!

For example, I purchase Canadian bacon before moved last July at $6.99/#. Maple syrup would be a good item as well and their homemade chicken salad, ham salad, macaroni and potato salads are awesome. They also make dips and one of my favorites is the roasted red pepper dip and the other is a cinnamon walnut raisin cream cheese spread for toast. Don't forget the spice section, and if you need kitchen utensils, large, cast-iron, skillets, and other kitchen needs buy them at Peights, If take a trip to Belleville, make sure that you stop at the Amish Farms and load up on vegetables such as big green, yellow, and red peppers three for a dollar fresh corn out of the field $4.00 a dozen. I immediately corrected that mistake by buying a ticket the moment I saw the event posted--and then started counting down the days. The concept alone sold me: a ticketed, adults-focused stroll through downtown Carlisle, with participating small businesses offering tastings, experiences, treats, and deals. Sweethearts of all kinds were welcome--couples, besties, gal pals--and dressing in red and pink for Valentine's vibes was strongly encouraged. Say less. Ticketing was super easy, and Georgie Lou's did a fantastic job with pre-event communication, especially via social media. One post in particular deserves a shout-out: a reminder to bring a bag to carry your treats. This is something I absolutely would not have thought about until I was awkwardly shoving sweet treats into my coat pockets. I came prepared with a small reusable shopping bag (pink, obviously), and by the end of the stroll it was completely full of sweets, trinkets, and purchases. Meanwhile, others were struggling with overflowing pockets alongside gloves, hats, maps, and life regrets. Lesson learned. Excellent advice! I found parking around 1pm and headed to Georgie Lou's to check in and grab my materials. The staff were incredibly friendly, checked my name off the list, and sent me on my way with a Map of Hearts, a button identifying me as an official 2026 Sweetheart Stroller, and a small sweet treat to kick things off. I also took some time to explore the shop itself--my first visit--and wow! They have managed to pack an impressive amount of nostalgic goodness into a small space. Total blasts from the past, plus candies I'd never seen before. Super fun shop! From there, the stroll itself was a delight. Georgie Lou's clearly put a lot of care into coordinating participating businesses, and it showed. Most spots offered sweet treats, discounts, or special offerings, but every single business was warm, welcoming, and happy to have folks stopping in. Even though I've done a few downtown Carlisle walk-style events before, I still discovered shops I'd never been in--and every purchase I made that day was from a place I was visiting for the first time. That alone feels like a win. Overall, this was a fantastic way to spend a few hours on a very chilly January Saturday. It got me out of the house, walking downtown, supporting local businesses, and discovering gems I usually zoom past while driving from Point A to Point B. I had such a great time that I jokingly asked if I could pre-register for next year... apparently that's "not a thing yet." Fine. I'll wait. :) This has officially been added to my annual tradition list. Great event, great execution, great vibes. Well done, Georgie Lou's!
